Payback and Payment
about 5 months later, hey there
Izuku's quirk was a complete mystery to the world. It was one of a kind, one that wasn't just a quirk, but seemed like an actual superpower. When news about the murder of an "innocent" classmate went around the world, those who wanted a test subject finally got an excuse to use him.
They sure as hell did, not caring about his wellbeing. UA High was split on their opinions of the boy, one side thinking he was a cold blooded murderer, the other still having faith in his innocence. There were some that absolutely despised him, wanting him dead.
The villain's plan worked out perfectly. To get rid of the potential star student, and turn everyone against him. Unfortunately for them, there were those who didn't turn, but it's not like they could do anything about it. Izuku was shown as a criminal in a gullible world, and their only proof was the murder of Denki Kaminari. Izuku didn't stand a chance in court, hell, they never even gave him one.
Meanwhile, over at the "testing" facility.
Izuku slowly opens his eyes, in a dark room while strapped up on the wall. His whole body felt as if it was on fire, yet for some reason it was relieving to know he wasn't being tested at that moment. His hatred for UA High only rose more each time an injection was made, and he'd lost so many people to blindness. To think another tragedy would strike at a time like this.
In such a hopeless time, who would save him? Or would he have to be his own savior?
He thought to himself, 'What have I done to deserve this?' It's clear he'd done nothing wrong. He felt the hate of others, and it pushed him down into a darker abyss. The feeling of sadness became common, he almost felt numb. He thought the whole world rejected him, but thankfully, that wasn't the case. There was never a happy moment in that environment, and it felt as if he'd never experience one ever again.
His inner thoughts were cut short by the doors busting open, and his heart dropped once again.
"Hello there! Ready for round 3?!" The mad scientist smiled creepily, as he pulled out a vaccine.
Izuku closed his eyes as he braced for the pain.
Even though bracing wasn't that effective, Izuku would try his hardest to get through it.
He expects a very sharp pain to hit, but..
There was none.
He opened his eyes to see only white take over his vision, and he looks around the blank space. Nothing at all.
A tap on his back startles him, and he turns around quickly by reflex.
Only to see a face he hadn't seen in ages, Ikki Kurogane.
Izuku teared up, and slowly walked to Ikki. He hugged him tight, after all, they hadn't seen each other in ages.
"I see you're in a tough predicament." Ikki lets go of the embrace.
"Y-yeah.. I don't get it.. why does everyone think I'm horrible?!" Izuku shouts. "I've been in a similar situation, but discard the testing.." Ikki awkwardly laughs. "How exactly?" Izuku asks in curiosity.
"Everyone thought that I was the absolute weakest in my school. Even the school system was against me passing due to my family's interference. But, this is nothing compared to the situation you're in. You're being both mentally and physically damaged, and used as a test subject. As much as I want to get out there and literally beat the shit out of them, I can't." Ikki explains his own similar situation. "How did you get out of that spot? What did you do?" Izuku was curious.
"I clawed my way to the top, even when the odds were completely against me. I was pretty much kidnapped and forced to do a few of my rounds in that place even though I was being treated horribly, yet I still was able to win all of those rounds. It was all due to the faith Stella and the others put in me." Ikki replies with his experience.
"Faith huh? I'm sure nobody has any faith in me except you." Izuku says in a sad tone. "That's where you're wrong. It's not whether someone does have faith in you, the part where you're wrong is you thinking that everybody hates you. That mindset will only make you think way less of yourself. If you think nobody has faith in you then have faith in yourself, therefore you will at least know someone has hopes for you, even if it's just yourself. If nobody believes your innocence then do everything you can to convince them you are. It's not a matter of people who dislike you, it's a matter of your own will to gain back your freedom and respect."
Izuku teared up again. 'Right.. I have been thinking this wrong. I don't care if everybody hates me.. I need to be thinking of saving myself and then focusing on that..' Izuku thought you himself. He looked up at Ikki, as tears ran down his face. "T-thanks for opening my eyes.. I've been going at this all wrong.." Izuku thanks him. "No problem, and I can't blame you." Ikki chuckles to himself. "Don't let anything alter your faith in yourself. It's dangerous out there." Ikki gives one last bit of advice, until switching the topic.
