Hero Camp Part 2

My small legs pumped with blood as I ran up the steep hill. My heart was in my throat as I saw the rising smoke from the forest.

I have one job - Phantom gave me one job - find the kid, get out, and tell the Heroes.

I'm La'Brava. I got this.

Yeah, the villains are moving faster than I thought they would, but I'm a famous hacker. All I need to do is find the kid and warn every Hero that I see. Easy.

Yeah, easy...

I found the path leading up the side of the cliff. I reached the top.

I stopped behind the turn. I bent over huffing.

"Why so blue, kid?" My heart froze as I heard the words, though the person was still out of sight. "Don't recognize me?"

The voice was close. Too close.

A kid screamed. The only auditable word that came out was a desperate, "No."

It has to be the kid!

Trying to be stealthy, I glanced around the rock. It - It was a villain. I gasped in terror. This wasn't suppose to happen. This wasn't in the plan. I leaned around the rock again getting a better view. My blood ran cold. It was the villain Muscular.

Every snippet of information flew through my head. He's killed many. Insane. Strong. His quirk is his muscles. The only Heroes known to critically injure him were the Water Hose Heroes. They took his left eye. But then, he took their lives.

"Guess you do remember. Your beloved Heroes aren't here to save you now!" The villain roared.

Bile burned my throat.

Dots clicked together. Memorized information came back into my mind. The Water Hose Heroes had a son. This kid is Koda. The son of the deceased Heroes.

His parents were murdered. I coun't help the thought, He's like me.

"No!" Koda screamed again. "I hate Heroes. I hate Villains! I hate quirks!"

A deep rumbling laughter. "What a sad life. You have no team to cheer for." Muscular stepped forward. "Say hi to your parents for me."

"Get back!" I screamed. My body moved. Anger and fear. And. And stupidness blinding my judgment.

There was a beat of silence. "Look a Hero."

I'm dead.

He towered over me. The kid screamed looking at the both of us. With the loudest voice I could muster, I yelled. "I'm no Hero!"

Another beat.

"Then you're stupid."

Maybe, I am. "Think this through, boss ain't going to be pleased if he finds out you killed a kid!" Lie, Brava lie. "That kid's not on the list."

"I'm not stupid. You weren't in the briefing."

"I've been undercover you fat idiot!" My heart was pounding so hard that the fear he would hear it was becoming real. Sweat dripped down my face.

"How do you think I know this is a kidnapping and not a slaughterhouse?"

Muscular threw his fist into the mountain. Rock crumbled. His cyborg eye swiveled to Koda. It glowed a dark red. "Doesn't matter if I just kill the two of you. Everyone knows there will be casualties."

"Run," I whispered.

"Run where?" Muscular responded. "There is not a single person here who can match my strength. Run. Where."

"Koda! Run!" I screamed.

As fast as I could I pulled the only weapon I had on Muscular. It was a modified taser Izuku gave me. It's powerful enough to stop a horse, but it's only a forty-second save until the battery burns out.

Koda didn't move but we did.

I was closer to Koda but Muscular was faster. We arrived at the same time. I threw the taser. The gadget worked. It struck his thigh. Green liquid exploded sticking to his skin. Then, I heard the electricity as it followed the path of the substance.

Pain filled me. Bam! The next second I was embedded in rock. My vision started turning black.

I can barely breathe. I felt small hands grab my shirt. Prying me out. "Run!" Koda screamed. My vision was going in and out. I am stupid. I have no right to ever be mad at Izuku again.

He would have had a chance.

........

I saw Muscular bend down and pick Brava up by an arm.

I have never moved faster. I thrashed my wings shooting across the ground. I slammed my heels into the back of Muscular's head. At that exact moment, Hawks appeared from above, one of his feathers turned hard, he crashed down impaling the sword into Muscular's shoulder.

If I hadn't kicked his head that feather would have paralyzed him. It could have killed him.

Hawks swore.

Without a moment to waste I hit the ground swooping up Brava and Koda. My wigs pushed me into the air. A fist slammed down, where we were moments before.

A ratcheted roar of anger.

Hawks jumped off his shoulder hovering in the air. The feather left in the man's shoulder.

Koda started screaming. "I'm going to die! We are going to die!"

"Over my dead body." My response made the kid scream even harder. Okay I'm not the best with kids.

My wings reacted from instinct before I heard Hawks' yell of warning. Koda let out a curdling scream. I dodged. A boulder brushed my shoulder.

Two of Hawks' feathers darted to Brava and the Kid. I let the feathers take them. Hawks moved his feathers holding them up and out of reach from the villain.

