-Brice's POV-
Seto froze beneath me, breathing shallow and his heart rate getting faster and faster.
"Seto?..." I whispered in his ear, worried he was having another nightmare.
He jumped and clung onto my arm, digging his nails into my skin deep. I winced and shook him.
He just lay there, staring straight ahead. I followed his gaze and gasped.
There was a guy on the balcony trying to get in. I wrenched myself out of Seto's iron grip and stood up.
Covering up the petrified Seto protectively with the duvet, I advanced towards the window, still only in my boxers.
The figure stood their ground as I got nearer, my fists ready to beat the intruder to a pulp. I was terrified and furious at the same time.
I grabbed the handle and threw open the French windows, ready to go ape shit on this creep.
There was no one there.
Utterly confused, I scanned around the balcony to look for an escape route.
How could he have climbed 15 floors and just vanished?
I was about to turn back when out of the corner of my eyes I spotted a small, slightly yellowed piece of paper, neatly folded and tucked under a plant pot.
I hesitantly picked it up and wondered back inside, frowning at it.
It was old paper, probably ripped from a journal or something. It had spidery writing in green ink on it, in a strange language I couldn't for the life of me figure out.
I sat on the bed next to a shaking Seto, who burrowed further down in fear with a panicked squeak when I placed my hand on his head.
"Seto, baby, they've gone. It's ok they won't come back, I promise." I whispered, stroking the tufts of hair sticking out from under the covers.
He peeked his head out slowly and glanced at the window. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw the figure gone, but was still shaking in shock.
I pulled the duvet off him and hauled him into a sitting position. I wrapped one arm around his waist and held him to my side. When he had stopped shaking, I handed him the note carefully.
"Whoever it was left this. I thinks it's a note, but I have no idea what it's written in. Maybe you know what it says?" I asked him.
He took it gingerly and nodded, taking up a pen and reading the letter, jotting down underneath the translation.
Once he had, his eyes widened and he zoned out, half passing the note, blinking rapidly.
I took it, reading the translation. I snarled at what was written.
It read:
Come to the park tomorrow at midnight. Tell no one. And bring the blonde one. I'd like to meet him.
I held Seto tighter and set the note aside. Seto flashed his eyes and flicked a purple fireball at it, shattering it into nothing but ashes. I looked at him and he seemed deep in thought.
He pulled out his whiteboard from the nightstand and wrote something down quickly. I bit my lip as I took it from him.
He rarely used his board anymore, only when he was too sad or angry or scared to sign. Judging by his expression it was a mix of all three that made him practically catatonic.
I read the message. 'That was runic, the language of sorcerers. If they wrote this then I'm dead. No one survives a summoning like this. I'm so sorry Brice that I got you into this.'
I placed the board down and turned to Seto, who had his head down and his arms hugged around himself.
I wrapped one arm around him and laid us both down on the bed, stroking his hair still with the other.
"You didn't do anything wrong Seto. It's not your fault if some crazy bastard want us to meet him at the park. Nothing will happen to either of us. We will go, and I'll keep us safe."
He shook his head and sighed, sitting up. I watched him confused as he turned to me, a determined look in his eyes.
'No Brice, not this time. I'm sick of cowering in fear. Tomorrow you won't stand a chance against a magic wielder. I'll be the one to protect us this time. I love you so much, if something were to happen to you I would die inside. I have to do this Brice.' he signed, fists clenched at his sides once he finished.
I looked up at him, pride swelling in my chest. My Seto finally looked confident, even protective of me.
Since I first met him he had always seemed so small and shattered, something I needed to take care of.
I forgot he had this side to him - and in all honesty it kinda turned me on...
I placed my hand on his inner thigh and ran my hand up and down it, earning a hitched moan from Seto.
He looked me in the eye and I saw the silver in his irises swirling like galaxies, as well as sparkling lust and that damn sexy determination again.
"God I love it when you get all feisty babe." I mumbled, eyes locked with his.
He smirked and leaned down, kissing me, gently at first but then more rough. He swung his leg over so he was straddling my hips, hands on my chest pinning me down with surprising strength.
I bucked my hips, desperate for some friction. He pushed down on me, grinding me. I moaned as his hand trailed down to my boxers, tugging at the elastic lightly.
He slipped his hand in, his fingers starting to work magic. I won't go into detail about what happened next but I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't walk in the morning...
After, we lay tangled in each other's arms, panting and sweating.
"You, sneaky, bastard." I panted, smirking at him. He batted his eyelids, feigning innocence, and leaned in and pecked my lips, smiling.
I sighed happily and put my hands behind my head. I looked back down at him.
"I love you Seto." I said, sincerely. He smiled and nodded, running his hands through my hair.
I studied his features closely. He was less scrawny than he had been, probably because he was actually eating, and I could see faint muscles creeping up his arms.
"Either the magic has increased your physical being or you've been working out. Damn Seto you're getting hench!" I said, half jokingly.
Seto blushed, giggling, then grinned, pulling up his arm and flexing in a 'muscle man' pose, a funny pout on his face.
I laughed and he smiled. It had certainly got bigger, if only a little, and on the whole Seto seemed stronger in general, mentally, physically and emotionally.
I found myself staring and blushed, looking away. Seto tapped me and I glanced back at him, still trying to suppress my blush.
'Why were you staring?' he signed, a slightly confused look on his face, which made him switch from sexy right back to adorable. I smiled.
"You. You're just so confident and healthy now. It's hard to imagine the little twig I first met two and a half months ago." I said staring at him again.
He grinned and rested his head on my shoulder, still gazing intently in my eyes.
