Ch. 4: Player One
"Marley," I heard my name echo. "He's coming." I mumbled to myself. The player one character traveled his way close to my waiting position. "Wait. Detect. Strike." I reminded my wandering brain. What is up with this guy. He's Ben going in circles for thirty seconds. "Marley!" The player shouted. "Strike...strike....strike." The player turned and faced me right when I was about to make my jumpscare. But what stopped me was his blue ocean eyes staring into my green ones. "S-strike." I repeated softly. "Hey, hey you!" The player exclaimed. My heart raced, which is funny actually. That's my job to make the players heart race. The player sloppily made his way over towards me. "Strike. Strike. Um... Strike." I tried to focus but it was no use. His eyes hypnotized my brain to travel a different course. "Who...are you?" I dangerously asked. My stomach lurched. I was never allowed to change the "script". It has already been enough that I didn't scare him when I was supposed to. My father. Oh my God, my father! He would kill me!
With a quick jump from my toes I launched my way towards the players face which simulated a jumpscare on the computer screen of reality. I heard the player shout loudly with an accent as he raged in defeat and shook in fear. "Jack!" I heard a low voice call out. "What?!" The player shouted back.
Oh, I thought. It must be one of his friends.
"Please shut up! I'm trying to watch a show."
"Maybe if you were more dedicated in your job than sitting down and watching tv, we wouldn't have this problem."
"Jack, you pushed my off of my chair! I could've been hurt! I could've sued you!"
I decided to leave it to that and get to my secondary waiting spot. With a drunk player on our hands, this is going to be a
looooooooooooooooonnng
game.
