Casting (In Which I Ramble)

I've always been of the opinion that, while including a cast on a Wattpad book is fun, the writing should not rely on the casting to carry the characters' appearances. The reader should be able to form an adequate mental picture based on the author's descriptive powers alone, not Pinterest or actor gifs. On the other hand, I enjoy the aesthetic and the fun involved. In fact, I've clicked on random books just because I saw they had a casting chapter and wanted to look at all the pictures.

Personally, I avoid casting my characters, at least for the Ceristen series. Like, at all. They're so vivid and established in my mind that I'd rather not have that mental image distorted and altered by a similar but not-quite-accurate representation. But... one time I was scrolling through a friend's dad's Facebook, and this happened.

I did a double take. It was Mordred. In the flesh.

Now, not every feature is fine-tune Mordred's. But the differences are hairsbreadth. Inconsequential. And just look at that face shape, the cheekbones. Even the hair, wow. More than that, the overall look, the carriage, the mood -- holistically, this is Mordred.

And THIS is Mordred. (start at 1:25) (yes, nightwraith17 my go-getting friend stalked out these clips for me)

So yes. I have an eensy-weensy dream cast. Population: 1. (Sean Bean as Berethar exists hypothetically but he's too old by now. T_T)

Anyways. I should do something useful with my life. Like actually write for a change...
