Long Run
January 10th-
After a few weeks of being in New York Danny began working with his friend who was also an eye doctor. Finding a job was finished so now the new challenge was finding an apartment. Danny had been stressed trying to find the perfect place.
In the morning Jessica brought a cup of coffee into the living room for Danny while he scrolled through the computer trying to find apartments.
"How's it coming?" Jessica says sitting down next to him.
"Horrible, actually. I just hate this. I can't find anything I like." He shuts the computer and sets his body back onto the couch.
"You know... I have an idea." Jessica says softly
"You do? What is that?" Danny sits up and smiles.
"I've been thinking for a while. I mean we've taken so many risks, not that this is a risk but instead of buying an apartment you should just stay here... with me." Jessica looks at Danny blankly. She wits for a response until he smiles.
"You really don't mind? I mean of course we will split bills and all of that." Danny wraps his arms around Jessica and hovers over top of her on the couch. She giggles then brings his lips to hers.
"I'm so happy with you. Now that we are in the same state, I'm not losing one second with you."

A week later-
Danny and Jessica spent the last week organizing all of Danny's things. He was no longer living out of a suitcase. Jessica made her home his. The feeling of waking up to Danny every morning was something that Jessica wouldn't trade for the world. No matter what, she just wanted to be with him.
Soon it would be a month since they decided to be together. They both kept it a secret from their families and friends. Not because they were ashamed, but because they wanted to wait. They liked the idea of just the two of them knowing. Eventually they would have to tell their families.
"Hey Danny, can you come here?" Jessica says from her studio.
Danny stops what he's doing and runs into her office with a smile on his face.
"What's up?"
"I just got this invite from Sarah and Evan. They are having a gender reveal party. Do you want to go?" She smiles
"I'd love too! Sarah knows about us right? I don't want to show up and her be shocked or something."
"She's the only one!" Jessica giggles
"Do you know what this means?" Danny says taking Jessica's hands and lifting her up.
"Hmm?" She smirks
"This is kinda our first 'party' together. We are going as a couple! And official couple!"
"Oh gosh, we sound like a bunch of teenagers... but you are right." Jessica presses her cheeks into Danny's chest and holds him.
"It all feels so real. You and I living together... going on dates... coming home to you every nigh... waking up to each other... I just can't process it all. When we were in high school we had quite the love story. Now we are in a different time with an even better story. We are both adults now. It's even more real than its ever been before."
"Aww, you're so sweet." Jessica kisses his lips.
"I'm just really happy. I haven't been this happy in a long time. I want to spend my days with you, forever."
"This is just the beginning."
**
"Danny, you can't wear green to a gender reveal party." Jessica whines
"What? Why not! Is there a dress code?"
"Yes, strictly blue or pink. You have to wear the color that you think the baby is. What do you think the baby will be? The baby can't be an alien." Jessica walks towards the closet and waits for Danny to answer.
"A boy?"
"Great! Luckily you have tons of blue polos." Jessica pulls out a blue shirt and throws it at Danny.
"Hurry, we will be late!" Jessica says rushing out of the room.

Later that day Jessica and Danny made it to Sarah and Evan's house. When they got there the whole lawn was decorated with blue and pink decor. Jessica held Danny's hand as they walked up to greet Sarah and Evan.
"Look who it is! How long has it been again?" Sarah comes up behind Jessica and hugs her.
"Sarah, look at you! You're absolutely stunning." Jessica smiles
"Thanks! Danny, it's so nice to see you." Sarah says
"It's nice to see you too! Congrats on your pregnancy."
"You think it's a boy? Everyone seems to think so. I'm the only one wearing pink." Sarah looks around the lawn and smiles.
"I guess you are. We will have to see." Jessica exclaims
"I'll try to go find Evan for you, Danny. He's probably talking about football or something!" Sarah runs away and Danny turns to Jessica and smiles.
"This is all so nice." Jessica says
"Yes, it is. We should do something like this when our time comes." Danny smiles
Jessica stopped smiling and became frozen. Before Jessica could say something Evan ran up to Danny.
"Hey bud! So glad you came! Want to come watch the game with me?" Evan puts his arm around Danny's neck and walks away with him.
Jessica was breathless. Sarah came up to her and giggled. "Gosh, guys and football. I'm so glad you can Danny came."
Jessica snaps out of her daze and puts on a fake smile. "Yeah."
"Are you okay, jess?"
"Hmm? Yeah! I'm just fine!"
**
After dinner everyone gathered around Sarah and Evan who held a black ballon above their head. Jessica and Danny were finally reunited. He stood next to her and held her. Jessica was quite around him.
"Is everyone ready?" Sarah exclaims
Everyone claps and Sarah holds the needle close to the balloon.
"Three... two... one!" Sarah pops the ballon.
"Oh my god! A girl! I knew it!" Sarah starts to cry and Evan spins her around.
"Everyone was wrong!" Jessica says to herself looking at everyone in blue.
"Haha, look at that." Danny says

That night Jessica and Danny laid in bed together watching a movie. Jessica couldn't focus on the movie. Only on what Danny said earlier about "when our time comes".
"That had to hurt." Danny points to the tv and laughs.
Jessica turns to him and sees how happy she is. But she had one question that she had to ask Danny.
She reaches for the remote and pauses it.
"Really?" Danny whines
"We need to talk. This has to be serious talk."
"Okay. Serious talk." Danny nods
"I just have a quick question. We've never asked each other this question."
"You're making me nervous."
"I'm making myself nervous." Jessica sighs
"What's going on, babe?"
"Do you want kids?" Jessica says as quickly as possible.
Danny freezes and puts his head down. "Yeah, I do."
Jessica rubs her face with her hands and shakes it back and forth.
"What made you bring this up? Do you want kids?"
"At the party you said something about 'when our time comes'. You want us to have children?"
"Well I mean yeah... we are in this for the long run. It isn't some kind of fling. I mean we have a long time until we ever talk about having kids of our own-"
"Danny, we need to stop this."
"What the hell Jessica. Stop what?"
"I don't want kids..." Jessica tears up then rubs her face.
"... I can't have kids... I'm too scared to ever have kids. It's good that we know this now." Jessica breaks into tears and sobs.
As shocked as Danny was, his first instinct was to comfort Jessica. "Hey, listen. Kids is a long way away. If you don't want to have kids that's fine. I don't need kids. I need you."
"No Danny. I'm not going to take away you being a father one day. I can't do that."
"Stop it! We've gotten so far in this crazy journey of ours. I'm not going to end it now because we don't agree on kids. That's the future. But you have nothing to be scared of, love."
"I do, Danny. My body isn't made for having kids. Look at what happened-" Jessica couldn't find herself to finish her sentence as she referred back to her miscarriage is high school.
"I didn't have to go through what you did, but I can't imagine... let's not worry about kids. Let's just be happy, okay?"
Jessica nods and wipes away her tears. "Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
