Chapter 14: Tears
--<-><-><-><->--
In the living room, Gray sat with his son. The rain had died down, now only grounds wet because of the downfall. It was now at least an hour later after what had happened earlier, and needless to say, Gray still felt guilty. And although he still felt this way, he decided to hide his sadness from Storm in order to not make the young Fullbuster sad.
The poor boy was almost in tears at seeing his parents fight, and that in itself made Gray worry. He saw it in Storm's eyes that the little boy wanted to do something to make his parents happy again, but since it was up to Juvia and Gray to handle this situation, Gray decided to show Storm it was alright, without the use of words.
They were playing the game he and Juvia had played previously before Gray showed up, and it obviously made Storm happy again.
"No! Don't set it on fire, evil guy!!" Storm yelled as he held his superman action figure. Somehow, the villain got fire powers and now was setting things on fire - a house, bush, tree, really anything.
For some odd reason, this scene reminded him of a thing Natsu would do. Setting things on fire, especially random things? A HUGE Natsu reminder.
"Pew! Pew! Pew!" Storm yelled, moving an arm of Superman's to point - acting as if a gun - towards the villian Gray was holding. Again, somehow Superman gained arm lasers, so now he was Buzzlightyear? Whatever the cute little boy was doing, sure was an adorable thing.
Gray smiled, making grunting noises because, well, the villain was being shot and Gray just had to act it out in order to get a A+ from his son. "Okay, I promise not to set the buildings or anything else on fire again!"
Storm stopped his 'pew'ing sounds as he smiled, putting back down Superman's arm and opening his mouth to say something in character, but there was a clearing of the throat.
The two Fullbuster boys turned to see Juvia, a coat in arms as she stood behind the couch, eyes obviously red and puffy from crying. If Gray's heart hadn't been strucked before, it was basically getting pierced again reopening the wounds on his heart. It pained him to see Juvia after crying because of him. And he knew it was because of him, and knew those tears would be hard to get back.
Even after them fighting and Juvia being in her room, the rain still continued to poor which meant Juvia was still crying. It took an hour and a half for the rain to stop completely, which was basically the time Juvia had been crying before stopping.
She even had the quivering lip still. "Storm, um, come get your jacket on." she says, turning and heading for the kitchen table where she set the shoes she had in her other hand which had gone unseen.
Storm set down Superman as he stood, smiling innocently at his Dad before obeying his Mom. "Where are we going, Mommy?"
"The guild." she turns and motions Storm to lift his arm, which he obliges. She slips his arm through the arm hole, and then the other. Then reaching under his arms, she hoists him up to sit on the table while putting on his shoes. "We are going to get a little snack."
"Is Daddy coming, too?" instead of answering the question, it goes ignored. Juvia just walks past her son to a closet to get her jacket and put it on herself.
Gray nodded his head to Storm silently, the boy looking to him for an answer instead. Storm smiled widely while hopping off the table, turning to Juvia. Gray stands, and starts walking the the direction of the same closet Juvia was at. Luckily, the two didn't have to deal with confrontation since Juvia was long gone from that closet. Instead, she had Storm in her arms as was opening the door.
Gray grabs his jacket quickly, but before he could put it on….the door was already shut.
-
After walking 10 feet behind Juvia and Storm, Gray arrived at the building.
When Storm was walking with Juvia to the guild, he just had to frown. After getting a good distance from his house and not seeing his Dad leave as well, he had figured he was simply not coming. When he saw his Dad walk through the door though, his face lit up again as he said a quiet "Daddy.."
As for Juvia, she thought the closing of the door was a clear enough answer that she did not want Gray coming with them. But of course, he just had to follow. Upon hearing the name 'Daddy' Juvia stiffened and started walking to the bar. Along the way, she passed Lucy, Natsu, and Erza.
"Hey, Juvia long time no-" Erza tries to say kindly, seeing the redness of the girls eyes, but Juvia walks past without even acknowledging the group. Erza looks to Gray for an answer, and the man shakes his head as a response. Erza had, of course, asked silently if it all went well. Gray was just telling the truth.
Seeing Juvia making her way to the bar, Mira is quick to notice and excuses herself from the customer she had been talking to. "Juvia! Storm!"
"Auntie Mira!!!" Storm says excitingly upon seeing his favorite hugger.
"Can I get some crackers and a juice box, please?" Juvia asks, smiling.
Mira gently nods, looking past Juvia to indeed say Gray. The barmaid didn't even have to ask if all went well, judging by the red in Juvia's eyes and her upbeat personality long since gone, Juvia definetley wasn't in a good mood.
She gets the perfered order for her friend, and hands it to the girl. Juvia says a quick 'thanks' before making her way to a table.
"She didn't forgive you?" Lucy asks when Gray arrives by the group.
Gray shakes his head. This is the only answer they needed. Asking any more questions would surely end up in tears.
