At Loonatics HQ, it was just a normal day. Normal that is if you were a Loonatic.

Ace was in the middle of combat training against a group of blade drones, and he was ducking and dodging them like an acrobat, whilst retaliating by zapping them with his Laser Vison and slicing them with his sword. And somehow, he had roped Chase into it. The 18-year-old from Prime Earth was dealing with the drones himself, dodging and shooting them with his cannon arm, and trying to hit them with his laser sword.

"Y'gotta be way faster than that, Chase! Don't just randomly doge and shoot, think ahead a little!" Ace said, slicing some drones down.

Chase then dodged a few drones before he focused on targeting systems through Beat and shot down three in rapid succession. "Thanks, Ace. Focusing really helps."

"Sure does," Ace said as he cleared more droned. "Ya gotta think fast t'be fast. Beat'll help ya, but don't always assume she's good at everything. There are times when she aint gonna be as useful. Gotta use your head to help yourself." he said before finishing off the rest of the drones.

"Combat simulation over." the computer said. It was at this moment Lexi came into the room.

"Hey, look what I got," Lexi said as she held out something.

"One sec, Lexi," Chase said as he blasted one final drone before he and Ace took a look. In the palm of her hand, Lexi was holding some kind of creature. It was shaped like a ball with wide beady eyes, and it was just in Lexis color with pink skin and long hair with a blue tail.

Slam also came in and locked eyes with it, but he wasn't interested in what it was, more so seeing a tasty snack as he licked his chops and jumped right at the small ball creature mouth first.

"Whoa, no eating my pet!" Lexi said as she dodged out of the way, making Slam crash into a large blaster turret that powered on and started firing as it rotated around.

"Watch it Slam, I'm trying to work here-!" Tech said as he was doing some maintenance before the back end of the turret knocked him over. The laser firing from it was inches from zapping his butt off before the plug was pulled and it powered down.

"Uh... what is this thing, some kinda living Fuzzball?" Chase asked.

"No, its a Fuz-Z." Lexi asnwered.

"...Never heard of it. These things popular?" Chase asked.

"Oh come on, you just got here and you're already living under a rock? Bio-Pets are only the coolest trend to ever hit Acmetropolis." Lexi explained.

"Yeah, what do ya hit it with?" Ace asked incredulously.

"You don't hit it, you love it!" Lexi replied, snuggling her new pet. "She'll be whatever you want her to be. A glove, a choker, a cuddawalker...."

"Hold it right there, sister!" Duck called out as he came on the scene, literally jumping into the conversation, snatching the Fuz-Z away from Lexi. "How'd you get a hold of one of these anyway? My Fuz-Zs been on backorder for weeks. Are you sure this isn't supposed to be mine?" as he was trying to keep it away from Lexi, slam tried getting at it again, before he put it back in Lexis' range as she snatched the Fuz-Z back.

"Back off, Duck! ZoZo is mine." Lexi insisted.

Duck chuckled at the name he just heard. "ZoZo?"

Zadavia soon entered the room via a separate screen. "You're not going to believe this one Loonatics, but there's a situation in South Acmetropolis that requires your special attention. A residential zone in the 4th quadrant seems to have a giant spider problem."

"Didn't they spray for Giant Spiders last week?" Ace asked, trying to make light of the situation.

"This family barely escaped with their lives," Zadavia replied.

"Species, Origin?" Tech questioned.

"Unknown and Unknown," Zadavia said.

"Forget where it came from, wheres it going?" Duck asked. "It's not coming here is it?"

"I think the idea is for you guys to go there," Chase said.

"Exactly, Danger Duck." Zadavia insisted.

"Uh, must we?" Duck asked.

"I'll transfer coordinates and transit. Zadavia, out." Zadavia said logging out.

"She's got a lot of free reign, doesn't she?" Chase asked. "She gets to assign missions, coming and going."

"Yeah, and we get to face giant spiders." Ace said. "You'll get used to it, Chase buddy. Let's jet!"

It wasn't long before the group gathered together at the hangar and started taking off to the scene via jetpacks/ revs speed. Ace, Lexi and Chase were about to join them, the foremost one noticed a stowaway on Lexi's arm.

"Eh, maybe lose the wristband Lex." Ace said.

"I don't wanna leave her here all by herself. She could be our mascot!" Lexi suggested.

