When Magnus got to school the following Monday, he was surprised to see the entire Law 101 class huddled around a bulletin board. Some people were crying, and others seemed disappointed. Magnus looked around to see if he could figure out what was happening, and then he spotted Alec leaning against the opposite wall taking in the scene of students.

"Hey, Alec. What's happening?" he asked. Alec looked up.

"Professor Morgenstern just posted the list of interns." Magnus opened his mouth, but Alec cut him off. "And don't ask, I don't know who got it." Magnus nodded.

"Shall we go see then?" Magnus asked. Alec smiled, and extended his arm, and Magnus looped his though Alec's. They laughed all the way to the board, until Magnus heard a scream of joy. He turned and looked to his side, along with Alec.

"We got it Malcolm!" Annabelle was screaming to her 'boyfriend'. He picked her up, and spun her around. When he put her down, he took her hand.

"Annabelle..." he got down on one knee. "Will you marry me?" he asked. She screech a yes and kissed him. Magnus almost passed out, then and there, but Alec pulled him around the corner.

"Magnus, are you okay?" Alec asked concerned as he waved a hand in front of Magnus' face.

"All of this time I'd hoped, I was patient. I thought that he could see that I was just as smart as he is, and then he'd see that I was worth loving again. I turned my whole world upside down, just so that I didn't have to let him go. And now, it was all for nothing." Magnus pushed himself off the wall and away from Alec to leave, as they turned the corner everyone was gathered around Annabelle to congratulate her and see the ring. Alec grabbed Magnus' hand.

"Wait, Magnus. Look!" He spun him around, so that he could see the paper on the board.

"Is that my name up on the list?" his eyes widened. "Is this a mistake?" he asked Alec, who shook his head. "Okay, I'm definitely dreaming." He extended his arm. "Pinch me." Alec rolled his eyes, but obliged. "Yes, that's my name. Okay I officially feel a whole lot better." Magnus turned around, and spotted Malcolm. Seeing his name, suddenly gave him a surge of confidence.

"Malcolm!" he called out as he made his way over to the couple. "I'm sorry if i've been annoying or anything like that, but I sure look forward to working with you." Magnus said, knowing that it'd be a slap in the face if he knew that he was wrong.

"Working with who?" Annabelle asked, over hearing what he had said. Magnus knowing that she was listening now said,

"Hey, Malcolm do you remember when we spent spring break in that hot tub every night, and we said that nothing else could ever feel so good, well this does!" he said. Annabelle crossed her arms, and huffed. Magnus was done playing nice. Now he was in it to win it, even if it meant playing dirty. He no longer cared about getting a boyfriend, now he wanted to prove her and him  wrong.  "Seeing my name, beats every time we've kissed. You thought I was dumb, Malcolm but really I think that your judgement was poor. Having a spot on that internship list, is like making love with you all night. Oh no wait, it feel so much better!" Magnus said before walking away and back to Alec, who was standing by the list.

"Maybe she's what he prefers now, but last year I was her. Now he's going to come back to me and see that i've moved on to better jobs and bigger rings. 'Cause I don't have to time to cry, I'm too busy loving my name on this list. Oh, I have to tell Clary!" Magnus got out his phone and sent a picture of the paper to Clary. He looked back at Alec, who was amused by this whole situation.

"I'll be there at eight o'clock when they unlock the door, and I'll even dress in black and white. Then we'll see who walks the walk."

"You seem better than you were five minutes ago." Alec observed. Magnus smiled.

"So much better."
