He raised his head from the laptop and looked at her who was thinking something deeply and that something was definitely not pleasant. Though she laughed off looking at everyone when the pregnancy assumption ended with her revealing about his tomato juice, that smile or laugh didn't reach her eyes. Both their parents left in the evening and since then she was like this.

He closed the laptop and sat beside her as she smiled faintly at him.

“What happened?”

“Nothing. I'm fine” She told shrugging.

“You won't disappoint them Anika” He told holding her palm and she looked shocked at him. That was exactly what she was thinking since a long time. How did he possibly know that? Can he read minds?

“You can't ever disappoint them because you love them a lot. You practically live for them” He told and she kept her head on his shoulder.

“What if something like that happens?” She asked and he chuckled.

“For something like that to happen, something should happen between us. Did that something happen? No. Then why fear?” He asked and she hit his chest making him laugh all the more.

“Now, don't think about all those. Just forget whatever happened today”

She raised her head to look at him.

“So today when all these happened, you didn't feel anything?” She asked.

“I understood one thing. Both our moms and dads are really worried about your career”

“And you?”

“I'm more worried than them. I'm scared of myself now” He told making her surprised.

“If you fail in your life because of me, I would never be able to forgive myself for that”

“Until I decide to fail, nobody can do that Shivaay. So you won't ever be the reason of my failure” She told with a smile.

“Can't say. If I'm the reason for that decision then?”

“You won't be”

“All these years you never had a distraction in your life. So you topped everywhere. Am I not a distraction for you?” He told and she sighed.

“Now what should I do? I can't stay away from you” She told holding his arm and keeping her head on his shoulder.

“That's the main problem”

“That I can't stay away from you?”

“No”

“Then?”

“I can't stay away from you” He told and she chuckled.

“You won't ever leave me right?” She asked softly.

“Till death do us apart” He told kissing her head.

“Pinky promise?”

“Pinky promise” He told as he intertwined their fingers together.

“I have some more work to do. You sleep” He told and she raised her head from his shoulder.

He opened his laptop and continued with his work. That's when she saw his mobile on the table.

“What's the password Shivaay?”

“Anika” He told, his concentration completely in the laptop.

“Hmm?” She turned to him thinking he called her.

“What did you ask?” He asked suddenly as the question registered properly in his mind.

“Password” She told waving the phone in front of him.

“Oh——Password” He told before touching his thumb on the home button.

“Technology” She told chuckling and he nodded before turning back to the laptop.

She smiled looking at the home screen background. It was her photo that he had taken while she was admiring the rose that morning.

“So he took photo for this” She thought with a smile. That's when a thought occurred in her mind.

“Shivaay, when you break your phones each time, how do you get back your photos and contacts?” She asked and he chuckled.

“Back up is not a joke” He told.

“Oh so everything is backed up? Where?”

“In my drive”

“I should have done that” She told sadly and he chuckled.

She sighed and looked at his mobile.

“I'm going to find out all your secrets” She told with a mischievous smile.

“There's the formula for a nuclear bomb in one of the files. Don't touch that ok” He told and she chuckled.

She was silent for a while as she tapped on the apps.

“Jaan with a heart emoji. Who is that?” She asked confused as she touched on the contact.

He snatched the phone from her making her startled. Her phone rang all of a sudden and he quickly touched the hang button in his phone while the ring in her phone stopped. She looked at him surprised before taking her phone from the table only to see the notification, One missed call from mine ❤️

“You were getting scared as if it was someone else's number” She told and he looked at her with an embarrassed face.

She smiled and continued checking the mobile while he too went back to his work.

“Awww such a cute photo” She told and he leaned in to look at the photo where he and his siblings were standing sticking their tongues out.

“That was taken before Rudy went for his studies” He told and she smiled.

“My room” He told sadly.

“If you miss your room so much, then why do we stay in Delhi? We can all stay there together as a family right?” She asked and he sighed.

“The family where one sibling is in Canada and other two in London?” He asked and she kept the phone away.

“Do you miss them?”

“So much. Staying there just increased the loneliness and that's how I ended up in Delhi” He took smiled faintly “Me and Om were more like friends. He was born six months after I was born and ever since then, we were inseparable. When we both were seven, choti ma gave us Rudy, to love and pamper. I always wanted a sister and some years later, that too got fulfilled. We were a happy family with all of us” His eyes turned distant suddenly “First crack fell when choti ma and chote papa left us in that accident”

She held his hand and he smiled faintly looking at her.

“An year after that, Papa sent me abroad saying his son should only in Cambridge without even asking me what was my wish! Why did I study science in high school? Nobody asked me” He told and she looked at him with wide eyes.

“You—You were a science student?” She asked and he chuckled.