His hair tickled my ear as he got comfortable, and we went back to sleep, sweet and blissful as the moon shine through the window over us.
*
We went to school as usual the next day, passing notes through the boring bits and laughing and joking through the good ones.
Ty was back at school, and he and Seto would have long animated conversations completely in sign language as Adam, Mitch, Jerome and I would talk, me occasionally interjecting in Seto and Ty's conversation, much to the annoyance of Seto and the amusement of me and the others.
At the end of the day, Seto got a bit quiet. Probably thinking about tonight I thought.
We hadn't talked to the about the note with the guys. We didn't want them to get involved, especially if there was magic involved - even though Jerome was a hybrid, he couldn't take on a sorcerer.
Adam and Ty knew about Jerome and Seto by now, and it didn't bother them at all, although Adam would keep pestering Seto to make butter rain in the classroom like the hyper man child he is.
We said goodbye to the guys and walked to the car, having a slight argument over what was better, brownies or cookies.
"It's got to be brownies, I mean, they're cakey but all nice and gooey as well. Cookies are just biscuits!" I said. Seto shook his head.
'Nope. Still cookies. They're awesome, AND they can be gooey inside! Just look at Domino's cookies! Cookies beat brownies bitch!' he retorted with a sassy head flick, making me snort with laughter as he grinned.
"Ok, you got me there, cookies from Domino's are the shit." I said, wiping tears of laughter from my eyes. (I had this argument with my sister earlier XD)
Seto fist pumped the air with triumph as we neared the car. We both froze when we saw it.
A note was attached to the windshield, written in the same spidery green writing, in the same runic as the last one.
My fingers trembled as I unfolded it and passed it to Seto. He got out a pen and translated it with a nervous look on his face. I read it and grimaced.
'Do not forget about tonight. Be there or your friends may face the consequence.'
I was beyond frustrated now. Tearing up the letter, I threw open the car door and clambered in, sitting rigid at the wheel.
Seto hurriedly got in the passenger side, giving me a concerned look. I let out a strangled cry, and hit my fist against the dashboard.
"GOD DAMMIT! Why?! Why does this shit always happen to us?!" I screamed, making Seto wince and shrink back.
I snapped my trap shut. I knew he hated violent shouting like this, so I forced myself to be quiet.
I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes. "Why..." I whispered, a single tear rolling down my cheek.
I felt a hand rest on my thigh and I turned to see Seto looking t me with, big, sad, loving eyes. My heart melted as he opened his arms for a hug, sniffling slightly.
"Aww, come here. I'm sorry I shouted." I said, leaning into his embrace. "It's just, you've been through so much, and I'm sick of stuff happening to you." I mumbled into his ear as I nuzzled his neck, squeezing him tight as we both cried onto each other.
Eventually I pulled away. I wiped the remains of his tears from his face and smiled softly at him.
He hiccuped and grinned, making me chuckle at his cuteness. We drove home with his hand in mine, tracing circles on each other's palms.
We got home a little later than usual, thanks to the wonderful array of road works littering the journey.
When we got back, we quickly ate dinner in silence, then got ready for tonight.
We both dressed in loose, dark clothes, so that it would be easier to wriggle free if anything happened.
Seto practised a few moves with his powers and I slipped my brass knuckles in my jacket pocket, just in case.
Around half eleven we finally left. We decided to walk there, since it wasn't that far, and we didn't want to waste petrol.
We walked with our arms around each other. I had my left arm over Seto's shoulders, with my free hand in my pocket, fingering the brass knuckles.
Seto had his right arm wrapped around my waist, his other hand also in his pocket, and his head resting in my shoulder.
To anyone looking we look like a cute young couple out for a romantic midnight stroll.
Well, the first part of that was true, but we had nothing but serious business out tonight. As we rounded the corner, the park came into view.
I felt Seto hold me closer and we slowly walked over to the bench in the middle of the park.
-Seto's POV-
I was scared. Theres other way to describe it. Just, scared. We sat down on the bench, our arms now by our sides.
Brice's hands were fists in his pockets and mine were clasped on my lap twiddling with my thumbs.
Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind, and grabbed Brice's arm instinctively.
"Do you hear that?" he whispered. I gulped and nodded. We stood up together and turned in the direction of the footsteps.
There was the black figure, face obscured by shadows. As he got closer I could make out what he was wearing.
Black trousers and black hobnail boots, wearing a long, heavy navy blue trench coat, a hood over his head.
When he was about ten feet away he stopped walking. He put his hand in his pocket, and Brice growled, putting an arm in front of my protectively.
The stranger stopped and raised both hands defensively.
"I wish to speak with Seto Sorcerer." he said in a deep, hoarse voice, that sounded strangely familiar.
Brice growled again and took a step forward in front of me.
"Not without me here." he said through gritted teeth. The figure chuckled.
"So this is your lover I take it Seto?" he said, almost mockingly. This made me angry.
His tone was smug and lightly mocking, yet I couldn't help the feeling I've heard it before.
I narrowed my eyes and my aura surrounded me, purple fire in my hands. Brice moved to my side.
"Before we say anything, step into the light so we can see your face." Brice demanded, hand back in his pocket ready to pull out the brass knuckles no doubt.
The stranger slowly stepped forward, as Brice and I drew back, careful to keep our distance. He stood in the moonlight and raised his head.
I instantly knew who it was and gasped, dropping my aura immediately, hand flying to my mouth.
My eyes widened and I backed up. There was no mistaking those eyes, and I knew I had heard that voice before.
"Who is it Seto?" Brice mumbled I my ear. I blinked several times before shakily signing back.
'My father.'
