Emily was mad about the whole Lorelai was engaged without telling her, Richard, and Elsie, and only found out about it when someone else called.

However, Richard was going on a flight and so Emily was in a rush to get Richard on his way.

Elsie was lounging on the couch, reading, while Emily fretted over things.

The doorbell rang and Emily went to answer the door.

"We're going to have quickly," Emily explained. "Your father has a very early flight tomorrow morning."

Elsie understood the rush Richard had to be in with his early flight, but there was no reason to rush Elsie, Rory, and Lorelai, but Elsie had to shrug it off. She got up and went to the dining room while Emily spoke to Lorelai and Rory, leading them to the dining room. Elsie took her seat while the maid set out plates.

Emily spoke to the maid, "Bring the bread out too. And pour the wine, please." She spoke to Lorelai and Rory, who were coming in. "Come on, hurry up."

"Yeah, 'cause we don't want our salad to get cold," Lorelai said to Rory.

Emily called out, "Richard, dinner!"

"Mom," Lorelai started.

"Eat eat," Emily told Lorelai and Rory.

Rory and Lorelai sat down.

Lorelai asked Emily, "Shouldn't we wait for Dad?"

"Don't worry about him," Emily replied.

"He's the one with the early plane," Lorelai said. "We don't have to go anywhere tomorrow."

Elsie hated that she was thinking the same thing as Lorelai.

Lorelai continued, "We can stay all night. Have a party, do some Jell-O shots, play Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board."

Elsie's mind went straight to The Craft when Lorelai said that. Elsie decided to rewatch that movie.

Emily started eating her salad.

Lorelai said, "Okay, pass the bread."

Rory took the bread basket, "Grandma, Elsie, would either of you like some—"

"Yes, please," Emily said.

Richard came in, "You started." He seemed sad.

"I haven't yet," Elsie told him. "I was waiting for you."

"You have a six o'clock flight," Emily told Richard.

Richard seemed confused, "Six o'clock? Are you sure?"

"What do you mean am I sure?" Emily said, "Of course I'm sure. I double-checked it three times with your secretary because I know she's an idiot and all three time she told me six o'clock. I wrote it down, I have your ticket right out on the..." She paused. "You're teasing me."

Richard replied, "Very possible."

"I don't find that amusing, Richard," Emily replied.

"Exactly the point of teasing, Emily," Richard said. He looked at Elsie and smiled widely, "Hello, Elsie."

"Hi," Elsie replied.

Richard looked at his daughter, "Hello, Lorelai."

"Hello, Father," Lorelai replied.

Richard seemed ashamed and slightly nervous, "Rory."

Rory looked back, "Grandpa."

Richard asked, "May I speak with you for a moment, please?"

"Okay," Rory replied, getting up and following Richard out of the dining room.

Lorelai seemed confused, "Hmm, I wonder what's that all about. I guess we'll find out later, right?"

Elsie wondered who Lorelai was talking to, because Lorelai sure as hell wasn't talking to Elsie.

Lorelai looked around and looked at Emily, "Hey, what happened to Shusha?"

Elsie tried the salad and frowned, "Is this dressing new?"

"Why yes it is," Emily replied.

"It has a hint of lemon in it," Elsie said.

"So that's what I've tasted," Lorelai replied. Richard and Rory walked by the dining room. "Hey, where you guys going?"

"We'll be right there," Richard said.

"Well, hurry, 'cause you're missing one hell of a conversation," Lorelai told them. To Emily, she said, "You know, Mom, I'm really loving this salad dressing."

"I'm glad," Emily replied. She looked at Elsie, "So, what your plans for the summer."

"Anthony wants me to go with him, Skye, and his parents to Cape Cod for the summer," Elsie said. "Pepper wants me to go with her and her family to Iceland."

Emily hummed, "Decisions."

"Yeah," Elsie replied. "I was thinking splitting it in half. I'll stay with Pepper and her family for a few weeks and spend the rest of the summer in Cape Cod."

Lorelai said, "Mom?" Emily hummed in acknowledgement. "I have something to tell you."

Emily asked, "Yes?"

"Well, it's like this," Lorelai started. "Um...could you two put down your forks for a second?

Elsie and Emily set down their forks, maybe because Lorelai thought they were going to stab them with their forks. "Thank you. Okay, um, you know Max?"

"No, I don't," Emily replied.

"He's my English teacher," Elsie said. She knew where this conversation was going.

Lorleai said, "Okay, I know you don't know him, but you know of him, right?"

"All I know is that he's Elsie and Rory's English teacher," Emily said.

"And he was the teacher that Mother was caught making out with him during Parent Day a bit ago," Elsie added.

"Oh, that Max," Emily replied.

"Yes, thank you for the reminder, Eloise," Lorelai said.

Elsie fake a smile, tilting her head a little, "You're so very welcome, Mother."