Hawks and I were untouched. Both of us hovering above Muscular. My wings pounded with power.

I am flying.

"I see you've sprouted a pair of wings and learned to fly!" Hawked yelled across the sky.

"That about sums it up!"

"Nice to finally meet you Phantom! Tell our friend Ren we have a lot to talk about!"

I faltered and fell a few feet.

"Don't worry! He knows!"

"Good!" Hawks dived at Muscular, one of his feathers slicing into his arm. Muscular's muscles quickly reformed disconnecting and reconnecting. The cut disappearing.

"Well, that's a new one!" Hawks yelled.

"He's not healing, he's covering the wound with different muscles! The cut's still there!"

I am useless just hovering and I don't know how to fight in the air. I tucked my wings in and dove for the ground. "Hawks! Give me a feather!"

"You mean like a helping hand," he joked, but still sent a sword feather at me. I grabbed it. I dashed across the floor using my wings to change my direction.

My memories flashed back to the fight with Stain. I tried to copy the exact form The Hero had Killer used. The feather made contact with the back of Muscular's' kneecap. His leg almost gave out, but he replaced the muscles. His body twisted his fist skimming across my back. My wings pushed me out of the way. I pivoted on my heel, slicing the feather across his wrist. His muscles moved.

Hawk's was suddenly there. Slashing his other leg.

In the close quarter, I ducked between his legs, cutting open his ankle. Hawks stabbed him again, while I sliced his leg. Muscular grabbed a rock hurling it.

"Hawks!"

Hawks quickly moved in front of Koda slicing the rock in half. Muscular moved and threw another. I slammed the sword down embedding it into his foot.

His blood sprayed on me. There's no time. I yanked the feather out. Muscular screamed. He swiped his arm. It landed. It sent me flying into the mountains.

I coughed tasting iron.

Muscular wasn't slowing down. He picked up another rock this time landing a hit on Hawks. I gasped as Koda and Brava fell a few feet.

The free fall awoke Brava. She started to cry in pain.

I darted again between the monster's legs, slicing the feather across the same spot as before. Muscular moved faster and I wasn't able to dodge. I brought my hands up blocking his leg.

The kick sent me flying straight up into the air.

I thrashed my wings and stayed there. Hawks flew up to me.

"Kid, looks like you're a natural flier after all." Blood dripped down his arm where rock had been embedded.

"Nope!" I yelled, "Took me eight years to even get in the air!"

The muscles in my back were screaming in overuse, but I was in the air, and not just in the air, we were much higher than the trees.

I was in the air.

Muscular screamed, "What, can't fight anymore? Chickened out birds?"

"Hawks, got an idea?"

"Don't die." He chuckled.

"Wow. I had never thought about that."

I started to hear Brava cry harder. Koda was mumbling nonsense.

"Can you fight him on your own? We need to get those two out of the way! They've become an impediment. You can't fight if you are keeping them safe! I'll get them back to the building!"

"Go! I'm the number three Hero! Kid, I'm fine!" He dove at Muscular who started moving off in a different direction.

I stayed in the air. Hawks moved his feathers with Brava and Koda towards me. I took them from Hawks' feathers. The extra weight made my wings flap faster. I was lucky that they're small.

I screamed down at Hawks "Don't die!"

"We are still going to have that conversation!"

I started to fly off. I heard Muscular try to come after us but Hawks stopped him.

Brava was crying silently. Koda was shaking; still mumbling.

"Brava, did you break anything?"

She tried to answer in humor, but it was grim, "Everything."

"Koda, are you hurt?"

"No." He sputtered over and over.

I landed on the roof of the building. I set Koda down and used both arms to carry Brava. I glanced down and noticed a fight happening at the base. There was a lot of fire. I spotted out Eraserhead and a bunch of students.

I was at a good vantage point and I could also see the field where Bakugo, Todoroki, and Ida had been fighting.

It seemed like more villains, Heroes, and students had shown up at that field. I couldn't see Gentle. I need to get these two inside the building. Brava was too injured. Koda followed me to the roof door access. I opened the door and went down the stairs.

I could hear students in the building.

Brava don't be mad at me but you will need medical help and the Heroes can give you that, and then when they take you to jail, I will come and break you out.

I started thinking about ways to break into and out of jail.

I whispered to her, "I have to leave you here."

She breathed out in pain, "I know."

"I'll come back. I'll come back to you."

"Promise me."

