Trivia: Orden's Money System
If there were a ranking system for the countries of Legea, Orden would probably be in the top five economy-wise. Because of her prosperity and influence, her money system is widely used in the north of Legea - in The Journey Chapter 4, Fred tells Falgor "all I have, in Ordenian terms, amounts to less than one thira."
Orden has three main coins: the recenna, the thira, and the copper. Recenna is gold, thira is silver, and copper is, obviously, copper. Recenna is the Thiredanian word for gold ring(the coins currently in use were once made as rings, before Orden followed the growing trend of solid coinage); thira means silver. While other context these words have ordinary Thiredanian plurals (recennare, thirare), when referring to the money no plural is used. Also, even though Thiredanian does not soften the c before e, the widespread use of the word in other countries has changed the sound to a soft c, so that even in Orden it is pronounced "re-SEN-ah" - not "re-KEN-ah".
Twenty coppers will make a single thira, and fifteen thira make a recenna. A day's wages for a common laborer is between 8-12 coppers per day. A craftsman will earn more.
