“It seems that I’m going back.” I tiredly murmured as I shut down my laptop. I opened the window beside me and lazily gazed at the stars. I’m going to leave this place. For good? Well, I’m not that sure about that. I slowly close my eyes to reminisce my moments here in the Philippines.
“Sorry, Arisa, I never loved you in the first place.”
“Beck, do you even love me truthfully?”
“I’m sorry, Arisa. I see you as an acquaintance, more or less.”
“Beck!” I shouted. Damn it, I dozed off again. Why am I dreaming that again?Shaking my head, I shut the windows and climbed to bed.
It seems that he’s on my mind recently. What’s happening to me? I closed my eyes then slowly drifted to sleep.
WEEK LATER…
CAFÉ LATTE 3:00 PM
“Finally, we’re all set!” Lisa shouted with glee as we all nodded in agreement while ignoring the stares from the other customers of the café. “Lisa, lower down you voice, you’re noisy.” Ella stated as she glanced at the said girl.
“It’s kind of sad that Pearl and Hazel are still in Miami today.” Iris stated as she sipped some of her espresso.
“I know right, they’re the youngest in our group but already have jobs.” Marianne grumbled as she ate some of her cheese cake.
“Look who’s talking, the one who wants to travel even though she has a job.” Kim sneered at her as Marianne rolled her eyes.
Oh, I forgot to introduce the gang. Marianne is, as you all know, a doctor and the oldest of our group. Iris is the second oldest and somewhat follows the “Actions speak louder than words,” quote. Iris is in Italy since she is a chef and currently enjoying the food there.
Ella is an adventurous woman, even at the age of 24. She’s also a photographer. Alice and Lisa, they are the craziest twins in our gang and they mostly fight over chocolate and money. Both of them are painters and Kimberly, she likes to joke a lot and gives a friendly aura and like Ella, she’s also a photographer.
Pearl and Hazel are the youngest and, usually, you can’t see one without the other. They’re not here with us since they are two youngest disk jockeys in the whole world and every owner of a night club wants them. Lastly, me, I am the so-called ‘leader’ of the gang. I don’t know why I’m one, though.
“Hey, Arisa, you’ve been spacing out.” Alice waved her hand in front of me.
“You were thinking of him again, aren’t ya?” Kim teased as the others cooed with her.
I rolled my eyes at them. “So have you packed already?” I changed the topic at them as I grabbed my Iced Cappuccino on the table.
“Wait, are you talking about the Tokyo trip?” Lisa asked as she looked at me with a puzzled expression. “That was today? How come I didn’t I saw Alice preparing her things?” She asked as she stared at her twin, eating three slices of red velvet cake. “Well, for your information, Lisa I already packed as soon I logged out from the chat room.” Alice reasoned as she received a glare from the former. I sighed as they keep on glaring daggers at each other.
“We already packed.” Iris and Ella chirped in unison. “It’s kind of sad that Hazel and Pearl aren’t coming with us.” Marianne sighed.
“Yeah, I should’ve convinced them to come afterwards but they have more invitations.” Alice grumbled.
“Well, what about you, Ms. Future Adult?” Kim teased at me.
Oh yeah, in this gang of ours, 23 is somewhat considered as an adult, not 18. I don’t even know why.
“Arisa, hey, snap out of it.” Marianne called me as I snapped back from my thoughts.
“What?” I asked with surprise and slight irritancy.
“Aren’t we going to your apartment?” Ella asked as she leaned back on her chair.
I nodded then stood up. “Let’s go then, I have to bring my stuff from the apartment.” I announced as I placed my empty Iced Cappuccino on the table. “See you Marianne!” We all chorused as she waved back and crossed the other side of the road. The others followed me and we all rode on a cab, going to my apartment.
3:50 PM
“Arisa, our ride is here!” Kim shouted outside the house. “Wait, I have to get my other luggage.” I replied outside the window. I went downstairs then saw them, no luggage beside them, whatsoever. “So where are your bags?” I asked, puzzled.
“We should’ve asked you that.” I heard a familiar masculine voice spoke. Turning around, I saw a man opening his arms for a hug. “Hey Arisa, you’re still short as ever!” Blake greeted me.
“Shut it Blake, I grew an inch or two since the last time we met!” I greeted him with high-five then hugged him. Blake La Blanc is Pearl and Hazel’s older brother; he’s an engineer working here, in the Philippines.
“Well then, after your little reunion’s done, let’s get going!” Kim impatiently announced, breaking our little friendly reunion. We all laughed then headed outside. I was surprised shocked seeing a white Chevrolet in my front yard. “You like it? My dad gave it to me when I was 18.” Blake told me as I threw an impressive smirk at him. “Wow, she’s beautiful.” I complimented as I opened the back. “I’ll just put my bags here.” I closed it then went inside.
“Hurry up, Blake!” Kim impatiently whined. “Don’t order me around. I’m older than you.” Blake growled, ending it with a playful smile. As Blake started the engine, I get the feeling that we’re- no- I feel like I’m being watched.
Few minutes later, in the airplane
“Wow, I miss this feeling.” I said as I put on my headphones and sat down.
