Chapter 31

"What are you talking about?" I asked in frustration. I tried turning my head to see my back, but I couldn't.

"What does that even mean?" Pansy frowned.

"It's nothing that concerns you," father said calmly.

"It concerns me! What are you talking about?" I asked with a glare.

"We will have much to talk about. It is Tuesday so I'll see you Saturday," he said, and then disappeared.

"Alright what is on my back?" I asked, and then saw a full length mirror. I turned around I looked back at the mirror, examining my lower back. It wasn't hard to find; right in the center of my lower back actually. It was semi large and very noticeable. The lightening shaped scar that now marked my body.

"What the fuck?" I yelled and pulled my shirt down as Madame Pomfrey rushed in.

"Miss Riddle, you're awake!" she said, seeming flustered.

"Yes, can I go back to my dorm?" I asked with a frown.

"It's three in the morning!" she exclaimed.

"Thanks for the update, see you tomorrow morning!"

I pulled Draco and Pansy out of the infirmary, regardless of Pomfrey's protests.

"Wait so...you had a vision because of that scar?" Pansy asked.

"I don't know. I think?"

"Well, you see, a day after you fainted... Potter had a sort of episode that involved his scar. Do you think there's a connection?" Pansy asked uneasily.

"Not at all," I said coolly.

"Listen, do not tell anyone about it okay?" I asked and they both nodded. We walked into the common room and I saw the candles that surrounded Alex's portrait glowing faintly. It was quite dark seeing as everyone was asleep and I turned to my two friends.

"I want to try out for Quidditch," I said firmly and they exchanged glances.

"Leah, your father wants you to rest," Pansy frowned.

 "I don't care," I shrugged.

 "Well I do," Draco said.

 "Too bad," I shrugged.

"You've never even practiced before, you don't have a broom, you don't know the rules, and do you even know what spot you'll try out for?" Draco asked with his eyebrows raised.

"I don't need to practice, I'll borrow a broom, I can learn the rules tonight, and once I learn the rules I'll decide what I want to try out for," I shot back.

"It's Tuesday, we have lessons tomorrow and you want to stay up learning Quidditch?" Draco asked in surprise.

"Let's do it," I nodded. Draco sighed and shook his head, getting out a few books and pieces of parchment. I took that time to feed Hydra and grab parchment and a quill.

     Dear Mother,

I don't know if father told you, but I passed out for a week. I am fine, it was just because I was so worn out. I just need rest, which is impossible during my O.W.L. year, but again, I'll be fine. Quidditch try outs are tomorrow and I'm so excited. After learning the rules all night, I'm going to try out. Do not worry about me, whether I'm flying or studying because I have my friends to keep an eye on me. Riley is back and being held prisoner, which I will take care of later, and I do have something rather odd to discuss with you. I miss you very much and cannot wait until winter holiday to see you.

You already know Alex was murdered and I'm the one leading the funeral. I'm also leading the memorial service for the death eaters...my plate is quite full. I'm also very busy planning the Halloween party, but that's much more fun and I really want to do that. Wish me luck at try outs, I'll keep you updated!

                        Much love,

                               Leah.

I rolled up the parchment and sealed it before grabbing another piece and replenishing my ink.

         Dear Mikey,

I'm sure mom will tell you what's been going on with me, so I won't bother explaining again, but let me tell you, Umbridge is a total bitch. I don't want to worry mom with all of the other stuff going on, so I'll have to confide in you. Umbridge made me write lines, only instead of ink, I had to use my own blood. So, now my hand reads 'I will not be disrespectful', and my cheek reads 'I must obey'. She's fucking insane. I swear I'm gonna kill her.

Anyway, father gave me my very own snake! Her name is Hydra, and I love her very much.

Oh, and more drama, Ariana murdered Alex. She's now on my hit list. Meanwhile, you are on hers, along with Pansy, Draco, and Blaise. Of course there are others, but you're the main targets. She's after Pansy next. But don't tell anyone, I can take care of it. Trust me.

On a lighter note, I want you to come to the Halloween party I'm planning! Just come in a costume and you'll be set. Miss you, and hope to see you on Halloween.

                                  Your favorite sister,

                                             Leah

I rolled up that parchment as well and sealed it before going over to Alisana who was by the window. I tied them to her leg and stroked her feathers.

"To Mother and Mikey, okay pretty girl?" I asked and she hooted before soaring away.

"Are you ready?" Draco asked and Pansy waved her wand so three cups of coffee appeared on the table.

"I just asked the house elves to prepare enough coffee to last the night," Pansy smirked.

"Alright, let's do this," I smiled.

"Quidditch is played up on broomsticks up in the air. There are three goal posts at either ends of a field. That field is called a Quidditch pitch. Quidditch has three balls. The ball that scores the points is the Quaffle. The Quaffle is 12 inches in diameter and is made of leather bindings. The Quaffle has made some different changes over the years.

"The Bludger is probably the most dangerous ball of all of them. It flies through the air being hit by players called beaters. Serious injuries have been caused by Bludgers hitting people and causing them to fall off their brooms. The third and most important ball is the Golden Snitch. The Golden Snitch is a tiny ball that has wings and is enchanted."

"The first Snitch was a tiny bird that was very small and very tiny, but changes to the rules made it illegal to use the actual bird. The current enchanted, winged ball version of the Snitch was invented by Bowman Wright of Godric's Hollow. If the Seeker catches the Golden Snitch, his or her team earns 150 points and usually wins the match," Draco explained, showing me a lay out of the pitch. (A/N: this information is all from www.hp-lexicon.org in the Quidditch handbook.)

He went on to explain the goal posts, what each player does, and how you can score. I started becoming tired, but we just chugged more coffee to keep us going.

"Okay, so the chaser scores with the Quaffle, the keeper blocks the goal posts, the beaters hit the Bludgers, and the seeker catches the snitch?" I yawned, taking another drink of coffee.

  "Exactly," Draco nodded.

"Alright, and I can basically do anything I need to do to win?" I verified.

"The other teams don't go as far to hit the others, but we do," Draco smirked.

"I think I want to be either a chaser or beater," I said thoughtfully.

"Try out to be a chaser, I think you could really do some damage trying to score or trying to get the Quaffle from the other chaser," Pansy said, her head flat against the table, which only moved if she was drinking more coffee. I was beginning to feel a major coffee buzz and couldn't stop bouncing my leg.

"I'm ready for this!" I beamed, slamming my coffee mug down on the table.

"Shut up, people are sleeping," hissed Pansy, who seemed to have been dozing off herself.

"So what? They have to get up at like seven," I shrugged. It was now five thirty.

"They have an hour and a half left," Draco said, and he seemed jittery too.

"I need to see Severus," I said, standing up.

"Why?" Pansy groaned, rolling over on the floor and grabbing a pillow.

"I need a broom!" I smiled, and left the common room with an excited spring in my step.