“Surprising right? I was a science student once upon a time”

“Why didn't you tell me till now?”

“Simply! What's the use anyway?” He asked and she looked at him.

“But whenever I talked about medicine, you were clueless”

“You said such clueless words. I left science years back. How would I know all these?”

“You were scared of cockroach!!”

“Allergic” He corrected and she looked at him in wonder.

“And that allergy came since I moved to Delhi. Till then I wasn't allergic” He told and kept hand on her mouth.

“What all are still there in your life that I don't know?” She asked and he chuckled.

“Why did you take science?”

“The same reason you took science” He told shrugging and she looked at him shocked.

“Fhat the wuck” She shouted and he burst out laughing.

“Shivaay seriously?”

“Yes”

“Then why did you take up business?” She asked exasperated.

“Nobody asked me what I want. I didn't tell anyone too. When it was time for higher education, dad told me, Shivaay I got your admission in Cambridge. I packed my bags and left for London without another word. I still don't know why I didn't say a word against him that day” He told and she looked at him weirdly.

“Like... Why?” She asked and he chuckled.

“I don't know!”

“They didn't ask you when you took science?”

“Every bright student was expected to take science after tenth. They might have thought like that” He told shrugging.

“So you studied the completely unrelated business without saying anything? I mean it's absurd. Without any basics, how did you?”

“The cool dad you see now is not how he was years back. I was scared to stand in front of him for two minutes straight” He told.

“Don't you dare lie. I'll call dad and ask” She told frowning.

“To believe or not is your choice”

“It was his choice about you staying here too?”

“That was mine. It was taken as a protest to him. After my studies, I came back happily thinking I can finally stay with my brothers and sister but he didn't let me do that. Rudy told he's going to study in the same university I studied. I caught dad's legs and pleaded him to stop Rudy. He agreed too but at the last moment, seeing Rudy's puppy eyes, dad melted and allowed him to go” He told frowning and Anika chuckled.

“Where's dad's mistake in that?”

“He melted in Rudy's puppy eyes”

“You caught dad's legs?” She asked and he smiled sheepishly.

“I said in symbolic form” He told and she chuckled.

“What about Om? He didn't have any pressures?”

“Dad knew about his talent in arts. Also chote Papa always wanted him to become an artist”

“Did dad come to know about your wishes at least now?” She asked and he nodded.

“When I got the business man of the year award instead of him for the first time, we had a talk that night. He told me that was the proudest moment for him and that as a mentor, he was successful. In that state of mind, I told straight on his face that as a father, he failed to understand me”

“I still remember his face when I told him everything. It was as if he lost everything in his life that moment. He was too guilty and it took so many weeks for him to talk properly to me” His eyes brimmed as always thinking about those days.

She hugged him tightly with tears in her eyes.

“I'll tell you the best way to take revenge”

“How?” He asked chuckling.

“When we have a kid in future, ask him what he wants to be in front of dad” She told excited and he looked at her.

“When are you giving me that opportunity?” He asked with a mischievous smile and she looked at him suddenly realising what she told.

“I was joking” She told pushing him back and he chuckled.

“Really?” He asked and she got up from the couch before rushing to the bed.

“I'm sleepy! You continue working” She told lying down on the bed making him chuckle.

She turned to the other side with a blushy smile on her face.

“I'm going. I made alu puri for you. Have it when you wake up” He told caressing her hair and she smiled.

“Hmm”

“Bye” He told kissing her forehead.

“I love you” She murmured sleepily and he smiled.

“I love you too” He told as he covered her properly with the duvet.

He switched the light off as he walked out closing the door behind him.

When Anika managed to finally process whatever happened, he was already gone. She opened her eyes with a jerk before rushing down the bed.

“Shivaay” She called as she walked to the hall and then to the kitchen. It wasn't a dream. Alu Puri was really there on the kitchen counter along with a cup of coffee.

She couldn't help but smile as she rushed to the room and took her phone to call him.

“You learnt to make Alu Puri?” Was the first thing she asked as he attended the call.

“Say this after looking at the shape of the puri” He told and she chuckled.

“I didn't taste it yet. Why didn't you call me?”

“I didn't feel like doing that. I mean it's you who wake up and make breakfast for me everyday. I thought to let you sleep today” He told and she couldn't help but smile.

“Did you reach your office?”

“On the way”

“Are you talking while driving?” She asked with a frown.

“Bluetooth”

“Fine then! I'll taste it and call you back” She told with a smile.

“It's the first time we're not having breakfast together right?” He asked and she smiled faintly.

“You could have called me”

“Do you miss me?” His question made her want to pull his cheeks that instant.

“Bye” She told and hanged the call as she smiled.

“I miss you every single second you're not with me” She told to herself smiling.