"Uh, how bout...no?" Ace replied as he rocketed off.

"Zozo will keep till we get back, Lexi. I'm sure Bio-pets are well trained." Chase said.

"Fine..." Lexi groaned in defeat as she put Zozo down while Chase jetted off to join the others. Unfortunately, before she could leave herself, Lexi couldn't resist Zozos cuteness. "Aw, you'll be lonely, won't you?" unable to resist the charm factor, Lexi took Zozo with her anyway.

South Acmetropolis, 4th Quadrant....

"Alright. Accordin' to Zadavia's readings, we should be able t'spot the Itsy-Bitsy Spider right about... now." Ace said. On his cue, the massive spider-like creature in the image Zadavia showed, crashed through a building.

"Whoa! Lookit that thing! It has three, wait four... five legs!" Duck said before one more leg knocked him silly and sent him flying.

"Uh, make that six legs." Ace corrected.

Slam quickly engaged the mysterious creature, spinning into Tornado mode and rushing to grab one of its legs. But even though he slowed it down, the monster quickly overpowered him and squashed slam into the ground flat with one stomp of its foot. Another stomp would've flattened Slam for good, had it not been for Rev coming in just the nick of time. However, the spiders' attack ruptured the ground, causing a small fissure to creep its way towards a nearby bridge.

"Uh, slight pothole problemo," Ace said.

"Chase, the bridge ahead should be able to contain the monster. Provided of course that it's cleared and the monster stays in one place." Beat advised.

"What about the monster itself?" Chase said.

"Still working on analysis. For now, containment." Beat said.

"Gotcha. Hey guys!" Chase called. "Get that big ugly spider on the bridge and keep it there!"

"I see what yer onto, Chase! Slam, let's give our friend a little help, whaddya say?" Ace responded.

Slam acknowledged and jetted right at the monster, dragging it by one of its legs onto the bridge.

"Hey-itsy-bitsy! Im-over-here! Had-lunch-yet? You-ever-shave-those-legs?" Rev asked as he flew all around the monster to keep it distracted. Meanwhile, Tech used his Magnokinesis to remove the bridge's supports, Ace assisting by melting the others with his Laser Vision. While the two of them did that, Lexi used her Brain Blast to snap the cables, and Slam made sure the beast stayed put.

"Now let's lock 'em up! Clear out, everybody!" Ace said as he, Chase, Lexi, and Tech pushed down on the bridge and made it come crashing down with the monster inside, Rev and Slam evacuating before it did so. However, when the dust cleared, the monster wasn't in sight. "You've got to be kidding. How did it get outta there?"

The Loonatics and chase landed on the ruined bridge and looked around.

"Very impressive, itsy-bitsy go bye-bye." Lexi said.

"Theres got to be an explanation." Tech wondered.

"Oh, man! I don't believe it!" Ducks voice came as he was holding something in his hand... a brown-furred Fuz-Z. "Check it out! I found a Fuz-Z, and this one is mine! Look, ive got my very own super sidekick! How 'bout it, Wonderfluff? Yeah, that works..." Duck bragged before Ace swiped it. "Scuse me!"

"Huh. Big spider-beast pulls a disappearin' act and we find a hard to get Bio-Pet in its place. What're the odds?" Ace asked.

"Hmm.. 4,270,867 to one." Tech calculated.

"Kinda high on the coincidence meter, doncha think?" Ace asked in reply.

"Aw, cmon! You're not trying to pin this on Wonderfluff, are you?" Duck asked.

Suddenly, Chase got a warning in his head, which kinda hurt his brain.

"Ow!" Chase winced, stung by the alert.

"Sorry, Chase. I wanted you to know I've found something disturbing. DNA Scans of both the monster engaged earlier and the Fuz-Z Duck acquired show a 100% Match." Beat informed.

"So that freak monster and Duck's new friend are the same?" Chase asked.

"Affirmative. A possible theory is that the change in difference is due to some sort of induced genetic mutation." Beat said.

"What could even cause that though?" Chase wondered, his thoughts aloud so that Lexi and the others could hear, the former feeling a rustle in her jet pack.

"Zozo!" Lexi realized, backing away for a second to take her Fuz-Z out, enamored by its charm. "Aw, how could anyone think Bio-Pets are anything but sweet?" suddenly Zozo jumped out of the bunny's hand. "Zozo, come back! Zozo!"

