Chapter 22

Sup guys! Here's the next chappie. I know last one seemed a bit weird or out of place, but it's building up to something so be patient :P Anyway, I have some news, look at my rant book for details (Spoilers), but I think you'll be happy :) Dedicating this chappie to thearcticmukeys because she is awesome enough to dedicate the last chappie of her book to me.
Song for this chappie is 'Warriors' by Imagine Dragons... Idk, just listened to it when I got to the intense bit. Anyway, enjoy my lovely tossers! Comment, vote, whatever. Laika out

-Seto's POV-

Time seemed to grind to a halt as events unfurled.

The creep from earlier was locked in a stalemate between him and Brice, a gun, that had an all too familiar glint to it, was all that stood between them.

Brice's eyes were on fire, more so than I had ever seen before; more than when he stood up for me, more than our first date, more than when we made love.

I just stood there, paralysed like I was watching from a distance.

"I'm here to take what's mine." the creep hissed, eyes momentarily flicking from Brice to me. I gulped, but didn't move. Brice narrowed his eyes at the creep.

"He doesn't belong to anyone! He's his own person, not some object. You don't own him!" he snarled, although I could hear the fear behind it.

The creep chortled and a shiver went down my spine.

"You seem to forget what position you're in. Patrick had an idea that you would be... tricky."

-Brice's POV-

Seto's eyes bulged immediately. I was torn between confusion, anger and fear. I took a deep breathe.

"You got that gun from Chase Matthews and you know it. I don't know who this Patrick is, but-"

I was cut off by a gasping sound next to me. I turned to see Seto slumped on his knees, shaking like a leaf, breathing coming in rapid and harsh.

I knew he was having another panic attack - and I couldn't do a damn thing about it.

The creep cackled again. "That slime ball Chase may have owed me this," he gestured to the gun, "But I came here to do a job. Didn't you tell him about your dear old dad Seto? He came to me, told me you'd disappeared in the night and that he wanted a favour." he crooned, and I almost expected a dramatic monologue from him, like evil villains always do in the movies.

But this was real life, not some movie.

So Patrick was Seto's foster dad, and this guy must work for him. I thought about all the people who must be connected by my Seto: Chase, The Creep, his dad, Mitch and Jerome, Sky and Ty. Me.

Seto's breathing had mellowed out by now, and out of the corner of my eye I could see him stand. I took another deep breath.

"Yes, he left, with my help. He managed to escape that hell-hole. Look, whatever Patrick's paying you we'll match it, hell double it! You just have to walk away and forget about this." I mumbled, eyes staring at the gun aimed at my head.

Creep smirked. "Oh, I don't think you'll be able to give me what he was offering."

I thought for a second, staring intently at the gun and creeps face, smirking behind it. He had sharp features, light brown hair and cold gunmetal eyes that pierced your soul with ice at a seconds glance.

He stood up straight for a second, an evil grin on his face. He looked straight at Seto. "Him."

-Seto's POV-

I felt numb.

He had sent him.

After all this time, I hadn't even thought about my foster dad. I had completely forgotten he had existed, and after seeing my real dad - I had forgotten to care.

After all this happiness, all this time and love, I couldn't just go back. Back to the abuse, back to the pain and misery.

Are you just going to let him win?

A small voice whispered in the back of my head. I blinked in surprise, as a small wave of determination and reassurance washed over me.

I glared at the creep, felling my aura surrounding us in an intense violet fire, silver embers writhing within, stronger than they had ever been.

I felt a force inside me, willing me forward, a sliver of blue at the corner of my mind, glowing in the darkness enthralling me.

I took a step forward, glaring with intensity and hatred at the creep. I growled as he cocked the gun, pointed once again at Brice as he stood there, wide eyed and fearful, vulnerable for once.

That, I've never seen before.

My eyes flickered as I saw tears in his eyes, and a barely audible whimper from his throat. I growled again, fire bursting in my hands ferociously.

Never hurt those I love.

I felt myself rising from the ground, leaves swirling around, as the look on the creeps face turned from smugness to horror, his jaw hanging loosely, almost swinging in the wind I was creating.

In a flash, I moved my left hand sideways, and an invisible force flung him back, holding him down after he landed about twenty feet away across the courtyard.

With my other hand, I made Brice lift off the ground and float to my side to safety. The strain, of holding the creep down and Brice up, meant that I couldn't sign to him, and I scrunched up my face with pain, frustration and effort.

Seeing this, Brice held onto my waist so I wouldn't have to hold him. I smiled at him gratefully, and I let go of the force in my right hand, focusing it all on keeping the creep at bay.

"You're doing so well baby, I believe in you. You can do it Seto." Brice whispered in my ear, as I concentrated on maintaining the force field keeping the creep away.

'I don't think I can hold it much longer' I mouthed to Brice, still not able to use my hands.

Almost on cue, my flames flickered and subside slightly and I felt my energy plummet, allowing the creep to struggle to his feet.

Brice and I were simultaneously lowered to the ground, Brice having to hold me up from the exhaustion I felt. Everything ached.

Man, magic really drains me.

With my force finally stopped, my legs gave out, collapsing on the floor, Brice swooping down with me.

As he held meto his chest, the creep stepped towards us, smirking, although he was still ruffled up from the conflict.

He raised the gun to Brice's head once more, and I felt one last small spark still waiting inside me, ready for my flick.

"Any last words?" the creep sneered, finger twitching on the trigger, causing the spark in me to raise weakly to my hand.