"Now, you're a bit rusty on your sword skills now, huh?" Ikki looked at Izuku with a confident smile, as Izuku nods in response.
A sword appeared out of no where in front of Izuku, while Ikki was already holding the same one.
"Alright then, let's get you back into it!"
After a while of training and Izuku showing off what he's learned, it was finally time for Ikki to leave, but not before this question. "How are you here? I thought you wouldn't come back.." Izuku questions. "I kept getting your memories in bits by bits in my reality. God, they were gruesome. But I'm not even sure why I'm here. I was already waiting for like 10 minutes when you popped up in front of me out of nowhere, so I just decided to talk to you." Ikki explains. "Oh.. so how will you get back?"
"Well I can hear Stella shouting my name, I think I'm asleep or something. Anyway, I'll be going now, you better bust out of there!"
"Will do!"
...
Izuku opened his eyes to feel extreme pain once again. He was still being tested on, even after his meeting with Ikki in his mindscape.
He couldn't take it anymore. He'd finally woken up to the thought of believing in himself, and he wasn't going to let this happen anymore. But, he was completely restrained. Nothing would help in this situation.
After about 15 more minutes of pain, they'd finally wrapped it up for the rest of the day. Izuku was breathing heavily, in both anger and the result of testing.
Every scientist there was out of the room, except one.
"I'll be leaving later, just gonna check up on him real quick." She tells the main scientist. "Hurry the fuck up. We got work to do." He says as he walks out.
She shuts the door, ensuring that nobody would hear or come in.
"Hello there, my name is Hayami. I've been wanting to speak to you for a while about something."
art isn't mine, obviously
Izuku looked at her with cold eyes. He didn't trust any of the scientists, he'd hated all of them for a while.
"I understand that you're angry, but hear me out, ok?" She requests. "Fine, go ahead."
"These scientists are horrible, corrupt people. I was dragged into it by force, if I didn't, then I could potentially lose my family. Look, I'm the one helping out in those injections." Hayami reveals. She didn't seem like she was lying to Izuku. "You're lucky that I'm not making those vaccines extremely dangerous. Trust me, I'm trying to best to keep you alive. Not for testing, but because this is horrible." Hayami smiles at the boy. "But I will help you out if you want to escape."
Izuku was in both shock and disbelief. "W-wait, you wanna help me? Won't that put your family in danger?" Izuku was concerned. "Of course I am. But you're young, you still have so much to look forward to. I feel horrible knowing that you're dying slowly at such a young age." Hayami reveals her intention.
Meanwhile, back at UA
As we've mentioned before, UA was split into 2. One side believing Izuku to be a cold blooded murderer, the other believing that he's innocent.
"Look, how do you know exactly that he killed him? We were all unconscious!" Tsu shouts back to Monoma, one of the leading people in the "Hate Izuku" movement. Yes, a literally movement.
"How do you know he didn't? Kaminari was dead by the time we woke, what other conclusion would you think of?!" Monoma replies back. "It could've been self defense! Again, we have no clue what happened. Kaminari could've attacked Deku! Plus what other reason would Izuku have to kill Kaminari?" Ochako replies with her own outlook.
"The only lead you have is Kaminari being dead. As much as I disliked Deku, I don't think he'd do something like this." Katsuki defended him. "Even you, Bakugo? Here I thought that you wouldn't be a gullible one." Monoma replies. "Says the gullible one." Sero rolls his eyes.
"What about you, Todoroki? What do you think about this?"
Ochako asks.
"I don't know. It could've been either. I'm neutral on this for now, so can I get some time to think?" Todoroki requests.
"Yeah, thanks." Ochako looked back at Monoma and those behind him. "Izumi? Are you ok as well?" Ochako approaches the distraught girl. "Not really.. thankfully I'm not getting bothered.. but still.." Izumi replies in a sad tone. "It's alright, I'm trying to get through it as well." Itsuka comforts Izumi for the billionth time.
The lunchroom was in chaos. 2 sides argued and argued.
There were some neutral people, that didn't know what to think.