Zozo hopped towards Duck and suddenly jumped inside his jetpack, and so did Wonderfluff as he escaped Ace.

"Sorry, guess they like me better. Now I have two superhero sidekicks, hah!" Duck boasted.

"Y'had to bring the Fuzz," Ace said to Lexi before everyone heard rustling in Ducks pack.

"There's a party going on in your backpack." Lexi noticed of Duck.

"Oh, I never go out in the field without some Chocolate Abenducer Bars," Duck explained, noticing the shaking. "Ooh, they must be really hungry." he then took both Fuz-Zs out and saw something was wrong with them. "Hey, what's this-ouch!"

Both Fuz-Zs dropped from duck's hand, as they soon suddenly shuddered and started changing, growing before the group's very eyes, their cute faces suddenly donning looks of rage.

"Zozo?!" Lexi asked in shock.

"Wonderfluff?!" Duck would do the same.

Soon enough, both Fuz-Zs changed into the same state Wonderfluff was in earlier, proving Beat's calculations correct.

"You totally called it, Beat," Chase said.

"Yes, it seems Fuz-Zs aren't as safe to own as advertised," Beat noted.

"Hey Duck, you think Wonderfluff has had his shots?" Chase asked.

"I'm not so sure," Duck said. "Anybody wanna buy a Bio-Pet cheap?"

"Duck!" Ace called.

"What?" Duck asked in question, but Ace was saying to literally duck, something Danger Duck realized too late as he was swatted aside while everyone else dodged. The battle engaged right after. Ace evaded Wonderfluff's first stomp, but he caught him with another arm, slamming him into a wall.

"Smacked down by a fuzzball? You realize, of course, this means war." Ace said as he unstuck himself from the concrete and got ready to fight seriously. "Hit it, Loonatics!"

"Wait!" Lexi stopped Ace.

"Hey, what gives?!" he asked.

"That's Zozo! Be gentle with her, she's had a rough day." Lexi tried to coerce.

"Tell her that!" Chase called, evading Zozo and Wonderfluff both. "Beat, gimme something for monster control!"

"Generating appropriate countermeasures."

Beat reacted to Chase's situation and spawned his arm cannon, with some lethal components to it.

"Whoa, dial it back! These are living creatures, no killing!" Chase said as the Cannon morphed instead into a different mode, capable of delivering a concussive blast of energy. "Yeah, that's more like it."

Chase then thrust his arm forward as soon as Zozo went for him again, the concussive blast sending her stumbling backward. Slam then charged in, but was grabbed by the mutated Fuz-Z, but not for long as he landed a hit that staggered her even more. Rev then disoriented Zozo with lightning speed, allowing Duck to teleport in.

"Here Zozo, catch!" Duck declared, spawning two Power orbs that burst into hot tar on contact with the ground, getting Zozo stuck as she fell to the ground trying to break free. Slam went in for another swing, but...

"Slam, wait!" Lexi called, not out of insistence to protect her pet, but something else. Zozo and Wonderfluff suddenly shuddered in pain, before all of a sudden shrinking down and reverting to their normal, cute selves, jumping into their respective owner's hands.

"Whats gotten inta these powederpuffs?" Ace inquired.

"Something powerful," Zadavia answered, appearing on a video monitor above as everyone noticed.

"Yeah, powerful, but easy to get ahold of," Ace said as they flew up to Zadavia's screen.

"Good point Ace, the boy with the first Fuz-Z fed it a whole stash of chocolate before going to bed." Zadavia recounted.

"And our Fuz-Zs ate Ducks chocolate!" Lexi realized.

"That sounds like a VERY obvious thing to note as a side effect in your commercials. Whose bright idea was it to put these things on the market?" Chase said.

"A Scientist named Professor Zane," Beat answered. "He quickly put the Fuz-Zs up for sale as soon as he discovered them, saying "Who could resist such a lovable, soft, playful creature?"."

"Guess he left out the part where they turn into monsters if you feed them the wrong snacks," Chase said.

"Professor Zane's laboratory is located in the 7th quadrant, just east of the Industrial Center." Zadavia directed.

"The guy who invented these hairballs better know a way to curve their sweet tooth, cuz Acmetroplolis is crawlin' with 'em." Ace said as they jetted off.

