20 Can I tell you something?

Savannah POV

Grumbling, I stretched to turn off the annoying alarm clock. As always, it was far too early for my taste. The noise stopped. I yawned profusely and it wasn't long before long arms wrapped around me. Hot lips pressed against the spot just below my ear.

"Good morning sleepyhead." Damian murmured in my ear.

"Good morning, D... Sleep well?" I breathed, almost ready to fall asleep again.

It was just too cozy. I could lie like this forever if it wasn't for the fact that I had to go to the bathroom.

"Oh yeah... But I have to make my way to the airport now. Do you have a lot to do today?" he wanted to know.

"I have two meetings with my authors in the office. They want to bring me new parts of their scripts, but after that I'm coming home to edit some chapters. You know the hard work of an book editor," I replied as I grabbed his hand to stop him from getting up.

"So the same as always. But just so you know... When I get home, I've prepared a surprise for you," he said quietly in my ear.

And suddenly I was wide awake. I turned in his arms and stared at him.

"What kind of surprise?" I wanted to know, of course.

"The kind that requires a packed suitcase." he replied with a deep chuckle before giving me a kiss on the nose.

"What, but... You know I have to work, right?" I asked.

"I know, but you don't have to worry about that. I've already spoken to your boss." he replied proudly.

"Oh, sneaky. I like that." I said with a laugh.

"Oh my God! It's so beautiful here! I can't believe you arranged all this for me." I sniffled and wrapped my arms around his middle as soon as the door to this fantastic hotel room had closed.

Damian laughed softly and maybe even a little relieved as he gently rubbed my back while I clung to him.

"Savvy... cariño... I haven't even started yet. And believe me, after everything that's happened lately, you deserve this time off. Besides, it was you who said you wanted to hide away somewhere with me. And what better place than my island. Come on. I want to show you everything," he replied after a few moments of silence.

I leaned back and looked at him. Damian smiled at me and then gently placed his hand on my neck. He stroked my cheek slowly with his thumb. I reached out for him just as he leaned down.

Our lips met in a gentle, loving kiss at first. But it quickly became more intense. I began to gasp as I felt his large hands begin to explore my body.

"Okay.... I guess it can wait, you naughty girl." he finally said as he too struggled for breath.
Then he just picked me up and carried me to the bed.

I think that was one of the best weeks imaginable. And I really hadn't realized how much I had actually needed it. The sun, even though we almost always had it in Florida, the water and basically the whole atmosphere here. It was so different and yet also familiar.

"Ah! Stop splashing me!" I shrieked as I tried to get away from him.

However, the wet stones didn't make it easy, on the contrary. And the last thing I wanted was to hurt myself.

"Don't be such a spoilsport, Savvy. I like it when you're all wet." Damian said and I saw him stifle another comment by biting the tip of his tongue.

"Oh? Well, let's see how you like it then." I replied with mischief as it was now me who splashed him with water.

He squealed like a little girl before he climbed onto the rocks, grabbed me and carried me into the deeper water. The nearby waterfall was loud, but we could still hear the birds singing their song. And then there were many other sounds in the trees around us that I couldn't place. But that wasn't important at the moment.

What was important were the eyes looking at me. I wrapped my arms around his neck again.

"Are you enjoying yourself?" he asked softly.

"You can bet on it. Damian?" I replied.

"Hmm?" he said.

"Can I tell you something?" I wanted to know, suddenly a little unsure as even the tiniest trace of guilt bubbled up inside me.

"I love you too, Savannah. Mi cariño." he said simply.

"How? Oh whatever. I love you." I replied happily before simply pulling him close without another word.

A day later, reality had us back. We were back home and Damian couldn't help but laugh at my face while he helped me do the laundry.

"Oh come on. Don't pout. We can fly back to Puerto Rico soon. It's not that far away." he chuckled.

"Are you going to blame me for wanting to stay there alone with you for longer?" I wanted to know.

"Absolutely not, my darling." he replied, trying to sound serious.

However, he didn't succeed. His dimples gave him away immediately. God, he was really cute. I took advantage of the moment when he leaned over to give him a slap on the bum. He was just about to take revenge when the doorbell rang.

"You lucked out, but there's always later," he mumbled.

Laughing, I opened the door and to my surprise it was the policeman who was here because of the still unsolved vandalism at the house. Maybe that meant there was something new.

"Oh hello. If you've come in person, does that mean you have good news for us?" I asked.

"You can't say that. Mrs. Savannah Nichols, you're under arrest for attempted murder," he said coldly.