"I promise. Don't die on me." I stopped in the hallway knowing that there were people around the corner. I looked down at Koda. "Take care of her, okay. She's my sister." Koda's eyes went wide. He nodded. "She needs a friend like you."

I took a breath and went around the corner. The tension in the room grew immediately and I could sense fear.

I spotted Kirishima. I walked up to him.

"Careful, okay." I held out my hands handing over Brava. Brava let out a hiss of pain.

Kirishima immediately took her holding her as gently as possible. Kirishima was someone anyone could trust, and I trusted him with Brava.

Koda grabbed my elbow.

He had tears streaking down his cheeks.

"Koda." I took a bated breath, "You're one tough kid." Koda whipped at his nose trying to stop crying. "That's right kid, you're tough. When the world tried to hit, you hit it back."

Koda stood a little taller. "I'll help her."

I stood turning to Brava. "Brava, I gotta go."

Brava in Kirishima's arms looked small. I gave her a small smile. Brava reached out and I leaned in.

She whispered, "Let them know who you are. Please."

I stayed bent over Brava. I was close enough that she reached up and she touched my mask.

"Please." She whispered again, "Let me have this."

"Brava, you know I can't." I suddenly thought about Bakugo, Todoroki, and Ida.

I did. I already did.

"The villains know. Why can't your friends? I want to see you." She was in so much pain her voice was becoming softer and softer.

I stayed still and in a slow movement Brava grabbed my mask pulling it off.

Kirishima gasped along with everyone else.

"Ren?"

"Guard her with your life." I glared at Kirishima, making my point clear. "Yeah. It's me." I'm done caring about who I am. It's not the time.

Kirishima nodded.

"Izuku." Brava held my hand. "I love you. Come back."

Instantly her quirk took effect. Small green flickers of electricity sparked around me. Little specks of pink glittering down as well. My body felt lighter. Healthier. Stronger.

"I love you too."

I took off back to the roof. Should I go back to Hawks? Eraserhead; Bakugou; Gentle? I have a maximum of fifteen minutes minimum of five. Brava gave me everything she had left. I can't hesitate.

If anyone gets hurt; it's my fault.

The earth shook and the mountain where Hawks was started to collapse. I don't think he needs help. The poison gas. It wasn't as prominent. Gentle was fine. The ones who need my help are my classmates. They are the targets.

I jumped off the edge of the building. It took seconds to get to the field. I left a blazing trail of green.

Where was Bakugou?

"Where are they!" I yelled at the cat hero.

"They went back into the woods!" They said something about dark shadows! I tried to stop them, but they didn't listen."

No.

"All three of them?"

"Yeah. Koda?"

"He's safe! He's in the building!" There was another tremble, the ground shifting. It was Hawks and muscular again. Everyone paused looking at the cliffside trying to see the fight. "Which direction did they go!"

The cat hero pointed. "That-" her response was cut off as a reptile villain attacked. She kicked him in the gut sending him flying. The man reacts by throwing a knife. I moved faster than I thought my body was capable. I caught the knife midair and threw it back impaling the villain in the leg.

I turned taking off into the direction she had pointed. With the help of Brava's quirk the darkness of the night wasn't so dark after all. I moved as if I was the wind. I dodged every tree; every obstacle. My hearing was crystal. I can hear them. The animals.

Blackness. Monster. Fire. "Where!" I shouted.

They answered. Left. I turned propelling off of a tree. The tree cracked crashing to the ground behind me. This was the La Brava's power.

Please. Let me make it. Please. There was fire up ahead. I could hear Dark Shadow screaming. My eyes caught the figure dressed in orange. In less time than he could blink, I slammed my leg into the figure. But before the hit landed a wall of concrete appeared breaking instead.

I jumped back dodging the hand that swiped at my face. I twisted spinning my body as I shot a left kick, but this time a 'Stop' sign impaired my movement. The metal bent. The man jumped out of the way.

An explosion of fire flew at the man. Bakugou appeared from behind. Instead of the fire being blocked again it simply disappeared. Without a moment to think another wall appeared separating us from the villain.

The realization hit me. Bakugou was alone. "Where are they!" I screamed.

"He took them." Bakugou, with a better glance, had blood soaking his left side. "Shoji. Tokoyami. Ida. Todoroki. We were ambushed when we were helping Tokoyami!"

"Details!" I demanded.

"He can trap people and objects into those marbles. Don't let him touch you or it's game over."

The wall disappeared and an explosion blasted us backward."The name's Compress." I moved faster than Bakugou. I picked up a broken cement and aimed at the man's jacket. Bakugou caught on and hid my actions by lighting everything on fire. Creating a smoke screen. He yelled the word, 'Die'.

