You two meet someone still doing their job
Many people go into auto pilot during stressful/traumatizing moments so figured this could work for a scenario.
Coach:
He has this urge to get everyone to safety, which included the random store worker still stacking shelves. You knew this was gonna be in vain as the worker held this distant, not-here-anymore look. They are human but not alive. It was somehow creepier than any zombie seen so far.
The worker didn't seem to fully get the situation, or maybe they did but didn't care anymore, and kept dismissing Coach's attempts to convince them to come with. Coach was ready to rough handle this by just dragging the person with, but you put a hand on his shoulder and shook your head. No words were needed, your eyes said plenty to tell him it won't work.
So, with great regret and defeat, Coach walked away. But the worker called after you two! With hope Coach turned, but then sighed as the worker held out a box. It was filled with food and drinks! The worker wished you two luck then went to the back of the store.
Rochelle:
Rochelle was so shocked to see another survivor! So she ran to the woman on the floor, scribbling away in a notebook.
"Hey! Come join us, we are all making our way to-"
"I can't! I have to write this all down, this can win me gold."
"... cuse me?" Rochelle's face never contorted so much; eyebrows furrowed and one raised, just like the side of her upper lip.
"I'm a reporter, this can get me great footage, stories, and a biography afterwards of how I survived a zombie apocalypse."
"Lady, won't be no book if you don't start leaving."
"I made it this far alone so thank you. Oh! You can help me differently!" The woman jumped up, causing Rochelle to take a step back, grabbing for her melee weapon. "Let me interview you!"
"Huh?!" Rochelle's face contorted again then shook her head, "No way. I'm going, you decide yourself if you wanna join or not."
When you asked what that was she shook her head but still gave the tea.
Ellis:
Ellis came to a stop as you all had been following the clues to the next safe room. Why did he stop? He saw a person fidgeting with a door. Curiousity always gets the better of Ellis, so he approached.
"Whatcha doing?" he asked slow and awkwardly, as this man gave off this weird feeling.
"Owner asked me to fix some stuff around her house."
Ellis watched the handyman fixing the door as if further away there ain't zombies roaming. You came, giving a 'what's going on' nod so Ellis nod to the man, mumbling this dude's a handyman. Unsure what else to do you asked if they don't wanna come along, but the handyman shook his head.
"Just wanna get this done."
Ellis got a weird sense so he put his gun away, took a tool out the toolbox, then said with a smile; "Lemme help you."
Nick:
"This guy more of a zombie than the zombies," was all Nick said as you both stood there, guns held tight in case this goes wrong, watching the man in his fast food uniform watching uncooked meat, meant to put onto the two buns he had put ready. The man stood there, waiting for the meat to cook. You wonder if he even knows the stove isn't turned on...
Nick told you to just walk by, that that guy is long gone. You both walked away, glancing back to see the man flip the uncooked meat.
