Chapter 31

[JULIAN]

"We're here," Zeus said, pulling the gear on park. I looked out the passenger window. We were in front of one of the many holiday homes in the estate. We were visiting Zeus' foreign lawyer who flew in during the week. I like the look of the house; it was like a little red and white dollhouse planted on the neatly mowed grass.

"Come on," Zeus said placing his hand on my shoulder. I turned to look at him shaking my head in reply. He looked different today, a lot calmer in his gray long-sleeved top and faded blue jeans. He also had creepers on and his trench coat was handing in the back seat.

I smiled encouragingly at him. Although he seemed calm I could sense a bit of his hidden nervousness. I was about the open the door to leave when I remembered Kelly's text that came in while he was driving.

"Zeus, have you checked Kelly's text?" I asked looking at him from the passenger seat. He was already outside with his back turned to me.

"Err, I'm checking it now," He said, turning to face me. I got out of the car just in time to see the message.

Kelly:

The baby's here, and he's a hand full.

I smiled at the text and the picture that came attached to it. Tamara was on a hospital bed, her lips spread out in a tired smile, and Kelly was seating next to her lying figure cradling their little new inmate of the world all wrapped in a dark blue blanket. Although I could see the obvious tiredness written on their faces, I could also see the affectionate aura they had for their child.

"I'm glad, she was a whole two weeks late," Zeus said referring to Tamara. I smiled not quite over the whole cuteness of the picture.

"We better get going," Zeus said putting off his phone and locking the car. I double-checked by trying to open them before we walked up to the porch, pressing the bell. Well waited a while before the knob turned.

"Zeus you're here."

I visibly tensed at the sight of Louis. What In the world is he doing here?

"Is he in?" Zeus said as I felt him take hold of my hand. I loosened up a bit, a little embraced that I still saw Louis as a rival to an extent.

"He is," Louis said, running a hand through his hair. His hair looked a lot lighter under the sun. I was still staring at him when he turned to me and muttered a small 'hello.' Startled, I just blinked and turned away. Zeus gave my hand a light squeeze. I sighed, a little annoyed before returning Louis' greeting.

"Come in," Louis said, walking into the house as we followed behind him. The front door directly led to the sitting room. Walking towards the peach-colored sofa arrangement I noticed a raised beer pallor just behind.

"You can help yourselves," A voice said startling me. I looked around to find a lean man sitting across from me on a single sitter. He was holding a thin glass of wine, he's blue eyes were set on me, studying.

"Of course," I heard Zeus say, coming from behind me and taking two glasses of wine from the tray on the center table just beneath me. He handed me a glass, urging me to sit down on the long sofa just beside the man.

The room stayed quiet for a while. I watched the blue-eyed man from the corner of my eye as he sipped from his glass; he was holding it oddly between his fingers. From what I saw he didn't look very professional, his long blonde hair almost as long as Zeus's was let down not held together neatly the way I liked it on Zeus. His face was flushed, an indication that he'd been drinking for a while.

"I need you to sign some papers so my law firm can confirm that I am in control of your case," He said lazily setting the now empty glass on the side table beside his sofa. My doubt about the foreign lawyer's English washed away; for someone from France he's English was quite flawless.

"I understand that," Zeus said squeezing my hand a little. The man nodded slowly flipping through a work folder he had retrieved from beside him.

"Read the fine print," he said, taking a few papers from the folder before handing them over to Zeus.

He put them in the center, a gesture asking me to read along with him. I did, and the firm's policies didn't seem bad at all. I nodded when we were done silently asking him to sign it. As Zeus signed away I looked over at the man, he wasn't looking my way but towards the beer pallor. I followed his gaze to Louis blushing, I turned back to him.

I can't get over how much he looks like Zeus at the same time was the exact opposite. His hair was long just like Zeus' but a light blonde while Zeus' was a very dark brown. His eyes had that some worth mature look Zeus' had but were a pale blue while Zeus' was sea green with specks of gold. He was lean but leaner than Zeus. His skin was pale while Zeus' had a tanned Latino look. They looked like opposites yet the same.

"Thank you." Zeus' voice snapped me out of my daze as he handed the papers back to the man.

"It's settled then, your first hearing is in about a week..." the man trailed as he and Zeus got up to shake hands. I stood up too, staying close to Zeus.

"I better see if I can mail these today," the man sighed, checking his watch.

"Leonardo? That's his name?" Zeus sort of stated and asked at the same time.

"Yes, nice to make your acquaintance," he said, nodding. Zeus' mouth parted but the man... Leonardo held up his hand.

"I know who you are," he said bluntly, looking from Zeus to me then back to Zeus. I held Zeus' hand, squeezing it in an attempt to somehow reduce the awkwardness.

"We'll be going then," Zeus said, nudging my hand and making me follow him to the door.

Closing the door behind us, Zeus turned to me and plainly asked.

"What do you think of him?"

"He's a bit cranky," I answered honestly, making Zeus laugh.

"You always know what to say..." he trailed, running his hand on me lightly. I looked up at him, and there it was again — that look. I turned my eyes away, brushing his arm away a bit too quickly. Damn, I could handle Zeus' horny 'I'm going to top you like something from the African savannah' look, but I couldn't handle this? Maybe it's because I didn't know what the look meant.

"Julian?" Zeus asked, reaching for my hand. I moved it from reach, earning a hurt look from Zeus.

"We—we better get going," I managed to murmur as  I half ran and half walked to the car. I waited for Zeus to unlock the doors before I hopped in. I knew I was acting weird, but I couldn't handle it. I couldn't handle that look.

Zeus entered the car and started the engine without a word. The car was into an awkward silence with Zeus giving me glances and me avoiding them. Zeus sighed, making his shoulders sag. I turned to look at me but I just turned my glance out the window.