"It-is-gonna-take-a-miracle-to-gather-up-all-these-Fuz-Zs-I-can-grab-about-half-of-them-but-were-gonna-need-something-really-amazing-to-get-the-rest-of-em," Rev noted.

"I bet Tech has a few toys we can use," Ace said.

Loonatics HQ, Techs lab....

"I give you... the Exo-Vac 2400X!" Tech revealed, unveiling a large flying transport that was obviously designed for sweeping up things. "It's the ultimate urban vacuum."

Slam was obviously impressed by it, as was Chase.

"It looks pretty cool, but what do you need something like this for?" Chase asked.

"Try eating with Slam. Not pretty.' Tech replied, earning the big mans ire.

"So will this thing capture every Fuz-Z in the city?" Chase asked.

"Analysis shows that it will. It's designed to quickly fly over every corner of Acmetropolis, and locate any Fuz-Z signatures with its Bio-Signature Tracking Beam that can distinguish between them and their owners, to not extract the wrong target. It also has enough Suction capability to capture every Fuz-Z that's been sold." Beat analyzed.

"In other words, this thing really sucks," Chase responded.

"Fuz-Zs, that is," Ace added.

It wasn't long before the seven were re-deployed with the Exo-Vac.

"Lexi, you Duck and Chase go warn this Zane guy. He could be in danger from his own creations." Ace directed. "The rest of us will work on roundin' up the furballs that are still out there."

It wasn't long before Lexi, Danger Duck, and Chase reached their destination, the Laboratory of Professor Zane at the coordinates Zadavia supplied. The large building seemed deserted.

"Looks like no one's home," Duck said.

"No, someone's in there. I can hear breathing inside." Lexi said, already using her Sonic Hearing and going ahead.

"Showoff..." Duck muttered under his beak.

The trip entered the laboratory carefully, finding it dark inside.

"Hello, Professor Zane? We've come to talk to you about your Bio-Pets, we have reason to believe they're very very-!" Lexi called before the lights came on, and three mutated Fuz-Zs were bearing down on them.

"Well, looks like they've already had their chocolate today." Duck pointed out.

"Guess we should be lucky that's all they have an appetite for," Chase said.

"You couldn't be more wrong." a voice said, revealing itself to be Professor Zane, a short, hunched-over man with his facial hair and other features making him look like a devil in a lab coat, with human skin. "Not only do they crave chocolate... but they also have a taste for Duck and Rabbit. And guess what? It's feeding time!" he laughed.

Two of the mutant Fuz-Zs lunged for Lexi and Duck and grabbed them in their monster hands. Chase tried to intervene, but the third Fuz-Z blocked him off before he could manifest a weapon. And even if he did act, Duck and Lexi were being held hostage, so he couldn't do anything.

"So, I'm guessing you played coy about the Fuz-Z's nasty side effect during marketing on purpose, right?" Chase asked.

"You knew all along that they mutated when they ate chocolate," Lexi added.

"Knew? I made sure of it." Professor Zane answers. "My first 2 Fuz-Zs weren't supposed to transform so soon, not until I had completely flooded the entire city with Bio-Pets. One pulse from my electric leash, and the savage beasts are under my control."

"So you wanted all the Fuz-Zs to take the chocolate express to Creatureville at the same time, and tear Acmetropolis apart!" Lexi accused.

"Sounds like someone's mommy didnt buy them enough chocies when they were widdle." Duck mocked.

"Oh, you're just as naive as the Acmetropolis Science Council." Zane scoffed. "Imagine, firing me because they deemed my experiments too...dangerous! They never appreciated me or my genius!"

"Because you're crazy. One look at you says it all, Mad Scientist." Chase said. "So what, you wanted to show this planet how good you were?"

"Exactly. When the meteor hit the earth, the impact opened all kinds of fissures." Professor Zane explained.

"Including the ones in your brain, Mr. Zane?" Duck interrupted.

"I discovered these delightful creatures. Their biology was perfect for the experiments i had in mind. Experiments that led to the Fuz-Z. So cute and cuddly, until they have a bit of chocolate. Then the only way to stop them is with this." Professor Zane said, pointing to a remote he held in his hand.

"Thanks for telling us that," Chase said as he prepared to advance on the professor.

"Try to take it if you can...but focus on me, and nothing is stopping them from having their protein." Professor Zane pointed out, the two Fuz-Z mutants close to eating their captives.