Most of those who were fond of Izuku knew he'd never do something like the news articles described. Even as this was being discussed online, the answer was still not clear. A few government officials thought it wasn't fair to do that without a court.
But there was a support group online too. Those who believed the saying "Innocent until proven Guilty" all made a public forum online, explaining why it wasn't fair to completely despise somebody without real proof. There was no proof of Izuku attacking at random, hell, there was no proof at all.
Back at the facility..
"How do I know you're not lying to me?" Izuku was still
skeptical. "Look at this." Hayami pulls a folded note in her pocket, and opens it up to reveal it to Izuku.
WE HAVE YOUR FAMILY HOSTAGE
VISIT THIS LOCATION
AND WE WONT HARM THEM
At the bottom of the note, it shows the address.
"I get that this isn't a good amount of proof, but even if you don't trust me, I'll still help you out."
Izuku smiles softly, for the first time in ages. "Thank you."
"Anyway, I have a plan for tomorrow. When your first test is being done, make sure to look at me for directions. Trust me, ok?" Hayami informs Izuku. "What plan?" "I don't have enough time to explain it, but you'll feel a lot stronger."
Hayami smiles back and walks away, closing the door behind her, and leaving Izuku once again. He could hear the main scientist scold her from his room, which kind of surprised Izuku.
The next day..
Tests were already about to begin early in the morning. Izuku got rudely woken up by a painful injection by the main scientists, and screamed out. He looked around to see Hayami in the sidelines, not doing anything. She made eye contact with the boy, and tried to signal something. Izuku didn't catch on.
She kept trying to discreetly send him a message, but she failed at every attempt.
She risked it all, and mouthed the words
"On my count, bust out of the restraints."
Izuku was still half asleep but still decided to go along with it.
Until, he was struck with a feeling of his energy being replenished, and he could physically feel himself getting stronger. It was very strange, yet he felt no pain. He looked back at Hayami who had her fingers up.

Izuku used all the strength he could to get out, and succeeded. The restraints seemed as if they were way less tighter, so he got out with ease. The scientists were shocked, but at the same time got scared.
"RETREAT! EVERYBODY RETRE-!"
The main scientist gets knocked out cold, by just one punch of bare strength. The others try to bust out of the room, but to no avail. They were on the receiving end this time around, and Izuku didn't hold back.
"Did you really think that it was ok to.. use me as a lab rat? To mentally scar and break me, just because you're curious of my FUCKING QUIRK?!" Izuku was pissed. All his built up anger came from his whole time there, and Hayami made sure to play the part in being "shocked."
"W-wait kid.. t-this is ju-"
"Just what?!"
Izuku didn't let the man finish his sentence, as he got a nasty punch to his cheek. 'I don't even need Itto Shura.. cowards.' Izuku thinks to himself, as he continues to stomp out the man he punched. He turned his head to the group of those who inflicted pain on him just for fun.
"You know, laughing at another's pain is pretty disrespectful. Don't you think so?" Izuku's eye twitches as he says that, his fist balling up. "It's not! P-please let us free! We won't do anything bad ever again, just please!" They begged and begged.
Izuku cracked his knuckles, and one by one, beat the shit out of all of them. He managed to avoid hitting Hayami, though. There was no mercy, Izuku even grabbed one of the chains that restrained him and strangled a man to death. He stomped on multiple unconscious and dead bodies, ensuring they wouldn't get back up anytime soon.
"Ok, phew." Izuku wiped the sweat off his forehead, as Hayami was dumbfounded. "I just witnessed you kill multiple people.. eh." Hayami shrugged her shoulders. "I'm guessing you didn't like them?" "Not one bit."
"Ok, now, please tell me your plan to escape. We need to get out of here." Since the plan was so sudden, he didn't know any of the details. "We'll just walk out of here. This place is isolated underground, and there's barely any security. Should be an easy escape." Hayami explains.
As they both ran out of the room, there weren't any people around.
That's what they thought at first, until a bunch of security ran into the building. They were luckily able to hide from them, but it just made the escape a lot harder. "Shit, I wasn't expecting company.." She mumbles under her breath, as Izuku just sighs. "They're going into the room, and are probably gonna be trying to investigate the bodies in there." Izuku explains what he thinks.
