A week had passed and Danny was not himself. After his mothers outburst over the phone he was lost for words. He didn't know what to do or say. Everything Jessica would try to talk to him about it he'd push the situation to the side and act as if he was okay.

Jessica knew that Danny's mother was still going through a hard time after the loss of her husband. Jessica could relate since she saw her mother go through the same state.

One night Jessica was heading into the shower. Before she got in Danny was in their room, reading.

Once she got out Danny was gone. Jessica quickly slipped into her robe and walked around the apartment trying to find him.

After she got clothes on she stepped outside and saw Danny tossing his phone from one hand into the other.

Jessica quietly sat down next to him and rested her head on his shoulder, rubbing his back.

"Baby, why don't we talk about this. I hate seeing you so upset." Jessica says softly

"I'm fine, I just needed some air."

"No... you're upset."

"I just got off the phone with my sister. My moms been like this for a while. She isn't well."

"Maybe you should go see her. I bet she just needs you."

"You're right...."

"...Come with me." Danny turns to Jessica and takes her hands.

"To Minnesota? I go back to work next week."

"It will be a quick trip. My mom can see us together and see that we are happy. That will make her happy, I know it, babe. Please."

Jessica puts her head down then nods. "You don't think she'd mind if I come? She didn't seem too happy about us being together."

"I'm sure. She has always loved you. We can see your family too."

"Okay, I guess we are hoping on another plane?" Jessica chuckles

"Angelica just said my moms going through a funk. If I'm there maybe it will help her. My brothers are coming to town too. We'll see."

Jessica looks into Danny's eyes then nods. She wraps her arms around him and hugs him tightly.

Before and Jessica and Danny knew if they were on another plane. The whole trip back to Minnesota Danny was anxious. He didn't know how his mother would react or how she'd be around him.

The plan was for Jessica and Danny to take separate cars. Jessica was going to her moms and Danny was going to his moms.

When they landed their taxi's were both waiting for them. Danny helped load Jessica's bag into the car.

"I'll call you when I get there. I just need to go see what's going on." Danny says holding Jessica's hands in his.

"I understand. I'll let you know when I get to my moms."

Danny kisses her lips then slowly starts walking to his car.

"Hey!" Jessica shouts

He turns around

"It will be okay. I love you."

"I hope so. I love you too."

A few hours later Jessica arrived at her mothers. Dorthy was waiting on the patio to greet Jessica.

"Oh, my love you're here!" She runs to the taxi cab and hugs Jessica. Jessica smiles softly and hugs her mother.

"Where's Danny? Did he come?" Dorthy says looking around.

"No, he's actually with Mrs. Huston right now."

Dorthy's smile slowly vanishes. "How is she? I saw her at church last Sunday... she just didn't seem-"

Jessica stops her and nods "She's not doing well."

"That's such a shame... I hope she gets better. She was always such a nice and happy woman."

Dorthy cooked dinner for Jessica. The two of them sat at the dinner table talking and catching up.

"I'm so glad you and Danny are together and happy." Dorthy says

"I am too. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, it's just, well honestly I don't know." Jessica chuckles

"Aww it's quite alright. I know now and I'm just thrilled. Hopefully I can see you two together while you're in town."

"Yes, for sure."

"You're only here for the weekend, right?"

"Yes, I start my new promotion on Monday. Mark leaves Tuesday."

"How amazing! Gosh I almost forgot, congrats!"

"Heh, thanks."

It was silent for a bit. Jessica watched her mothers profile and saw how she looked a bit nervous, it was as if she had something to say but was afraid to say it.

"Is everything okay, ma?" Jessica says

"Hmmm, oh! Everything's just fine! Just thinking about what I'm going to make you and Danny for dinner when he comes. Are you finished?" She says looking at Jessica's plate.

"Ahh, yeah. Here let me help you."

"Oh, no no no! You go rest. You must be exhausted."

Jessica wasn't buying what Dorthy was saying. She knew something was wrong but she didn't want to push her.

Jessica decided to excuse herself then call Danny outside.

"Hey babe, how's it going?" Danny says answering the phone.

"It's going. Somethings up with my mom, heh! But she's excited to see you. How are things going with your mom?"

"Not amazing. She just seems so mad! I don't know why. Ang is here and so are my brothers. I think she's just really missing my dad and she's frustrated."

"I'm sorry, is there anything I can do?"

"Maybe come over for brunch tomorrow? If it's okay I'm going to stay here for the night."

"Oh course."

"Thanks. I love and miss you. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Love and miss you too. I'll be over tomorrow."

"Get some rest."

The next morning Jessica slipped into a long skirt and blouse for brunch. At first Jessica didn't think she'd be nervous, but she was more nervous then ever. After hearing Zoe's reaction to Jessica and Danny being together she couldn't help but think maybe Zoe didn't want them together. But Danny wanted Jessica at brunch this morning so she wasn't backing out of going, no matter how nervous she was.

Jessica went downstairs and Dorthy was on the phone. When Dorthy noticed that Jessica was behind her she quickly got nervous and hung up the phone.

"Who was that, ma?" Jessica says putting on her sandals.

"Oh, no one! Mmmm, how long will you be gone for today?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe after lunch time. Why? Did you want me to bring anything home."

"Uh, no. That's fine. Stay out as long as you'd like."

"Okay." Jessica laughs awkwardly

"Actually... just call me when you're on your way home."

"Alright Mom, I will."

Jessica pulled into Zoe's house and immediately her heart started racing. She sat in her moms car for a bit, just thinking. Then Danny runs up to the car scaring Jessica.

