I could barely drag my tired self out of bed the next day. Lucky for me, Natsu was wide awake and willing to wake me up. By threatening to kiss me in front of the whole school, to which I fired a line of profanities in response. But I got up regardless and Natsu looked pretty smug when my tired and glaring eyes met his.

"Get out of my room," I bark at him, grumpy that he got me up.

"Maybe I want to stay," he teases.

"I have to change, you pervert!" I throw a pillow at him and he laughs as he leaves me. I throw my legs over the side of the bed and get myself onto my feet. Blonde strands of hair hung forward over my face and I blew them out of the way with an annoyed puff of air.

After that I shuffled to my closet and grabbed a grey tank top, a pair of jeans and I put a hoodie on over that. I left my hair down so I brushed it out and then I pulled on my black converse. Grabbing my bag I hurried down the stairs to the kitchen where Michelle and Natsu where talking over toast. I grabbed a slice and started to head out.

"Is that all you're eating Lucy?" Michelle asked surprised but I was already halfway out the door: yelling that yes, yes that was all I was going to eat. Natsu wasn't far behind me and he suggested we take his car. So I got into my seat and he got in the drivers side and we where off to school.

After we pulled into the parking lot I shuffled slowly inside, half hiding behind Natsu. He had a soccer team hoodie on for the school, reminding me that behind that athletic front, he was a fighter. I still know so little about him...why he's claimed he leads a dangerous life and what all him and his buddies fight for, and whom...

I'm snapped out of my thoughts by a round of poisonous laughter. My stomach dropped so far it probably reached China. Lisanna turned her head lazily, obviously taking advantage of a 'free dress' day at school, wearing a revealing tank top and denim jacket with a skirt that hardly counted as clothing.

"Look, Ms. Mute decided to arrive," one of her minions smirked.

"Did you like my heels? New stilettos are the best for bashing in annoying girls faces," Lisanna and her crew laughed.

"Shut up, no one cares," I snap, making all of them freeze and stare at me in disbelief. Lisanna recollects herself and glares.

"Everyone's cares, everyone has to care, that's why they are all jealous," she states it matter of factly.

I roll my eyes. "No, Lisanna, no one gives a shit. No one likes you! Can't you see all the people you're destroying? Don't you feel sorry? At all?" My uneven voice was raising and I was calling a lot of attention to the situation.

Lisanna pauses, "Well... Yeah, actually I do. I'm sorry everyone is so jealous of me. I can't help that I'm so popular!" She laughs and a chorus of laughs rings out behind her.

"No, you're a bitch everyone tries to avoid," I growl, my eyes narrowing.

"What did that whore just call me?" Lisanna asks her crew while holding back a smile.

"I believe I called you a BITCH, there could you hear it better that time grandma?" I was furious at this point. Lisanna looked at me with fire in her eyes.

"Fine, you want to play this game? Let's play this game," she hissed. Snapping her fingers two of the school's basketball players stepped forward, and I wavered. I hadn't expected a tougher opponent, let alone two, in a fight. Lisanna was smirking.

"Take out the slutty trash, boys." She ordered before turning on her shiny black heels and sashaying away. I balled my fists, ready to attack. But I was grabbed from behind, my arms pinned and my mouth covered.

"You shoulda kept quiet, mute," a dark voice glowered. I squirmed and struggled against my restraints as I was carried out of school. I kicked my legs trying to throw my captor off balance. I heard the other two not far behind, and I began to feel hopeless. This isn't what I wanted... Damn it Lisanna!

The boys dropped me on the ground and I scurried away. "Don't touch me!" I yelled when they neared.

"Aw, we gotta leave a few bruises at least!" One laughed.

"I'll leave you with more than just a few!" I hollered back.

"Whatever, mute. Just learn your place, and don't fight back," they spit and left me, heading back into the school. I got myself to my feet, shaking slightly.

"That was too close..." I murmur to myself, making my way back towards school. But then I stopped, and I looked towards the road. Part of me wanted to just leave, walk back way out to that distant field, and lay under the sun.

"The hell are you doin Luce?" A familiar voice drew my attention towards the school. Natsu was there, staring at me intensely.

"How'd you know I was out here?" I ask.

"Heard the talk, word spreads fast you know," he starts walking towards me. I barely nod in response. I felt dread taking the form of heavy lead in my limbs, keeping me from walking back towards the school.

"You alright?" He cocked his head to the side slightly.

I heave a deep intake of breath before releasing it with a soft, "Yeah."

"Think you can go back in?" He was right in front of me now.

"Sure," I breathe. "Let's go."
