Chapter 11

When I come to, I'm lying in a dark, unfamiliar room. My hands are bound, and a dim light flickers overhead. Panic surges through me as I try to make sense of my surroundings. My mind races, piecing together fragments of what happened. I feel groggy and disoriented, trying to recall how I got into this situation. I struggle against my bindings, but they're tight and unyielding. Suddenly, I hear a door creaking open, and a figure steps into the room.

"Hello, Eve," I say. The figure steps closer, revealing herself to be Eve. "Good, you're finally awake." "Why did you do it? You were my trainer. I thought you cared about me, about my family." "I did care about you," Eve replies, her voice devoid of emotion. "I thought if you won, I would have been able to go to heaven."

I stared at her, shock and confusion etched on my face. "Wait, what? But I thought... you were supposed to be on my side!" She scoffs. "You really thought I would be on your family's side? Your family made me lose everything." I'm getting mad that she blamed my family for that. "For the last time, it wasn't my family that gave you that apple." She glares at me, a look of resentment in her eyes. "That doesn't change the fact that they're responsible for my fall."

I feel betrayed. "But you agreed to be my godmother." "It wasn't personal, princess," Eve says coolly. "I simply saw an opportunity and took it. Michael made me a deal I couldn't refuse." I feel a mix of betrayal and anger boiling within me. "You betrayed me for a deal? That's all I was worth to you?"

Eve meets my gaze, her expression indifferent. "Don't take it personally. It was just business. I did what I had to do. They offered me a spot in heaven." My heart wrenches at her words. "You traded my life for a spot in some stupid heaven that doesn't even want you?"

"So where are we?" Eve motions around the room, gesturing to the dimly lit space. "You're in a holding cell, deep in the underbelly of heaven." My stomach drops as I take in my surroundings. The room is small and cramped, with no windows or natural light. The walls are cold and gray, and the light above flickers, casting eerie shadows on the walls.

"So this is heaven... more depressing than I thought." Eve lets out a snort, not denying the dismal state of the room. "This is just one of many holding cells. Not exactly the epitome of heavenly bliss, is it?" While she's talking, I try to burn through the ropes. My attempts at using my powers are in vain. The ropes are enchanted and impervious to my flame. Eve watches me struggle, a faint smile on her face. "Don't waste your energy. Those ropes are specifically designed to contain demons with fire power."

I cease my attempts, resigning myself to my captivity. "So what now? Are you just going to keep me locked up here? Send God down to kill me, or are you going to do that yourself?" Eve's expression remains stoic, her eyes fixed on me. "Neither. We're waiting for Michael to come down here and deal with you himself." I can feel my pulse quicken at the mention of Michael's name. "And what exactly does he have planned for me?"

"You'll find out soon enough," Eve replies cryptically. "But I can tell you now that it won't be pleasant." I watch as Eve exits the room, leaving me alone in the cell. The silence is deafening, and I'm left with only my thoughts for company.

Time seems to crawl by as I sit there, still bound and powerless. Each minute feels like an hour, and the waiting is maddening. Eventually, I hear footsteps approaching the cell door. The sound of metal keys jingling together announces that someone is coming. The door creaks open, revealing Michael standing in the doorway. His cold gaze locks onto me, and a chill runs down my spine. Michael and Ellidy stand side by side, both regarding me with a look of superiority. The weight of their gazes makes me feel small and insignificant.

"So, the famed chosen one," Michael says, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You don't look so impressive now, do you?" I glare at Michael but stay silent, refusing to give him the satisfaction of a response. "What do you want with me?" I manage to say, my voice betraying a hint of fear despite my best efforts to sound defiant. Michael chuckles, his smile growing wider. "What do I want with you? Oh, so many things. First, I want to make you realize the futility of your cause. You're nothing but a child flailing against the inevitable. Heaven will win this war, and you're just a piece in the game."

Ellidy looks at her feet at the Mention of me just being a piece in the game. Before I can ponder further, Michael's voice cuts back in, drawing my attention. "And secondly, I want you to suffer. I want you to feel the weight of your own failure and the pain of your defeat. I want to relish in your torment and watch as you succumb to despair."

Suddenly, I see Ellidy reaching for something. "But for now," Michael continues, oblivious to Ellidy's actions. "I just want to savor the moment. To relish in your helplessness and the knowledge that I hold your fate in my hands."

As Michael gloats, I watch Ellidy's movements closely. She seems to be searching for something in her pocket, her hands slipping into the fabric stealthily. My eyes widen as I see Ellidy pull out a rock from her pocket. Why would she have a rock? Is it some kind of weapon? Or is it just a distraction tactic?

Michael, who's been so focused on me, finally notices Ellidy's movement. "What are you doing?" he snaps, his gaze flicking towards her. Ellidy freezes, the rock clutched tightly in her hand. She looks at Michael, then suddenly strikes him on the head. He stumbles back, clutching the side of his head as he becomes unconscious.

I watch in disbelief as Ellidy strikes Michael with the rock. He staggers back, dazed and disoriented. This is my chance. Trying somewhat not to laugh, I ask, "What are you doing?" Ellidy turns to me, a look of determination on her face. "I'm helping you escape, what do you think?"

I smile at her. "But why?" Ellidy smiles, her voice filled with remorse. "I'm sick of being stupid pieces in this game." She walks over to me, the rock still clutched in her hand. "Hold still. I'm going to try and break these ropes."