The hit landed and the rock, from what I could hear, cracked ribs. "You are a monster." Compress laughed wheezing in pain.

He laughed.

The lightning around me intensified causing a whirlwind clearing the area of the smoke. I snarled and used my wings to boost my speed. I crashed through a wall that appeared. I grabbed onto the man's arms keeping them away from me. "And you're nothing more than a pawn in someone else's game." Then I crashed my forehead into his masked face. The pain I felt quickly vanished. Compress' pain. I doubt it. His mask cracked and he stayed stunned.

I reared back again slamming my head into his. His body shook. This time leaving him limp. I let go of his arms and immediately emptied his pockets. I threw the marbles on the ground. They exploded around us leaving walls, and other odd objects. Then Ida.

"What" Ida coughed.

Shoji. Tokoyami. To my horror, a student from class 1-b appeared from a marble. Then three others. They all were dazed not knowing what was happening.

I threw another marble. Where are you? Todoroki!

BANG!

Seer pain filled my left arm. I yelled.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

I dodged the next two shots but the third one hit my arm again. I looked down. Instead of blood, I saw a syringe. Bakugou sent a wave of fire into the enemy's direction. Numbness spread to my fingertips all the way to just past my shoulder. My arm fell limp.

The green lighting around me sputtered.

Under me appeared water as Compress, now awake, broke a marble between his teeth. My wings shifted my weight pushing me airborne.

BANG. BNAG.

I twisted mid-air and caught the next syringe, but the second didn't hit me. It hit Ida! Ida dropped to the ground. Then - He disappeared!

"Die!" Bakugou yelled. He reached out blasting Compress, but with the water, It had gotten Bakugou wet. His hands didn't ignite!

Compress laughed. "You missed." He then placed his hand on Bakugou's outstretched hand.

Bakugou vanished.

My heart dropped. With my enhanced vision I saw Compress pop all three marbles into his mouth. He laughed again. "Four out of five. Boss is going to be happy." Then he closed his mouth.

The lighting flickered again. I have seconds.

An explosion sounded from Compress as he used another stored attack from Bokugou. He soared through the sky leaving the fight behind. He was trying to escape! He has them. He has the targets!

The explosion threw me in the opposite direction, but it threw me up. I stopped mid-air. I took in a sharp breath. Compress is running. He has the targets. He has my friends.

"No!" I screamed. The lightning around me answered. Every last bit of energy surrounded the feathers on my back. Then my body followed my will.

I flew.

I streaked across the sky. I was fast. Faster than Compress. Faster then Hawks could have ever flown. I crashed into the villain.

A gasp of pain left his mouth. "I thought you couldn't fly." I punched him in the throat and watched as a marble fell out breaking into Ida. But Ida was unconscious from the shot. He started to fall!

I grabbed Compress's neck with one hand and cut off his air. He sputtered. My other arm was still limp. If it hadn't been I would have forced his mouth open.

Compress opened his mouth and started gasping. The only left marble in his mouth fell out. I kicked the marble. It shattered. Todoroki started falling.

"Todoroki!" I screamed. "Save Ida!"

Todoroki snapped out of his trance. He dove down and caught Ida. He used his flames to crash land into the open field where the cat hero was.

Compress reached to grab me, but I slammed my head for the third time into his skull. This time his body stayed still. We started to fall.

A purple portal opened underneath us. I thrashed my wings moving us. But a hand reached out and grabbed Compress! Then I saw a glimmer as two marbles slipped out from Compress' mask; falling.

I let go and dove. Compress fell into the portal. I passed centimeters from it. I reached for a marble and crushed it in my hand as I caught it. In its place, a hand gripped back.

"Grab the other marble!"

Shinso reached out and took Bakugou out of the air and clutched it in his hand. I thrashed again trying to slow our descent.

The lighting flickered again and died. No. Shinso's weight pulled me down.

POP! A sickening pop filled the air as I was jerked back. My back and my wing now dislocated from each other. Shinso's hand almost slipped out of my grip. The portal was above us. A thick hand caught hold of my now useless wing. I screamed in pain.

"Izuku!" Shinso hand started to sweat. If he fell he would die. But, the outcome of going into that portal would be worse. I held on. I felt myself being lifted.

I watched as my tears dripped onto Shinso's face. It slid down his cheek as he looked at me in horror.

"This was all my fault. Everything. Tell Shota I'm sorry."

"Ren. Don't. Take me with-"

I let go.
