Chapter 21

She follows me inside, her eyes roaming over the interior of my home. The inside is just as striking as the outside, with high ceilings and wide open spaces. There's a sense of history and mystery to the place, with antique furniture and curious trinkets scattered throughout.

"Libby, are you okay? Are you hurt? Did they hurt you?" Lilith rushes forward, concern etched on her face as she approaches me and wraps her arms around me in a tight embrace. "Libby, thank the Abyss you're safe. I was so worried about you."

I wince a little, "Ow, Mom, careful. I was stabbed... twice." Lilith pulls back slightly, her eyes roaming over me as she takes in my injured state. "What happened? Who did this to you?" I start counting on my fingers, "Well, first I fought Michael... then I fought God."

Lilith's eyes widen, her expression a mix of surprise and disbelief. "You fought Michael and God... by yourself?" "Well... Ellidy helped," I smile at her. "I see. Thank you for helping my daughter." She looks at Ellidy with a touch of gratitude before turning back to me, her eyes scanning my injuries.

"Yeah, it was nothing," Ellidy says, looking down and blushing. Lilith raises an eyebrow, a small amused smile on her lips. She whispers to me, "She's a cute one, isn't she?"

I roll my eyes, and my mom pinches my cheek "Oh, don't give me that look, Libby. I'm just stating the obvious. You two make quite the pair."

I look at her with the most shocked expression, "Can we focus on how there are multiple stab wounds in me?" Lilith's expression immediately becomes serious again, her focus returning to my injury. "Right, let's take care of that. Come over here and sit down."

Once I'm seated, Lilith kneels down beside me, her hands gentle as she examines the wound. "This is quite a nasty cut. It's going to need some stitches." She glances up at me, a comforting smile on her face, "This might hurt a bit, but I'll try to be as gentle as possible."

Lucifer walks in, his eyes widening as he sees my injured state, his usual carefree demeanor giving way to concern. "Libb..., what in the name of all that's unholy happened to you?" I roll my eyes, "Well, I had a run-in with our wonderful relatives," I say in the most sarcastic tone.

Lucifer's expression darkens, his fists clenching at his sides as he processes my words. He knows precisely who I'm referring to, "Michael and God. Of course." He looks at me, his eyes filled with anger and frustration. But beneath the anger, there's a look of worry and concern. "You could have died. What were you thinking?"

I look down, "I'm sorry. I didn't have a choice. I was being held as a prisoner... well, until she broke me out." Lucifer's expression softens a bit as he appraises her, a flicker of respect in his eyes, "And who might you be, dear?"

Lilith smirks as she says, "Her girlfriend."

He looks between me and Ellidy, a glint of mischief in his eyes, "Ah, is that right? Well, well, well. It seems like you've gotten yourself a girlfriend, haven't you, Libby?" Ellidy and I turn bright pink as I blurt out, "Oh my God, no! She just saved my life, that's all."

Lucifer laughs, clearly enjoying how flustered I'm getting, "Sure, sure, I believe you." Ellidy adds, "That's beside the point." Lilith nods, her focus still on tending to my wound. After a few more moments, she finishes suturing the wound, closing it up with skilled precision, "There you go, good as new... well, sort of. You'll need to take it easy for a few days, let it heal properly."

Lucifer speaks up, "You're telling me Michael did this to you... and God just stood there and let it happen?" "No, God didn't know I escaped until we" I pause for a moment wondering what to say next, "broke into his library." Lucifer's eyes widen at my words, a mixture of surprise and shock on his face, "You broke into God's library? Are you completely insane?"

I think about it for a second, "Slightly."

He smirks at my honesty, but then his expression turns back into concern, "Taking on Michael and God like that? You're lucky to be alive." His expression softens a little. He looks at me with a mix of concern and fatherly affection. "Just... be more careful next time, okay? You've got people who care about you, you know."

I nod, smiling slightly, before responding in a slightly raspy voice, "I should have just tried to sneak out... shouldn't I have?" Lucifer sighs, a hint of amusement in his voice, "Yes, you should have. Sneaking out would have been a far safer plan than picking a fight with God and Michael."

I laugh while saying, "But you should have seen Michael's face when he went flying 10 feet back." Despite himself, Lucifer can't help but chuckle at the mental image. He glances at me, a slight smile on his face. "Oh, I can imagine. The look on his angelic face must have been a sight to behold."

*

It's just me and Ellidy alone. There's a moment of silence between us, a mix of exhaustion and adrenaline still lingering from our recent ordeal. I pause before saying, "Umm, so meet my family. I also have a few sisters and my stupid older brother."

She glances around, taking in the surroundings of my home. "Yeah, that was... certainly an introduction. I wasn't exactly expecting to meet the Devil himself tonight."

There's a brief moment of awkward silence until Ellidy breaks the tension with a small smile. "So... you have a brother, huh? Older or younger?" "Older, first in line." She laughs, imagining what my brother must be like. "I see. And where is this brother of yours? Is he around, or off causing some kind of chaos somewhere?"

I laugh, "No... He's calmer than me, can sit still for more than 5 minutes." Ellidy grins, clearly amused by the contrast between me and my brother. "I have to admit, I'm curious to meet him someday. It must be interesting to have such different personalities in the same family."

I smile at that, then stop. "I'm second in line, that's why I want to—" Ellidy raises an eyebrow, intrigued by my unfinished thought. "Why I need to get this right to make the prophecy happen because without the prophecy, I'm nobody important."

Ellidy gives me a smile and scoots closer to me on the couch. "You managed to hold your own against Michael and God. That's not something 'nobody important' could do. And the prophecy, it's not the only thing that defines you, right? You're still you, and you have your own strengths and abilities, not just what some prophecy says."

She gives me a reassuring smile, wanting to assure me that I am more than just the object of a prophecy. "Maybe the prophecy is important, but it's not everything. You're more than just someone fulfilling a role. You're a person with your own story."

I pull her into a tight hug. Ellidy is slightly surprised by the sudden hug, but she immediately hugs me back, her arms wrapping around me warmly. "You're not nobody, you know. You're capable, and brave, and... pretty damn awesome, in my opinion."

THE END... FOR NOW
