We were now walking in the middle of the night as I looked at the smaller houses we were passing by

"Man I can't wait to eat the food you told me about"

"You'll find it infinitely better than the food you used to eat,trust me on that"

"Awesome!"

"It's also the place that will let us go on adventures too!"

"No way!!this must be heaven!!"I yelled out with joy

We continued walking for a while before arrived at a train station where Sarah paid for the both of us

On the train I turned to ask her

"Hey Sarah,can you tell me why you said I can't stay at the castle?"

"It's because of my mother's rules,just because we're friends isn't a good enough reason for them to let you stay there"she said

"Oh I see..."I said in a lower tone

'she's a princess after all,so it makes sense it wouldn't be like those bedtime stories gramps would read to me'

She seemed to realize what I was thinking

"Hey don't worry,just because we can't spend our nights together doesn't mean you can't come over when you want you know"she said which comforted me a bit, mainly because she wanted to comfort me

"Yeah you're right"I said as I went back to looking outside to see all kinds of lights

We got off the train as we continued walking as my stomach started growling again

"Oh man"

"Don't worry,here it is

The adventurers office for requests and bounty hunting!"she announced as we stood next to a large building that had tables and chairs outside almost like the restaurants we passed by

As we were walking in we noticed someone who was taking them in as it seemed like they were going to close down,it was a young girl with purple hair in a dress lifting them on her own

"Maria!"called out Sarah to the girl who noticed her as she smiled towards her while lifting another table like it was nothing

"Oh Sarah! it's great to see you again,sorry I'm a little busy right now"

"Don't worry, we'll help you with it,right drachen?"she asked me as I nodded

"Great!thanks"she said continuing her work

I decided to help lift the burden a bit by making portals under the tables and chairs and teleporting them inside so it would be quicker for them

Not even a minute and the entire area was cleared out as the girl came back from inside

"Wow!what was that?did you learn a new spell Sarah?"

Sarah shook her head as with a proud smile she waved her arms at me

"That would be drachen right here!"she said

"Hello there drachen,thanks a ton for the help why don't you too come in for a bit?"

"Sounds great,we were even starting to feel a bit famished after our travels"

"Alright then,come in"she said as she invited us inside as it also looked like everything was being turned off to close it down

But she turned some of the appliances back on and I got a better look of the inside,

It definitely looked bigger on the inside

"Have these while I prepare your food okay?"she said handing us what looked to be small cakes as she gracefully ate it

I did the same and immediately

I shed a tear

I immediately started stuffing my mouth with everything I could get my hands on

"THIS IS AMAZING!!!"I shouted

"Really? but we got these from the local bakery since these are mainly for display"said maria from the other side of the kitchen

"Oh right...

You've been eating trash your entire life,so eating normal food must be a godsend"remembered Sarah

"Really?you have to tell me what that's all about"

And so Sarah started to explain to Maria the story of how we met,what we encountered on our way here and our current predicament as she had brought in four plates of food as I immediately started demolishing them

"So you're looking for somewhere for your friend drachen to sleep in?"she asked Sarah who nodded

Maria then started to think of something as she was brought back to reality by me simply devouring everything she brought back with her

"Wow talk about an appetite"said Maria

I swallowed what was in my mouth

"My grandpa taught me to never waste any food, especially since we didn't have much back then and I didn't eat anything in ages as well"

"Alright then"

She turned back to Sarah as she seemed to have a solution

"You can probably let him sleep here today until my grandpa Wakes up,he can maybe find someway to help"said Maria

"Really?I can stay here?"I asked her

"Isn't your grandpa the grumpy kind?do you think he'll agree?"asked sarah

"Don't worry I can handle that I don't mind helping a friend of a friend even if it's one night,we have a couch you can use,my gramps made it a point that only customers are allowed to stay in those rooms"she explained

"Isn't that great drachen?you can finally sleep in an actual bed for once"said Sarah

As I was finishing up the food I smiled

"You're right,thanks a lot you two"I thanked them

"We might have only found you a place for today but tomorrow we'll find you a permanent one"she said as I nodded

Sarah looked at the clock on the wall

"Wow, it's getting pretty late I should head back now"said Sarah

"So I'll see you tomorrow?"I asked her

"Yeah sure,I can show you around more"she said as she nodded at Maria before leaving the building leaving only me and Maria

"I'll fetch you a blanket and a pillow while I take you there"she said

"Alright"I said as I followed her

We passed by an enormous board that took up an entire wall with tons of papers stuck to it

"What's that?"

