Chapter 5
"Just hit the target!" Eve sounded like she was about to lose her mind. "I'm trying, Eve, but the target keeps moving," I retorted, frustration evident in my voice as I watched the elusive target shift again. Eve rolled her eyes and sighed, "So will your live target. Focus." With that, she shot a light orb at the target, demonstrating the technique once more with precision and ease.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and visualized the target. I gathered all my energy and power, channeling it towards the target. I felt a surge of warmth as my power intensified. When I opened my eyes, I saw the target split cleanly in two. I grinned with excitement and exclaimed, "I hit it!" I started jumping up and down in elation, unable to contain my joy.
Eve smiled, a hint of pride in her eyes, "Finally! It took you long enough." I rolled my eyes, feeling a mixture of relief and irritation, "Cut me some slack, I'm new to all this." Eve chuckled, leaning casually against the wall, "I know, I'm just teasing."
I let out a small huff, crossing my arms in mild annoyance. "I know," I said. Eve chuckled again, "Are you pouting, princess?" I scoffed, my cheeks flushing slightly, "I most certainly am not." Eve raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in her eyes, "You sure about that?" I waved my hand dismissively, trying to steer the conversation back to training. "Anyway, I hit the target. What's next?"
Eve chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement, "That was the easy part, princess." She walked over to the target and picked up the broken pieces, examining them thoughtfully. "Now, the real training begins."
I nearly choked on air, my eyes widening in disbelief. "I thought that was the real training." Eve laughed, a sound that seemed both reassuring and ominous. "No, that was just target practice. The real training starts now." She began to set up a new, more complex target. "And it won't be easy, princess, so I hope you're ready."
"Don't call me princess," I said, my voice slightly higher pitched than usual, betraying my irritation. Eve glanced over at me with a smirk on her face, clearly enjoying her little game. "Oh? And why not, princess?" she teased, her tone dripping with playful sarcasm.
"Because God is threatening my family and my people. I am not a princess at the moment; I'm a fighter," I replied, determination filling my voice. I could feel the weight of my responsibilities pressing down on me, fueling my resolve. Eve raised an eyebrow, intrigued by my declaration. "Oh, really? So you're not a princess anymore? What now, are you a warrior?"
"I'm a fighter," I said with conviction, my voice steady and strong. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect my family and my people." Eve chuckled as she stepped closer, getting in my face at eye level. "Well then. How far are you willing to go?" I clenched my fists, my resolve growing stronger with each passing second. "I'll go to the ends of the Earth if I have to. I'll do whatever it takes to overthrow God and stop him from carrying out his plans."
Eve chuckled again, a look of admiration mixed with amusement in her eyes. "You're feisty. I like that." She smiled and placed her hands on my shoulders, her grip firm yet reassuring. "But you're also young and inexperienced. You have a lot to learn before you're ready to face God."
"I know," I replied, meeting her gaze with unwavering determination. "But I'm ready to learn. I'm ready to fight." My voice was filled with a newfound strength, a promise to myself and to everyone I cared about that I would not back down. Eve nodded, her expression softening slightly. "Good. Then let's get started. The journey ahead is long and perilous, but with your spirit, we might just stand a chance." She turned back to the new target, a silent signal that our training was far from over.
As I watched her, I felt a surge of anticipation mixed with fear. This was only the beginning, but I was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. I would not fail. Not now, not ever.