Every guard was out of sight, and it was left up to Izuku to lead the way. Everything was alright at first, until someone called them out on the spot.
"WE FOUND THEM! FIRE!"
Izuku threw Hayami behind a pillar, as he got a shot right in the elbow. The guards were quickly approaching, and Izuku had one thought in mind. He summoned his sword, and waited patiently.
The guards passed by the pillar they hid behind, as they were confused. There weren't any other blind spots anywhere near.
Until one of them feels a blade go through their back.
Izuku manages to silence them before calling for more backup. He didn't even use Itto Shura, or any of his special moves.
"Izuku, that was awesome!" Hayami smiles in relief and awe. "Ok, cmon!" Izuku grabs her hand and tries to run as fast as possible, until he feels Hayami shout his name. "Hm? What's wrong?" Izuku was confused. "I'm sorry.. I'm.. out of breath." Hayami pants in between pauses. "Oh, I'm sorry. Guess I did go a little overboard." Izuku chuckles. "No no, it's fine. I'll just catch my breath.." Hayami was clearly tired. Despite that, she still smiled as if nothing was wrong.
The smile was precious to Izuku, despite just meeting her.
A smile that quickly faded in a matter of seconds.
A loud bang is heard, as blood starts to seep through Hayami's clothes. Izuku's eyes widen as he realizes what had just happened. She falls to the ground as she clutches her stomach in pain. Izuku looks up to see him, the main scientist.
"WHY?!"
"The slut betrayed me. It was in her contract." The man shrugged his shoulders, as he aimed his gun again. "SHE'S DONE NOTHING TO YOU!" Izuku was completely pissed off. He'd finally found a way to escape, and the person who helped him had been shot.
Izuku quickly grabs Hayami and goes behind another pillar, holding her in his arms.
Hayami opens her eyes slowly, as Izuku looks at her with tears on the verge of falling out.
She cups her hand onto Izuku's cheek, and sadly smiled. A tear ran down her hand, as she remains smiling. It was a smile that was completely different from before.
"Looks like.. that's it.. for me. Please.. make it out.. for me.. ok..?" Hayami weakly says, as Izuku's tears start to flow again. It was something he hadn't felt for ages. The woman he had just met who helped him escape, the one who he barely even got to know. The one who was going to make it out with him, and the one who made sure he was alive and well. His own savior.
Hayami looked back at him with the same sad smile on her face, just to reassure him. "Don't die on me.. you hear me?! Please.. don't die on me!" Izuku shouts, as his tears only fall harder. Everything felt as if it was in slow motion. His own savior was dying in his arms.
"You'll be ok.. without.. me around.. right? You.. better.. be.. or I'll.. ha..unt.. you.." Hayami says weakly, as her voice starts to get quiet. "Don't say that.. please don't say that.. You were going to escape with me! Your family! Please, don't die.. on me.." Before he could even finish his sentence, her eyes closed and she fell limp.
He gently put her down as he looked back at the main scientist, yawning.
"Jeez, you took too long. You must've shot her in the heart with how smooth you are, hahahahaha!"
"Itto Shura." Izuku whispers under his breath.
"Huh? What did you sa-"
He was launched into a wall of the facility. Izuku walked up to him, and put his hand on the man's neck. "Pathetic. Relying on weapons to kill innocent people. You deserve to die in the most painful way possible." Izuku said in a monotone voice.
"What the hell?! Did y-you just had a power boost?!" The man was confused.
Izuku didn't care.
His sword appeared in his hand, and in one solid swipe, the man's arm gets cut off.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAGH FUCK!" He screams in pain, grabbing what's left of his arm. Izuku stabs him in the chest, and whispers in his ear. "Burn in hell."
He takes the blade out of his stomach and stabs him right in the neck, killing him instantly.
Izuku walked back to Hayami's corpse. He sighed as he grabbed her bridal style, to at least give her a respectable grave. The exit was wide open, and finally after 3 months of being shut away from the world, he was finally able to see the sunlight again. He looked down to Hayami, and a tear rolled down his face.