"This is the mission board, people can choose a request they want to take in almost all of them have a good reward for them depending on how much the publishers put in it"

"This is like those stories about adventurers my grandfather used to tell me!!can I do some of my own?"I asked maria

"Well normally you'd need a certified license for it but we can get you one tomorrow"she answered as I looked back at the board

"So awesome"I said under my breath

Eventually she took me to the couch that was in a private area of the building

"If you need anything, I'll be in the room at the end of the hallway"

"Okay,thanks a lot for the help"I thanked her as I looked Around

It looked like a living room

A couch with a chimney in front,a small table in front

I also noticed a board but much smaller than the other one

There were some posters in it but I only noticed one in particular

DARK CROW

DEAD OR ALIVE

REWARD:1,000,000 GOLD

Seeing this I couldn't help but smile in relief, it's a good thing that it was us who took care of that mission

"Alright! I'll enjoy tomorrow to it's fullest,so best to get some more sleep while I can"I said as I took the covers and drifted off to sleep immediately due to how soft and Marshmellowy the couch felt

It had already been a few good hours since I fell asleep

As I was asleep,I switched position to the left only for my nose to slide by something sharp which left a cut in it

This woke me up instantly as I woke up immediately to an old man holding an enormous sword in front of my face

"Who are you and what are you doing sleeping so comfortably in our living room,customers should be aware that we do not take kindly to trespassers"

"I-i-i'm not trespassing!maria let me stay here for the night since I don't have anywhere else!"I said

Hearing that the old man sighed

"Is that so..."he said as he put away the sword

He was somehow carrying it all with one hand

"Well then,at the first signs of dawn,I want you out of this place and never come back again"he said

"Wait what if I want to take a quest?"I asked him as I couldn't care less about the rest

"A kid like you?forget it"he said as he turned away

"But I beat a guy named the dark crow guy though!I saw him on this wall"I said

He then stopped as he turned back to me

"You've what?"

"We fought the guy and even made him promise to never terrorize people again"I said

"And how do you know he was telling the truth?"

"We made a promise to each other, especially since we really seemed to get along"

"Did he tell you his name?"he asked me

"Yes,his name was Howard!"I answered

Hearing that name made him stop completely as he started chuckling to himself

"Hehehehe..."the chuckle then turned into a full on laughter

"KAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

It took him so long to put down his sword,that old guy"he said as he planted his sword on the floor as he looked at me with. New look,one that was much more friendly

"If he sat down and not only talked but also revealed his name to you,then that means he sees you as an adventurer,especially considering those are his favorite type of people to interact with"he said as he sat on a chair in front of the couch

"Huh?you know him?"

"Why yes,him and I were part of the greatest group of adventurer the world had ever seen"he explained

"Really?! you're an adventurer too?"I asked

"Yes,I too didn't know when to stop my journey,even when I had a son and daughter I would still find some ways to slip away

Alas however,my body couldn't handle it anymore so I'm stuck here"he said

"That's so cool!you must have seen so many places didn't you?"

"Of course I did,we discovered almost all the things the world had in store for us,trampled entire kingdoms, fought all sorts of beasts and collected all kinds of stories"he said

I only gave him a full smile

"Think you can share some of them?"I asked him

He smiled

"And what will I get in exchange?*

"I'm gonna go on plenty of adventures myself,so I can do the same for you,fair trade right?"I asked him

He chuckled

"I suppose so

Well then,one day we were in the middle of fighting one of the pillared titans..."he started to tell me about his adventures as the sun started rising

Suffice to say I couldn't wait to get started