"What did I do?" Zeus asked in a hushed tone, breaking the silence.

"Nothing," I said as my brows drew together in a frown.

"How can it be nothing and you're acting up like this?" Zeus asked, startling me. I guess he noticed my tension because he forced himself to relax, and I watched as he ran his fingers through his hair.

"Sorry. I—I—sorry," he said, cursing under his breath. The car was thrown into that uncomfortable silence again.

"Julian..." Zeus trailed in a soft tone that made me turn to meet his gaze.

"Julian you—God damn it!" Zeus cussed, holding his head. He took in a breath or two before looking back at me.

"You know, Julian, if you ever get tired of me..." Zeus trailed, biting his bottom lip.

"Just remember to let me down easy, okay?" Zeus said, his eyes begging. I could feel a huge lump form in my throat. Did he really think I'd get tired of him?

"No one said anything about leaving," I muttered, picking the lint on my trousers.

"I know. It's just if you ever get tired—"

"I won't get tired of you," I stated, cutting him off. Why was he talking like this? If anyone should be worried it should be me.

"You'll say that now, but it'll be different in the future."

"Zeus," I said, taking his hand in frustration. I looked at him more clearly now, his eyes were glossed over. Was he crying?

"Zeus," I said again in a calmer voice as I took his face in my hands.

"I'm not leaving you. Why would I leave someone I'm so attracted to?" I said into his face. He stiffened, closing his eyes. My heart did a double flip at the sight of his lashes. I had never realized they were that long before.

"I'm sorry, it's just—I get worried sometimes," he said, opening his eyes. He was giving me that look again. I didn't know whether to run or cry so I just kissed him, pulling a surprised moan out of him. When I tried to break the kiss he just deepened it, making it more intimate—more like a promise not to leave him.

I don't know why, but my mind wandered back to the night he said he loved me. Even if he couldn't remember or probably didn't mean it, the thought of it still nuzzled and warmed my heart.

I whimpered as Zeus broke the kiss to suck on my neck, anytime I caught a glimpse of his eyes they still had that look. My heart and emotions were doing a little dance in my cheats and stomach. Maybe this is why I'm so scared of that looks, they were just as confusing and mesmerizing as my emotions towards this man.

[LOUIS]

"How did it feel?" I heard Leonardo ask from the dimly lit sitting room.

"How did what feel?" I asked, mixing a drink for myself. I had booked the same holiday home as Leonardo. It was cheaper since we both paid half.

"Looking on as your love clenched to another man?" he asked. I wrinkled my brows wondering if he was he referring to Zeus.

"I—it wasn't exactly a problem," I said, pouring myself a glass of my wine. I walked down the open beer pallor to the sitting room. Leonard's eyes followed me as I took the seat just beside him.

"You're lying," he said, staring me with a frown. I turned away, taking a sip of my drink.

"You're lying aren't you?" He repeated, getting on my nerves. Not just because he was being nosy, also for the fact that he couldn't see that it was sincerely not a problem.

"I'm okay. It's not a problem, okay? In fact, why would it even be, I don't think of him like that anymore," I said, irritation staining my tone. I watched from the corner of my eye as Leonardo's eyes softened in confusion. I sighed, dropping the glass on the side stool beside the sofa before looking up at Leo. I'm tired of him giving me mixed feelings. I might as well just come out and say it.

"It wasn't a problem..." I trailed, suddenly shaky over the whole 'tell him outright' thing.

"I wasn't a problem because—because it's you I love, okay? I love you not him." I struggled to finish, balling my palms. Leo's eyes widened then returned to their regular size. Was that an outright rejection? It's not like I expected him to just open his arms or anything—

"I shouldn't have said that knowing you're with Jacque," I muttered, looking away from him. My cheeks felt warm, my palms were sweaty and my heart rate had already kicked up a notch, and he hasn't even said anything yet—rejected me yet.

"Are you trying to make fun of me?" Leonardo asked, making the hair on my neck to stand. I turned over to look at him in horror. Make fun of him, how?

"Louis, just because I'm not over you yet doesn't mean you should rub it in my face," Leo croaked, standing up. I looked up at him wide-eyed. He thought I was joking.

"Leo—"

"That was a very expensive joke."

"Leo—"

"It's not funny," he said, his voice muffled. I stood up and took his face into my hands. His eyes were glossed over with unshed tears, his nose and cheeks rosy from drinking.

"It's not a joke," I whispered, hoping that being this close to him would somehow show him how sincere I was.

"It has to be..." Leo trailed, placing his hands over mine. I gasped at how warm his palms were—at how much I wanted them to run over my body.

"Leo, I'm in love with you, and I'm not lying," I said, looking into his eyes. He tensed, diverting his eyes from my glance.

"Leo, listen," I begged, pulling his head down to meet my lips. He tensed up making my insides have a little panic attack. I was about to release him and mutter how much I was sorry right before he moaned into my mouth. My heart did a little backflip as his hands left my hands to my waist to pull me against him, grinding into me gently as he kissed me back.

I moaned, feeling the sudden lightness in my head and uncomfortable tightness between my legs. I tried taking off his shirt with my trembling fingers, but I couldn't even get a hold of any of his buttons. I groaned frustrated, making Leo giggle a little.

"You know, I should really go thank whatever brainwashed you," Leonardo said, laughing softly. The laugh was rough, carrying a hint of relief, happiness, and outright surprise.

"Nothing possessed me," I said in a breath as we stopped for air. Leo rolled his eyes, the side of his lips twitching in a smile.

"Less talking more kissing, I want to take as much of you as I can, before you return back to your senses," Leo said before whisking me into another kiss. I moaned into his mouth, letting him do whatever he wanted for now, even though in reality he had me forever because he had my heart.