Before they could, however, all of a sudden the Exo-Vac 2400x burst into the lab, implying that the others had finished rounding up all the other Fuz-Zs in the city.

"See? Too much chocolate'll make ya sick." Ace said.

Duck and Lexi soon escaped the grasp of their captors, Duck quacking out of the claw and Lexi chopping the grip loose. Ace, Slam, and Tech soon joined the party, followed by Rev.

Professor Zane then acted quickly, pulling a lever that caused containers filled with dozens of Fuz-Zs to come crashing down on the floor. "Oh dear me, what kind of host have i been? Would anyone care for some... chocolate?"

Another pull of a lever would release tons of chocolate abenducer bars into the lab for the Fuz-Zs to consume.

"The effect is temporary, but the more they eat, the longer they last." Professor Zane said.

"Then no more chocolate for them. Slam, Rev! Time for a little candy run!" Ace ordered.

Slam and Rev went to work, using their respective powers of Tornado Maximization and Sonic Speed to rush the chocolate bars out of the lab as fast as they could.

"Chase, I propose we disarm Professor Zane of his control module. Preferably right this instant?" Beat asked.

"Duck, Zane and his remote!" Chase called.

"What about it? Oh, right!" Duck realized before quickly tossing a Power Orb. "Heads up!" he called as the orb splattered into tar on contact with Zane's face, making him drop the remote.

"I got it!" Chase said, scooping it off the ground and passing it to Duck. at that moment, Zozo and Wonderfluff picked the worst possible time to jump out of their owner's pockets and grab a bite to eat.

"Zozo!" Lexi called.

"Wonderfluff, no!" Duck called as well, too late for either to stop them as they started snacking. Zane then got the tar off his face and wrestled Duck for the remote. "Hey, this is no time to dance!"

The Fuz-Zs, including Lexi and Ducks, soon mutated and bore down on the other Loonatics.

"Oh no, you don't!" Chase said, getting in the way and impeding their advance with his concussive energy cannons. As he blasted one of them, it almost fell on top of Duck and the professor. They both dodged out of the way in time, but the former lost the remote.

Chase was too busy pushing back the Fuz-Zs to get the remote, and they were grabbing the others constantly. "Ace, gettin' swarmed here! Think you can put the leash on these guys?!"

"On it, Chase!" Ace said, using his agility to grab the remote before Zane did.

"No!" Professor Zane called as Ace was grabbed by a Fuz-Z. Zane made a dash for the remote and almost grabbed it, but then...

"Not so fast, Zany!" Ace called, blasting the remote away with his Laser Vision. He then made his captor release him forcefully before grabbing the remote and activating it, getting all the rampant Bio-Pets to stand down. "No snakin' guys, you'll spoil your dinner!"

"My babies!" Professor Zane cried in defeat.

It wasn't long after all the Fuz-Zs were brought under control that Professor Zane was put behind bars inside Acemetropolis Prison. Meanwhile, the Loonatics and Chase then dumped all the Fuz-Zs back inside the fissure where they were found, Zozo and Wonderfluff included, which means Duck and Lexi had to say goodbye.

"Time to go," Lexi said, Zozo reluctant to. "Aw, cmon. You'll be much happier there. No deranged scientist to mess with you, and no chocolate, let's hope."

"I salute you. You've been a brave soldier, Wonderfluff. I also fear you, but let's not go there now." Duck said to Wonderfluff. The two then released their Bio-Pets into the fissure. Tech then got on his wrist comm as Zadavia appeared.

"Congratulations, Loonatics. Thanks to your and Chase's efforts, Professor Zane's nefarious operation has been shut down. Take the rest of the day off, you deserve it. Zadavia, out." Zadavia communicated, going out as quickly as she came in.

"Y'know, Fuz-Zs are so over. I think it's time to move on to the next big thing." Duck said.

"You say that now, but trends come and go. I'm not sure whatever you find will be as long-lasting until something new comes." Chase said.

"Oh, you'll see, Chase. Whether it's a Flea Circus or something else, I'll make the biggest trend yet!" Duck said.

"You've already tried doin' that, haven't ya?" Ace asked as Duck took out a box with a tiny circus inside.

"I sure have, take a look!" Duck said proudly.

"I don't see any fleas," Lexi said.

"Looks like there's a hole in the box." Tech noticed.

"Oh, great! So where are the fleas?" Duck asked. He would not like his answer in the coming days.
