December 30th-

It was time for Jessica to get back to work. She didn't know if she'd come back to New York or not but then she decided it was best to go back, pack up some of her things, and speak with her boss.

Leaving Danny was hard for Jessica. She didn't want to leave him.

Danny helped Jessica get all of her things out of the car. They were at the airport late at night for Jessica's flight.

"I'll see you very soon. Don't forget that." Danny says

"I love you." She whispers into his ear

"I love you too. Call me everyday."

"I'll call you every hour!."

"Great. Have a safe flight."

"I will."

"Hey, we will see each other soon. Just give it time." He holds her to his chest and doesn't let her go.

Jessica's POV-

I hate always being back where I started. Standing at my doorway with my luggage in my hand. Jesus, when I leave I always tell myself I'm not coming back. When I left a week ago I promised myself that id get Danny back and stay with him in Minnesota. Then I give in and come back... but why? Why do I always come back? What's holding me back is my question. Is it my job? My apartment? Sarah? God what is it? Can't I just make up my mind for once in my life?

Jessica had to come back to New York to speak with Mark. It was urgent, he needed Jessica. Jessica just wanted to be in Danny's arms. She didn't want to think about deadlines and shitty bosses. She had come to hate New York. She only loved it when Danny was there. Jessica felt like she was stuck in a rut. Danny didn't want her to quit her job and deep down inside she didn't want to either. she knew Danny didn't want to leave his practice. There was so much to sacrifice.

The next morning Jessica woke up early. Like routine she made her bed, took a shower, did her beauty routine, and made breakfast. She added something new to her routine- FaceTiming Danny. She propped her iPad up against her table centerpiece taking small bites of her oatmeal while Danny shaved. She watched him and slowly fell into a daze.

"So you have an urgent meeting with Mark? Wonder what the ass wants now." Danny says

"Oh gosh, I don't know. I don't want to think about it either. I've been packing up some things. Make room for me!"

"Maybe it's good. And I'll clean out my dresser today!"

"I doubt it. The only good thing he could say is that I got a job promotion." Jessica rolls her eyes and pushes her oatmeal aside.

"What's wrong, baby?"

"I just miss you!"

"Well I miss you too. Things will start to fall together. I promise you!"

"You know what I really miss?" Jessica bites her lip.

"Haha... I do too. But you are going to miss your meeting. It's seven-thirty! You better get your butt moving." Danny exclaims holding the camera up to his face.

"Oh shit! Thanks! I gotta go, I love you."

"Love you too. Good luck."

Jessica slid into a knee length dress, pulled her tights up to her hips and hopped into her heels. She grabbed her purse and headed to her building.

As she was walking in she saw Mark waiting outside of his office. He was tapping his foot patiently waiting.

"Jessica, god damn there you are! Come in, now!" He exclaims

Jessica huffs then runs in. When she walks in marks office was almost empty. She was shocked. She sat down just as he did.

"What's going on?" Jessica asks curiously

"I need to talk to you. It's important."

"Am I being fired or something?" she says

"No! Of course not! Something has come up, Samantha and I are getting married. Better yet we are moving to New England to be near her family."

Jessica leaned forward and widened her eyes. Inside she was thinking, who would want to marry Mark? He's an ass... oh yea money.

But this came out- "Oh Mark! That's great!"

"So you're probably wondering what this means for our department. Obviously I can't work from England."

"Yea... what does this mean?"

"I was talking to corporate. They wanted recommendations for my replacement."

Jessica nods as she waits for more.

"Congrats, you have my job. You, Jessica Lange, are head of the writers department."

Jessica's heart sank. She smiled and almost cried. It all happened so suddenly and she was so shocked. She didn't know what to say or do. Then she thought about Danny. How was it that just this morning she was packing to go back to Minnesota and planning to quit her job?

"Oh my god, Mark are you serious?"

"It's only if you want the job. You have all your own times, you can work from anywhere, and it pays well. You are the best on the team. I feel like you can take this department far. That's why I chose you."

Jessica stands up and hugs Mark.

"Now, I leave in March. I'll be here for a few more months. Until then I say go take a trip or something before the big job starts. We will have people take over all of your work. You'll want this vacation."

"Mark, I'm lost for words."

"You'll thank me later. Just give yourself some time to think about it. I need to know by the end of the week."

After all the excitement sunk in and Jessica's work day was over she wanted to go call Danny. She didn't know how to tell him. Jessica wanted this job more than ever. Her plans of moving back with Danny completely vanished. She wouldn't trade this job for the world.

Jessica got home and called him immediately.

"Jessica!" He exclaims

Jessica smiles and waves hello.

"God you are gorgeous and I miss you." He adds

"You are too sweet. How was your day?"

"Well... it was amazing! I cleaned out my dresser. It's all yours."

"It's all mine?"

"You have the big one."

"Aww, thanks." She giggles

In that moment Jessica had the feeling that maybe Danny for sure thought that Jessica would be coming to live with him.

"How was that meeting?"

"It was actually really great." She nods

"You only said it would be good if he gave you a promotion. So what happened?"

"That's the thing..." Jessica smirks

"What?"

"Danny... I'm head of NY MAG writing department." Jessica exclaims. She was all smiles and couldn't stop.

Danny was silent at first he blinked a few times. "Wow. Oh my gosh. Wow." He smiles

"Danny, what does this mean?"

"This means I'm flying out there to celebrate with you!"

"No, you can't! What about our plans? I was suppose to quit and move in with you."

"Oh I can. And I will. God I'm so proud of you."

"Danny but us. What does this mean for us?"

"Don't worry about that right now."

"I have to. I was just packing this morning."

"You deserve this. You really do. I'm not going to let you give this up."

"I didn't take the job yet."

"What? Why!"

"Because, this is something we really need to discuss. This is big, really big."

Danny sighs. "Gosh, I know."

"I don't want you to leave your practice."

"God damn, we are stuck in a rut again!"
