Ballora
Baby's face contoured to one of amusement. I now noticed how smooth the movement was. Like it was skin, no metal.
"Mark,"
She had my name roll off her non-existent tongue. It sent shivers down my spine.
"If you didn't already know. I'm very different from the others."
She seemed to walk next to the window, her gloved hand never leaving the glass. They seemed so thin, so much like a human's. Nothing like the sausage fingers Ballora and the others had.
"I know what to do when everything goes smoothly."
She looked at me through the corner of her eye.
"When there is a problem."
She slammed her hand on the glass, cracking it badly. Her eyes seemed to be brighter.
"And how to get rid of it."
Suddenly the light turned off. I backed into the corner and hid under the desk. I tried to quiet my breath.
A door opened.
Then closed.
Footsteps.
Closer...
Closer...
Sweat rolled down my face. Baby was going to kill me. I was never gonna leave. I snapped to reality when a gloved hand stuck near me. Before I could react, it grabbed my arm and pulled. Another arm wrapped around my chest while the other still held my arm. I started to scream, but the hand holding my arm slapped over my mouth.
"Fool! Listen!"
We stayed silent other than my heavy breathing through her gloved hand.
The footsteps were still there.
They weren't Baby's.
She let go but her hand that was covering my mouth grasped my hand. She looked me in the eye.
"Do not say a word and keep your breathing steady."
She took off through an open door I never noticed. She was running so quickly I was literally off the floor. How were her footsteps silent?! If they were made of metal, they would be clanking. She stopped. It was pitch black. She took a few steps forward. Then stopped.
Steps.
Stop.
Steps.
Stop.
This stop was longer. I tensed up when she spoke.
"Baby? Is that you?"
"Yes Ballora. I just needed to check something."
Baby began to walk again, me following her but we both came to a stop.
"You are not alone, Baby."
I could tell Baby was slightly panicking, signified by her hand slightly squeezing my own.
"I-I'm taking the suit to the scooping room."
"I see. Goodnight Baby."
"Night Ballora."
Metal stomps quieted. Baby took off at her speed and ran into a room. She let go of my hand and closed the door.
"Uh Baby I can't see."
As soon as that escaped my lips, a bright green light filled the room. I looked to the source to see Baby's eyes glowing.
"Mark. You are in great danger. I was able to save you tonight. I can't promise every night."
"Thanks, but where are we?"
"Not important. But you must come here when I tell you. When you crawl through Ballora Gallery, take a left. That is the way to this room. No one comes here. Except me."
I nodded then checked my watch. 5:00.
"Hey, Baby, how do I get to the elevator from here?"
"The door to the left."
"Okay."
I walked over to the door and turned the knob. Right in front of the door was the elevator. The opened and I got in and turned around. Baby was leaning on the door frame.
"Remember. You are in danger. I cannot protect you everytime. HE is after you."
Before I could ask, the doors closed. I mumbled to myself.
"Who's 'he'?"