She gasps and holds her chest. "Damn it Danny. You scared me!"

"I'm sorry babe." Danny leans into the car and kisses her lips.

"What have you been doing out here. Aren't you coming in?" He says helping her out of the car.

"Sorry, I was just-"

"Don't be nervous. My mom will be happy to see you."

"Does she know I'm coming?" Jessica closes the door behind her and looks around.

"Well, no. But she'll be happy."

"Danny!" Jessica widens her eyes

"It's fine. Just come in."

Danny opens the door to Zoe's house. He held Jessica's hand and she followed him in. Everyone's eyes were on Jessica when she walked in. Danny's sister and brothers were ecstatic to see her.

"Oh, Jessica! Oh my god! Look at you!" Angelica says running over to her and hugging her.

"Hi Ang, you look great." Jessica says hugging her

"How have you been?"

"I've been fine, and you?"

"Good. How glad I am to see you."

"Aww! And all of you too!" Jessica hugs Danny's brothers then looks at Zoe who stood at the doorway of the kitchen. Her face was blank and the room when quite.

"Mrs. Huston. It's really nice to see you." Jessica says walking up to her.

At first Zoe didn't say anything, then suddenly tears rolled down her face. She seemed relieved.

She walks up to Jessica and hugs her tightly and cries. Everyone was a bit confused.

"Jessica. It may have been a few years but you will always call me Zoe!"

"Hah, okay." Jessica smiles

"You look beautiful."

"Thank you." She smiles

"I'm about to finish up brunch. You make yourself at home, alright?" She wipes her tears then goes back into the kitchen.

Jessica nods and walks over to Danny. He pulls her aside and gives her a kiss once everyone leaves the room.

"Hey babe."

"Hi!" She giggles

"Can you tell todays a much better day?"

"Yes."

"We had a long family 'meeting'. We just talked to her a lot and helped her. She's still a little, yanno. But she'll be okay."

"I'm glad, babe."

Later that day Jessica, Danny, and Zoe were sitting in the kitchen talking while the grandkids and Danny's siblings were running around downstairs.

"Danny, I just wanted to say how sorry I am about how I-"

"Ma, it's fine... I understand." Danny looks over at Jessica and takes her hand. Zoe watches him do so then smiles.

"I really am happy that you two are together. Ever since I met you Jessica I just prayed to god that you and Danny would always be together."

"I'm happy we are together too." Jessica smiles

"So what's next then?"

"Well, Jessica starts a new job Monday."

"That's great! But I mean what's next for you two? Marriage?"

"We aren't sure. We aren't in any rush."

"Hopefully marriage then kids." Zoe smiles

"Haha, maybe not now, sooner or later I hope."

Jessica's heart began to hurt once she heard the word 'kids'. Her happy emotions and smile quickly faded, she couldn't help it. Luckily, no one noticed her reaction. Jessica and Danny already discussed kids. She didn't want any.

"Thinking about you two having a family makes me so happy. It really does!"

"Me too, ma." Danny nods

Jessica ended up staying at Zoe's longer then expected. The whole day Jessica was flustered over Danny telling his mom that the two of them plan to start a family. She didn't know if he meant it or not.

Danny was going to spend one more night at his mothers before he stayed at Dorthy's. He walked Jessica to her car. He had noticed that Jessica was upset and thought Now was the right time to ask what was wrong.

"Jessie?" He says taking her arm.

Jessica ripped it away from him and grunted.

"Whoa, what's wrong?" He says backing off

"Danny!" Jessica says loudly

"What's wrong? You've been upset!"
He says

Jessica covers her face and shakes her head. She was about to cry. There was only one bump in Jessica and Danny's relationship. And that was kids. Jessica always told herself that she would not make a man stay with her if he wanted kids. She didn't want to take parenthood away from him if he really wanted it. Jessica was never going to give Danny kids, she didn't want that to end their relationship.

"I've asked you this once, I know. I just have to ask again... Danny, do you want kids?" Jessica's eyes teared up and she couldn't keep it in any longer.

Danny rubs his face and sighs. "Jess-"

"Don't lie! Don't avoid this question."

"No, I want you."

"You're lying! Danny, I heard you talking about kids with your mother. You're face lit up and you seemed so happy. You told her 'sooner or later'. What is that suppose to mean?"

"What if you change your mind?"

Jessica began crying even more. "I'm not going to change my mind!" She cries

Danny went blank. "Okay then. That's fine."

"No, it isn't. You want kids."

"Jess, it's either or. As long as I'm with you."

"Damn it! Don't you understand, I don't want to keep you from being a father. If that's important to you I can't take that from you. I remember when we were younger all you talked about what having kids. That passion of starting a family doesn't go away."

"Hey, don't cry." Danny pulls Jessica to his chest and sways back and forth.

"Danny..."

"Jess..."

"I'm not taking parenthood away from you. I love you too much." Jessica breaks away from Danny and opens her car door.

"Babe, come on."

"I know you want kids Danny. I can't be selfish and make you think that I'll change my mind." Jessica hated what she was about to do, but she was possibly about to do it.

"Listen to me, I want you. Yeah kids are cool and all but I love you more then anything. I love my life with you. I don't want to lose you or argue over this."

"I love you too much to let you stay with me."

"Jess, come on." Danny gets anxious and worried. He could tell that something not so good was about to happen.

Jessica wipes her tears and takes a deep breath.

"I can't let you stay with me. What if you change your mind? What if you leave me to have kids? I don't want to take that happiness away from you."
