The room suddenly erupted in silence and fear. I looked over to my left to see Lisanna wide-eyed, and Lucy to my left, who was practically shaking. "What do you mean a beast that eats souls?"
Aditi frowned, not looking at either of us in the eye. "It all started a few months ago. Women of all ages began to just collapse. At first, we just thought it was from over working, which is what happens quite a lot. But when the physician examined them, they were just...dead..or soulless to be exact."
"Oh my God..." Lucy whispered, squeezing the nearest pillow. The way Lucy was scared made me pity her. I wrapped my arm around her and whispered, "Don't be scared. It's alright."
"What does this creature look like?" Lisanna asked.
"No one knows. It's invisible to the regular eye. Only a Celestial Wizard and a Dragon Slayer can see it."
This made Lucy tense up a bit. She suddenly stood up and announced, "I'm gonna have some fresh air," and stormed out of the house. The room was now awkward and silent. "Poor child. It must be hard learning all this in one day." Aditi sighed. "Can one you be a dear and check up on her."
"I will." I said immediately. I glanced at Lisanna to see eyes filled with something negative. I looked away and sighed. I stood up and walked through the wooden door. I looked around to see Lucy out of sight. "Lucy!" I called out, beginning to search for her. "Lucy!" I suddenly see a speck of blond hair by the lake. I smiled and walked towards the lake. When I arrive, I see Lucy crouching down by the shore line, poking something with a stick. I decided to play with her and creep up behind her. "Boo!" I yelled.
Lucy shrieked. She would have fallen into the river if I hadn't caught her by the arm. But I guess I misunderstood my strength, because I pulled her a little too hard to the point where she fell on top of me. I chuckled. "Whoops."
Lucy laughed awkwardly, her face a little red. "Um, yeah. You didn't have to scare me!"
"Well, you were really tensed up, so I thought this might help you." I smiled. Her eyes widened, but then turned into a grateful smile. She rolled off of me and laid down next to me. I rested my head on the soft green grass and sighed. "Are you alright? You seemed kind of tensed up at the house."
Lucy was silent. "This is all just...too much to handel right now."
"But you're finally the strong wizard you've always wanted to be!" I told her.
"I know, but...I never expected it to be this quick." Lucy said silently. I looked at Lucy to see tears flowing down her face. She looked at me and whispered, "I don't think I'm ready for this." She covered her eyes with her hands and continued to cry. Poor Luce, I thought sadly in my head, she's not use to so much responsibilty. I rolled closer to her and removed her hands from her face. "Your Lucy Heartfilia. You're ready for anything!" I exclaimed.
Lucy stared at me for a second, and then smiled. "Thanks, Natsu." She wiped away her tears and stood up tall. "Ah! I feel like a new person!" She reached her hand down towards me. "Need a lift?"
I smiled. "That's the Lucy I know."
When we reached back to Aditi's cottage, Lisanna was no where to be seen. Happy was sitting on the couch, eating raw salmon. "Natsu! What took you so long!"
"It's not my fault this girl likes to cry!" I laughed.
"Hey! I don't laugh that much!" Lucy protested. Aditi came in the room with another plate of cookies. When she saw Lucy, her face relaxed with relief. "Heavens, thank God you're her. I was so worried about you!"
"I'm sorry that I worried you." Lucy apologized. Aditi forgave her, and they laughed out all the tension. As they laughed, I began to notice some similarites between Lucy and Aditi. They both had chocolate brown eyes, blonde hair, and a joyful smile. The only difference would have to be height, since Lucy is 5'9, while Aditi looked like four foot elf. "What happened to Lisanna?" I asked, getting curious on what happened to Lisanna.
"She's unpacking her supplies in the guest room, where the four of you will be sleeping." Aditi informed us. She informed me where the guest room was , and I headed there. I open the door too see Lisanna laying on the bed, reading a magazine. When she sees me, she just continues reading. "Hey." I greeted.
Silence.
"Hello? Earth to Lisanna?" I called out, waving my hand over her face. She just gave me another angry look and rolled over to her side. "Are you mad at me?"
"....Yes.."She finally said.
I groaned. "What exactly did I do to make you mad?"
She sat up and looked at me straight in the eye. I didn't know if this was either a staring contest, or some kind of interrogation, but I didn't stop blinking. She finally blinked, relaxing her shoulders. "Natsu...do you like Lucy?"
"Well of course I like Lucy. She's one of my greatest friends." I reminded her.
"Not in that kind of way....I mean romantically." She whispered, her face getting all red. I could suddenly feel my face going red too. Did I like Lucy that way? I've always thought of her as just a friend, but now that Lisanna mentioned this, I just don't know. "Umm...I don't think so."
Lisanna exhales. "Okay...Good." She suddenly smiles. Suddenly, Lucy comes in with Happy on her head and bags in her arms. She looks up and notices us on the bed. "Oh..were you guys talking?" Lucy asked.
"We just finished, actually." Lisanna smiled. She looked at me and winked at me. I winked at her back, and paid my attention back to Lucy. "What's up?"
"Lucy's gonna unleash her true Celestial Magic today!" Happy announced.
"But what about the beast?" I asked.
"Aditi told me everything she knows about the beast. It only attacks on a new moon." Lucy informed me.
"Which is tomorrow.." Lisanna said.
"Exactly." Lucy nodded. She sat on the edge of the bed and pulled out the two keys she recieved today. Then, she pulled out a silver key from her pouch and chanted, "Gate of the Southern Cross , I Summon Thee: Crux!"
A sudden bright golden light appeared, blinding us. When my eyes adjust to the light, I see a giant silver cross a facial expression floating in front of Lucy. "Hi, Crux!" Lucy greeted with a friendly smile.
"Ah, Lucy-Sama! You haven't summoned me in quite a while!" Crux said with a friendly smile.
"I have a few questions to ask you."
"Ask away."
"Who was the last Celestial Wizard to obtain all twelve Zodiac Keys?" She asked. Crux was silent, his eyes shut. Everything was silent, until we heard snoring. "Um, Lucy..i thinkk your spirit just went to sleep." Lisanna said awkwardly.
"He's thinking, not sleeping." Lucy corrected.
"AAAH!" Crux suddenly yelled. Lisanna and I jumped back with fear. Lucy, who was unaffected, stared at Cruz intently. "Well? Did you figure it out?"
"I did, Lucy-Sama. It was your great-great-great-great grandmother, Saint Lucilia Ambrose Marià Fiamata Heartfilia I." Crux informed her.
So the last person was a relative of Lucy. I see Lucy's eyes wide with shock. "Why saint?" Lucy asked.
"Lucilia was canonized by the Spirit King himself after saving the Spirit World. She died at the age of nineteen." Crux educated.
"Whoa....." I whispered. This was all becoming so real. Lucy nodded. "Do you have any more information about her?"
"Because of her enormous power, she was killed by her husband Vincent DePaul, a month after giving birth. Filled with guilt, the husband named the girl Amelia Heartfilia."
Whoa, murder? People back then could really get jealous because of magic."Thank you, Crux. That's all for now."
"It was a great pleasure, Lucy-Sama." And with that, he turned into golden dust and disappeared. The room was filled with awkward silence, until Aditi walked in. "Kids, what's wrong?"
"We just....learned something..."Lucy whispered.
"Well, whatever you learned, it's going to wait. It's time."
"Time for what?" Lisanna asked. But then, Lucy stood up, looking at me in the eye. "It's time for me to unlock my full length powers."