He saw a shovel nearby, and knew he couldn't go far holding a literal dead person in his arms the whole way back. He spent the next 2 hours digging out the hole, and putting the dirt back in. He falls onto his knees in exhaustion, but knew it was worth it. He looked up to the night sky, and gave one last prayer for his savior.
Now to the next situation, getting respect back.
He had no clue how to do it, or where he could go. But, UA was visible from his perspective. 'Maybe I can go back over there? I mean, I just gotta look down the whole time. Maybe that'll work." Izuku sighs. The day was a mix of pain and giving pain. He sat down onto a tree, thinking of how things would've gone with Hayami there with him.
He eventually fell asleep.
...
Many hours later..
"Hey, Taxi. Drive me to UA High. Now." Izuku takes off his hoodie, and the Taxi driver complies. Izuku was played out as a villain on TV by News Channels and Radios, reporting very stupid stories. Of course, the public believed it. Only a handful of people believed in Izuku.
The injection that Hayami made just boosted Izuku's physical strength and quirk. He practiced for a bit, and started his way back after a bit of training his newfound strength. He was grateful to her, and still really missed her.
Izuku gave the money to the driver, and went up the the main entrance of UA High. He walked through the gate in a flash. So fast, it didn't detect a thing. His Itto Shura was on and it's time was extended to a solid 15 minutes.
Alerts all of a sudden went off, as he could hear students shouting and running around in panic. He walks into the entrance, and sees multiple people downstairs running around. He grab's a random girl's shoulder.
"Heyo, can I speak to one of your teachers?" Izuku asked, as it didn't register to the girl until a few seconds later. She shrieked in fear of the boy, but Izuku just had his hands up. "I won't do anything! I swear! I'm not planning on hurting anybody.." Izuku attempts to assure the girl, as her shrieking gets the attention of many others.
"Fuck."
"You there, whats going o-"
Aizawa gets interrupted by the sight of an old face. Izuku Midoriya.
"Students, get away!" He alerts every student in the vicinity, and glares at Izuku, who currently has his hands in his pockets. "Why are you here?!" Aizawa shouts. "I'm just here to talk. I'm not planning on hurting anyone today."
"Ok, can I handcuff you for assurance?"
"Sure."
Izuku gets taken to the principal's office, as none of this news gets reported to the students except the few who saw. Police came into the office, and even the officer who slammed his face into a metal table was there too.
"So, Izuku Midoriya. Tell me, why are you here?" Nezu questions in a calm voice. "I want to prove my innocence. I didn't even get to go to court." Izuku replies, sitting back into his chair.
Meanwhile..
"Jeez, again? Why can't everyone be calm when the alert rings?" Iida asks in annoyance. The students had finally calmed down. "They didn't say who or what it was in the announcements. Maybe it was a technical issue." Ochako replies. "That's a very likely possibility." Iida agrees on Ochako's thought.
"Everyone! Izuku Midoriya is here! In the building!" The girl who saw him in the hallway shouted. She felt it was necessary to share the important information, as Iida and Monoma spit out their drinks at the same time.
"How?! I thought he was locked up for life!"
"He's back? Where?!"
"Did he get released?"
"Did they catch him?"
"IS HE INNOCENT?!"
The whole cafeteria blew up over this.
Back to Izuku..
"Prove your innocence, huh. Hilarious." Nezu gives him a smug look. "Breaking out of prison is your "real" crime now! Ha!" Nezu shouts, as Izuku mentally facepalms. "That wasn't even prison. I was used as a lab rat."
That caught everyone but one person's attention.
"Elaborate."
"I'd get my blood taken for samples and get injected to see what the results would be. Even on my way back here, I lost someone special to me. But sure, go ahead, don't believe me. I'm just a immature fuck who has to be lying, right?" Izuku says in an aggressive tone.
Nezu sat back into his chair.
"Interesting. Who's the one who arrested him?"
"That man."
Aizawa points to the man who slammed Izuku's head.
"You know what? Let's reopen Izuku's case. There could be some truth to his words." Nezu informed everyone there. "For now, you'll be on watch here. If you do anything shady, then you're going back." Izuku nods, as he glares back at the man who arrested him.
"You've fucked up." Izuku says in a spiteful tone.