Brice looked at him with disgust, but knowing inevitability in his big blue eyes. He spat on the creep, holding me tighter, but shielding my face, probably so I couldn't see what was to come.

"Fuck you!" he snarled, but looked down at me once more with sad, longing eyes. He kissed the top of my head and the creep grimaced, and adjusted his grip on the gun.

"Well goodbye. Say hello to your precious Seto's parents for me in hell." he hisses, about to pull the trigger.

Something inside me snapped.

My parents?

He killed them?

Rage and panic I never knew I had shot through me, compelling me to do the unthinkable.

"NO!!!"

I sent the spark towards the creep, catching him off guard with my voice, the gun wrenched from his hand, clattering to the ground.

In the shocked silence that followed, my mind reeling from the fact that, holy shit I just spoke, I lunged for the gun, hands trembling as I pointed it at the creep. I closed my eyes tight. I squeezed the trigger.

A bang reverberated around the courtyard, then, silence.

Deafening, terrifying, silence.

I cracked open one eye, and saw the creep slumped on the ground in a heap, crimson blossoming from his chest, pooling around his body.

I dropped the gun that was still smoking in my hand, and felt Brice shift, rocking me gently in a tight, protective embrace. Hot tears streamed down my face.

"Shh shh, I'm here, it's over baby, I'm here, it's all over Seto." he whispered in my ear, as sirens were heard in the distance.

"It's all over now Seto, it's ok I'm here. I'll never leave your side." he continued to smooth in my ear, as I quivered in his arms, sounds all around me drowned out by the sound of his heart beating and his voice, reassuring me over and over that he was here and that I was safe.

The next couple of hours flew by in a blur.

The police and an ambulance came, and hauled away the creeps body, asking Brice questions as I sat between his legs, his arms draped around my shoulders protectively, almost in a catatonic state, gripping onto his shirt with all my might, as weak as I was at the time.

I let them take swabs, fingerprints, hair samples from me, all the while never leaving Brice's grip, refusing to let the medics near me.

Once they had thanked us they left, shooting me pitying looks they went, causing Brice to growl under his breath.

They were apparently looking for Patrick for a string of other offences, and from what Brice had informed them, he was going to get life imprisonment.

Brice led me to a cab, that the police had kindly called for us, sitting me on his lap as we rode home in silence, until he whispered to me suddenly, making me jump slightly.

"Seto... you spoke." I stared at him, those three simple words slowly being processed in my brain.

After a few more minutes of silence, I gave a slight nod, trying to comprehend how I managed to speak, even without thinking.

I gave Brice a tortured look, almost pleading for an answer I knew he couldn't know.

He hugged em tighter, and I nuzzled into his chest, breathing in his familiar warm scent, peppermint and pine needles, relaxing slightly for the first time since this morning.

Brice spoke up again. "... Do you... do you think, it was was a heat of the moment thing or, do you think you could..." he trailed off and I shook my head sadly.

I had thought about it after it happened, and had finally come to the conclusion that it was a one time thing, the anger and torment pushing me over the edge.

Brice sighed and shifted his position slightly. "Shame, you have a really sexy voice." he muttered, cracking a smile.

I rolled my eyes and giggled weakly, causing a wide grin to stretch across Brice's face, eyes sparkling.

I leaned up to kiss him, and he met me half way, capturing my lips in his, moving and dancing with mine, passion and relief pouring through it.

I kissed back with the same amount of emotion, desperate for him to know how much I loved him.

We pulled back, a single thread of saliva connecting our lips as we stared into each other's eyes, foreheads resting together.

Brice lifted his hand to wipe my mouth, caressing my cheek, lowering it to hold the back of my neck, running his thumb up and down. He closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh.

"It's finally over..." he whispered, a single tear rolling down his cheek, sagging down in his seat slightly, a weak but joyous smile on his pale, tired face.

I nodded and sighed, as we rode out the rest of the journey in silence, just comfortable, a weight I never knew was there finally lifted as we drove away from the nightmare, towards our future, happy together.

When we got home, Brice lifted me off his lap and carried me to the flat, kissing my forehead every now and then, making soft giggles escape my throat.

When we reached the front door of the flat, I unlocked it for us so Brice could still hold me, because I needed to stay in his strong arms, at least for a little while longer.

We entered, and Brice promptly tossed me unceremoniously on the couch, taking off his shoes and laughing as I poured mockingly accusing.

I took off my own shoes and threw them in the shoe box, hopping back onto the couch and laying down.

I closed my eyes in contentment. I felt the couch dip next to me and I opened my eyes to see a smiling Brice sitting next to me.

However, there was a hint of worry in his eyes and I frowned, sitting up and moving closer to him.

I leant over and kissed his jaw lightly, holding his hand in mine. He looked down at me and bit his lip, pulling his hands from mine and stuffing them in his pockets.

Tears welled up in my eyes, hurt at his rejection. I sniffled and sat back, scooting slightly away from him, my lip trembling as I fought back the urge to cry.

He looked back up,at me, eyes suddenly filled with sorrow.

He was going to break up with me, I knew it. Now we were out of danger, he was going to break up with me.

He shuffled closer to me and held my quivering hands. I closed my eyes, ready for the words that would break me in two.

"It's ok baby, I'm not breaking up with you." he reassured me, probably reading my facial expression. I visibly relaxed, then looked at him, wondering what then was bothering him.

He pulled something out of his pocket. He held it in his fist in front of me, then let out a shaky breath.

"Seto..." he breathed, and he uncurled his hand, and showed me

A ring.