“You travel a lot, don’t you?” Kim asked. “Not much.” I replied shortly as I faced the window.
“I have always wanted to smile freely, without having to put a mask over my heart.”
Those words accidentally slipped mouth. “Oh, Arisa, is that dedicated to him??” Lisa teased. “Oh shut up.” I replied and without my notice, I dozed off.
…
Tokyo International Airport
“Hey, Arisa time to get up!” I was woken up by Kim’s poke in the cheek and call. “Are we in Tokyo already?” I asked them while rubbing my left eye. “Obviously.” Alice replied with annoyance. Stretching my arms, I stood up and grabbed my hand luggage in the cabin and exited of the plane with the others.
“I’m calling my chauffer to get us from the airport.” I said as I start dialing my chauffer’s number on my phone. I turned around and stared at my watch. “Okay, what time is it?” I asked as they grabbed their belongings. “It’s still 7:35, Japan Standard Time.” Ella replied. “Well let’s get our bags and Mr. Tsukishi will pick us up.” I announced with a cheerful smile.
FEW MINUTES LATER...
“Lady Arisa!” I heard a voice of a man in the waiting shed. I looked at the waiting shed to see a silhouette of a man waving his hands to and fro at me. “Guys, hurry up!” I told them. “We’re right behind you, Arisa.” Kim grumbled yet I ignored her since I miss it here! Since I was schooled in Philippines, for some reasons, I usually return every summer and other special occasions.
When all of us are at the waiting shed, I introduced them to Mr. Tsukishi, “Guys, meet Mr. Tsukishi, my father’s friend and a chauffeur at the mansion.”
“Mansion?” Ella echoed with a puzzling tone. “Yes, Miss.” Mr. Tsukishi spoke with a smile. “The mansion is actually the place we’re going to stay.” I confessed with a smile. “Well, let’s get going. I’m starving.” Kim said while holding her stomach as Alice pats Kim’s shoulder with agreement. Good thing it only took a few minutes from the airport or else Kim and Alice will annoy me to death.
…
“Guys, welcome to the Michiyo Manor.” I announced as the black gate opened with grand. Describing the manor’s lot in one word: huge. Other than the nature-type of aura that can clearly see all around, it has a pool, some security cameras and a mini-gym. The tennis court and horse stable must be new.
“Lady Arisa, we have arrived.” Mr. Tsukishi informed me. I thanked him as we got out of the car and immediately walked to the front door. “Welcome home, Lady Arisa.” A lady in a French maid knee-length uniform and black combat boots opened the door, ending it with a formal, 90-degree bow.
I chuckled as I hugged her. “Maria, remove the honorifics. I’m not a kid anymore.” I smiled as she blushed lightly. “Why, what a charming woman.” Blake separated me from Maria as he flirtatiously kissed my maid in the hand while Kim turned away from the scene as I giggled silently.
Maria Hiroto was, and currently, my personal maid, even before my parents died. She was picked up on the streets by my mother when she was young. “Lady Arisa, I almost forgot, dinner will be served in few minutes and the butlers will take good care of your entire luggage.” Maria said in a smile.
“D-did she say butlers?!?” Lisa asked with a stutter. “Obviously, did you even hear Maria stutter?” Iris answered with a heavy sigh. Lisa gasped then kept squealing while Ella covered her mouth. “She has a big fetish on butlers, right?” Blake asked as Alice replied with a nod.
“Let’s head to the dining table, shall we?” A man with a black raven-tailed coat opened the door to the dining table and saw all the girls’ eyes, except Alice, became heart-shaped while Blake and I were laughing at them. “Guys meet Sebastian, one of my butlers here.” I introduced Sebastian to them, showed everyone the dining table and we ate.
…
“Lady Arisa, there is still dessert.” Sebastian stopped me from standing up from the chair. “Did you just say DESSERT?” Alice asked the butler.
“Yes, Ms. Alice.” He replied with an assuring smile and then announced “Dessert for today is…” Please don’t say chocolate. Please don’t say chocolate!! “…Michiyo’s own chocolate truffles!” Sebastian chimed. I stood from my chair and exchange nods with Ella with agreement. We both pinned Alice to the ground as she finally calmed down.
…
After all the hustle and bustle of eating the chocolate, we headed upstairs. Maria showed them the guestrooms as I joined with them. “Miss Alice and Lisa will be staying there.” Maria pointed a red-colored door. “For Miss Ella and Kim, that is your room.” Maria pointed a blue-colored door. “Lastly for Sir Blake, will be sleeping in there.” Maria pointed the black-colored door. When I went back to check on Lisa’s room, they fell asleep on the beds, same with Ella’s and Blake.
I thanked Maria and headed to my room. A diamond-shaped door knob, huh, nothing changed at all.I opened it and directly saw my black king-sized bed. I slipped into my pajamas then fell asleep.
A week later…
3:00 AM
Dialing 0XXXXXXX
“Hey man, you called?”
“Yeah, so Blake where is the location?”
“Just go left from the airport then go right. You can see some trees and buildings until you can see a stone pathway and a black gate. It may take an hour or more if the traffic is a bit heavy.”
“Thanks bro.”
“No problem.”
“―So here’s the plan"
