In chinese characters, strokes are the main elements combined in order to form a character.

There are 6 common basic stroke. Even so you are required to learn and know of the additional strokes (combination of basic stroke).

This eleven common strokes will enhanced your memory in recognizing and memorizing the characters out of your head. So you could probably even write the characters in near time!
