Unsettling

"You plan on hiding out here all day?" Keira asked Owen as she walked into the raptor paddock that morning. She had awoken to find him out of the Bungalow already.

"Just until he leaves."

"You expect me to face him alone? What happened to doing everything together?"

"You don't have to go. We'll stay right here and let Claire handle it."

"Do you really want Claire in charge of things?"

Owen thought for a moment. "On second thought..."

She grinned as rubbed his thumb in circles over her thigh.

"I don't understand why people can't take a hint and just leave the island alone." he sighed. Keira went to respond when she heard a little screech. She peered down and saw a young raptor walking around.

"Awww look at you!" she said standing up. "Goodness, she looks just like her mother."

"They always do, Blue's genetics run strong apparently."

The young raptor was a lighter blue than her mother with a hint of green from her father. Keira grabbed a rat and tossed it in before Owen could stop her.

"You're going to spoil them." Owen whined.

"But look at that face!"

Barry chuckled coming into the scene walking over.

"Keira will spoil generations of dinosaurs."

Several workers were working on upgrading the filter system of the Mosasaurus tank when they heard a helicopter going overhead. On the opposite side of the sanctuary, Owen and Keira stood with Claire on the helicopter pad awaiting the arrival of President Segura.

"The minute he starts a sales pitch...I'm making like a banana and splitting." Owen crossed his arms.

"Make like a tree and leave." Keira added.

Claire rolled her eyes at the two. "Owen, would you just be reasonable?"

"No." Owen said plainly. "She's the reasonable one." he pointed to Keira. "I'm the kick ass guy ready to spring into action.

"Ugh." Claire groaned. "Why did I stay here again?" she muttered.

"Because you would miss us too much!" Keira said hugging her side.

"Not to mention your boyfriend." Owen added. Claire flushed red.

Before she could retort the helicopter was in sight ready to land.

The helicopter landed on the pad causing the air to whip around before the engine was cut off. A moment later, two men jumped out before another men with a familiar face stepped out. They recognized the man from the television screen. President Mateo Segura.

"President Segura, welcome!" Claire greeted him stretching out her hand. The two bodyguards blocked her way.

"Stand back gentlemen, it's okay." President Segura said. The men exchanged glances before stepping away. President Segura shook her hand.

"You are..."

"Claire Dearing."

"Ah yes, we spoke on the phone."

"Right and this is-"

"Owen and Keira Grady." he smiled at them. Keira smiled before stepping forward pulling Owen with her.

"It's nice to meet you Mr. President."

"Oh the pleasure is all mine, Mrs. Grady." Segura smiled before taking her hand and kissing it. "And please, call me Mateo."

Owen stepped forward clearing his throat.

"Ah, Mr. Grady." President Segura greeted him shaking his hand. He stood in front of the two with a smile.

"The two legends." he said.

Owen made a face before Keira squeezed his hand.

"You two are probably wondering why I'm here."

"Sure." Owen said.

Claire smacked her forehead.

"Well, I've heard so much about this place, I've always wanted to see it in person. Would you mind if we see the dinosaurs and the research labs?"

Owen went to protest but Claire quickly stepped on his foot with her heel to shut him up.

"Follow me, Mr. Segura." she said leading the way. Keira held onto Owen's shoulder as he cursed under his breath. Claire looked over her shoulder at them mouthing all sorts of obscenities.

"I don't like this."

"I know." Keira said. "I don't have a good feeling about this either."

The group stepped out of the two vehicles as they arrived to the plains to observe some of the herds. Keira led the way in.

"Look at all of them." Mr. Segura said. "There must be hundreds."

"There is!" Claire said with a smile.

Keira and Owen didn't share in the same enthusiasm.

"How old is that one?" he pointed to a juvenile Apatosaurus that was rubbing it's neck against a tree.

"She's under a year.' Keira said.

"Not even a year and that big?"

"Apatosaurus's are one of fastest growing dinosaurs."

"Remarkable."

Theo was sitting in the laboratory as Gray was looking at a slide under the microscope. He picked up a flask and sniffed it before placing it down gagging.

"What is that?" he asked.

"A urine sample from a triceratops, we assume to be pregnant."

"Ew." Theo grimaced turning away.

"Never smell something in a lab if it isn't labeled."

He chuckled when he saw his parents walking behind a man who was besides Claire.

"It's President Segura, he's here." Theo said to Gray. Gray looked over before they entered the lab. Theo could see the irritation on his father's face.

Claire walked the president around the lab.

"And who are these young men?" Mr. Segura smiled at them.

"This is Gray, my nephew, he's one of our lead geneticist. And this is-"

"My son." Owen said.

Keira had to hide her smirk as Owen had his chest puffed out as Segura stood near Theo who arose and introduced himself.

"Your son, I can definitely see it." Segura said. "You look like your father." he told Theo.

"Yeah, I get that a lot."

"Do you work in here as well?"

"Not yet." Keira said trying to ease the building tension in the room.

Mr. Segura nodded before looking around.

"Why the sudden interest in our research?" Owen said getting straight to the chase.

"Well, I'm curious about how quickly you can build a dinosaur."

"Build a dinosaur?" Keira repeated through clenched teeth.

Theo held onto his mother's arm.

"Mr. Segura-"

"Please Mateo." he insisted.

"Mateo," Keira said with a stern look channeling her inner Alan Grant. " We do not build dinosaurs, these dinosaurs are genetically created in our labs and cared for until they hatch."

"Right!" Mr. Segura said. "How long does it take?"

Keira furrowed her brow. "It depends." she answered cautiously.

"But they grow up quickly, yes?"

"Yes."

"Exactly, it's amazing how quickly they grow and become massive."

"Where are you going with this?" Owen asked sternly.

"With the recent world population booming, Costa Rica is under constant demand for exports, besides coffee and sugar that we export, we do export quite a bit of meat."

The room went silent.

"After looking at the large dinosaurs out in the field, I saw exactly what the Costa Rican economy needs. Can you imagine the demand for dinosaur meat?"