Lorelai started again, "Okay, well, um, the...Max and I have been serious for quite awhile now, and he asked me to marry him and I said yes. I'm getting married."

Emily said, "Well I think that's very nice. I certainly hope we'll be in town for it, but if not, I promise we'll send a nice gift and I hope that Elsie can find a nice card to send."

"Maybe I'll send a snow globe from Iceland as well," Elsie said.

"Now excuse me, I'm going to check on the roast," Emily replied, getting up and going into the kitchen.

Lorelai looked at Elsie, "She's seriously letting you go on vacation with a guy?"

"Skye's going with us," Elsie said. "Cass trusts me and Anthony. Vivian trusts me and Anthony. Besides, he's going to need someone to make sure he doesn't run through the woods like a crackhead from Philadelphia."

Elsie had packed her things in her suitcases for her trip to Iceland and then Cape Cod.

After that way done, she had invited her friends over for one last 'hurrah', which was a pajama party, before they went separate ways for the summer holidays.

They were watching The Craft when the doorbell started ringing repeatedly, which ruined the movie. So, Elsie got up and went to go check on whoever was ringing the doorbell.

Emily opened the door. Lorelai and Mr. Medina was standing there.

Emily said, "What on earth?"

"Hi, Mom, Eloise, do you have a sec to chat? Super," Lorelai said, coming into the house.

Emily asked, "Lorelai, what is this?"

Lorelai said, "I just wanted to see how you two were, that's all."

Elsie wished that she was in anything else other than in her pajamas for Mr. Medina to see.

Mr. Medina seemed as embarrassed as Elsie felt, but he was in a nice suit.

"We're both fine," Elsie said, annoyed at being interrupted in her movie night and embarrassed at being in what felt scandalous pajamas in front of her teacher.

"You both are? Oh, good, good," Lorelai said. "I'm glad that you're fine. I, however, am not fine."

"Your father and I were just about to go to bed. And you're interrupting Elsie's movie night with her friends," Emily said. "We can do this in the morning."

"Actually, Mom, no," Lorelai said. "We can't do this in the morning. We really need to do this right now."

Elsie was frowning, "Go home, Mother. You're drunk."

"I'm not drunk," Lorelai said. "I'm confused."

"About what?" asked Emily.

Lorelai said, "About you two."

Emily asked, "And what about Elsie and me confuses you, Lorelai?"

"Well, so many things," Lorleai started. "I mean, for example, why can't you keep a maid in this house? I mean, there must've been a thousand women who've gone through here in the thirty-two years that I've been alive and no one of them could stick it out."

Elsie had to admit that she had a point there and arched an eyebrow, "Is that why you're here?"

"These are women from countries that have dictatorships and civil wars and death squads and all of that they survived, but five minutes working for Emily Gilmore and people are begging for Castro," Lorelai continued ranting.

"All right, I'm going to bed now and Elsie should return to the movie night with her friends," Emily said.

"And why is it that when your only daughter—" She spoke to Elsie, "—and your mother tell you that she is getting married, you both can't even muster up even a little enthusiasm? Even a little fake enthusiasm. Why don't you pretend that you care? I mean, this is the biggest thing to happen to me possibly for the rest of my life, and you both dismissed it like I said, 'Hey, I'm thinking of getting a Honda. What do you think?'"

Emily said, "You're obviously hysterical!"

Lorelai said, "Why don't you care? Why have you never cared? No matter what has happened to me my entire life, you've never been happy for me, and that hurts, Mom, it really hurts!"

Elsie said, "Funny, because I've wondered the same thing about you for years. How can I be happy for the person that I only saw twice a year and now only see once a week and don't even know? You don't even talk to me and it's only to bitch at me about my boyfriend!"

Emily said, "And we're not discussing this with you."

Lorelai continued, "Do you know how it felt for me to tell you that I was getting married and to have you just brush it off like that? Do you know?"

"Same way I felt after you brushed off the fact that I made it in top 1%," Elsie said. "And not even a congratulations from you. Just a dirty look towards Cassian, who you never even bothered to talk to, by the way."

Cassian didn't even care, but Elsie felt a bit bad.

Emily added, "Possibly very similar to finding out from a complete stranger that my only daughter was getting married and had told every other person in the world before she bothered to tell her own mother and other daughter. Possibly it felt something like that. Now if you'll excuse me, it is late, and I am going to bed and Elsie has a movie night to finish." She opened the front door and Lorelai walked out.

Elsie looked at Max and arched an eyebrow at him. She thought, you sure you want to marry into this family?

Max said to Emily, "Um, my parents would really like to have lunch you and Mr. Gilmore, sometime...soon. Nice meeting you." He took off.

Elsie turned to see that her friends were lined up, leaning against the banister, eagerly watching shit go down like it was 1776.
