Chapter Thirty-Three
I walked into the common room to see my Slytherins waiting up for me.
"Leah, you can't compete!" Pansy yelled, coming over to me in tears.
"I have to," I sighed, dropping to the couch.
"How'd you get your name in the Goblet?" Draco asked quietly.
"Draco, I didn't put my name in," I said.
"Then how did you get chosen?" he asked.
"I don't know... I just...I don't know," I said, making my voice crack and then letting the tears spill. I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and I saw Crabbe hugging me.
"You're hugging me?" I asked in disbelief.
"You're not all bad...and this tournament wasn't meant for you," he shrugged. I smiled slightly and then I felt another pair of arms around me, and when I turned around, Draco's lips were pressed to mine.
"It's going to be okay," he murmured and I nodded.
"Well... Slytherin has a Hogwarts champion!" Blaise cheered and I smiled.
"Time to show 'em who really rules the school," Pansy grinned.
"If I have to compete, I might as well win," I shrugged.
"You're skilled enough," Draco agreed and I laughed.
"What's the first task?" Goyle asked.
"They didn't tell us. It a surprise," I said, rolling my eyes.
"You'll win anyway," Blaise shrugged.
"Of course I will. But, once again, Potter is mad at me," I smirked.
"Why?" Draco smiled.
"I was acting too Slytherin for him," I rolled my eyes. The common room fell out laughing, everybody talking at once about Potter and the tournament.

I woke up before my alarm and groaned. I slept like a rock last night, not even having a single dream. I got dressed, not even bothering with any part of my uniform. I turned my hair back to the pretty blonde and decided I wanted to keep it like that for a little while. I made my way into the common room and smiled as I saw familiar blonde hair over top of a Daily Prophet. I walked over and took the paper away, smirking at Draco. He laughed and pulled me onto his lap.
"Good morning, love," he smiled.
"Good morning," I smiled back before kissing him.
"I like starting off my mornings like this," he chuckled.
"Get used to it," I said. I then noticed something blinking on his shirt and smiled brightly. He was wearing a badge that read LEAH LOVELAND, THE SLYTHERIN CHAMPION! Draco caught me looking at it and smirked before poking it and the letters turned red. POTTER STINKS. I laughed loudly and Draco laughed with me.
"Brilliant," I smiled.
"We made them last night after you went to bed. Here you go," he smiled, handing me one. I pinned it to my shirt and smirked. Potter won't be happy with me, but I'll deal with that later.
"Come on, let's go down to breakfast," he smiled and I stood up, taking Draco's hand. When we entered the Hall, there weren't many people there yet, so thankfully it was peaceful. For the time being. I'd only just started eating when Viktor sat down across from me.
"Leah, I cannot believe somebody put your name in the Goblet. I von't let you get hurt," he said, and then laughed when he saw my badge.
"And if I vant one?" he smiled.
"You want a Leah Loveland badge?" I asked skeptically. He nodded and Draco handed him one. He put it on and accidentally hit it, making it flash POTTER STINKS.
"I like the double sayings," he laughed.
"We have double potions today, don't we?" Draco grimaced, changing the conversation.
"Ugh, yes...with the Gryffindor's," I groaned, glancing at their table. Some of them came down, which included Creevey, and the Weasley twins. Ron Weasley strode in angrily and threw me a vicious glance before sitting down at the end of the Gryffindor table. I raised my eyebrows but didn't say anything as Potter and Seamus walked in and sat down at the other end; Granger in the middle looking very conflicted. I snickered and then stood up along with Draco just as Pansy hurried in.
"Hey, why didn't you wait?" she scolded and I shrugged.
"You were sleeping," I smiled and she scowled.
"Hey Leah," Neville nodded as he walked in and I nodded back. Pansy walked over to the table and sat down next to Blaise. Crabbe and Goyle were running down the hallway just as Draco and I started walking out of the door. Draco and I slowly walked down to the Potions room hand in hand. We took our time, wandering down halls we didn't need to, and reached the dungeons when everyone else did. Potter and Granger were walking together but Weasley was nowhere in sight. I finally found him scowling further back. Potter eyed our badges we managed to pass around the entire school.
"Like them Potter?" Draco asked and I sighed.
"That's not all they do, look," he smirked and then poked the badge so it flashed POTTER STINKS.
"Draco," I said sternly. All the other Slytherins were coming up and they pressed their badges also. All but me. I've still got to pretend. Potter looked at me angrily and I shrugged.
"Oh very funny, really witty!" Granger spat at us and then glared at me. Weasley was joined by Dean and Seamus, and he wasn't sticking up for Potter, he was actually admiring my badge.
"Hey Leah," Weasley called out, and Potter looked at him hopefully. I gave him a steely glare and he kept his face emotionless.
"Toss me one," he said, surprising me. My eyes widened and I pulled one out of my bag, tossing it to him. He pinned it on and clicked it over to POTTER STINKS. I looked at him in surprise but said nothing.
"Want one, Granger?" Draco asked her.
"I've got loads, but don't touch my hand now. I've just washed it you see; don't want a mudblood sliming it up," he sneered and I kept my gaze emotionless as Granger looked at me as if to say "you chose him?" Potter pulled out his wand and pointed it at Draco and Draco pulled out his.
"Draco," I warned at the same time Granger said,
"Harry!" Students backed up and I stepped back hesitantly after Draco shot me a small smile. They locked eyes and then sent spells at each other at the same time.
"Furunculous!" Potter shouted, and Draco shouted,
"Densaugeo!" I ducked as Potter's spell rebounded and hit Goyle; who was behind me. Draco's spell hit Granger and she had her hands over her mouth. Goyle was sprouting boils all over his face. I took one look at Goyle and burst into laughter, which caused tears to spill. Draco was laughing at Granger though and Pansy couldn't seem to catch her breath. I looked over at Granger who had buck teeth down to her collar. I couldn't help it; I had to laugh. Potter glared hatefully at me and I bit my lip. I calmed down enough to notice the Gryffindor's glaring hatefully at us, and Severus watching us with mild curiosity.
"What is all this noise about?" Severus drawled softly. We all started explaining at once, but he pointed to me and said, "Explain."
"Well sir, Harry attacked Draco-"
"We attacked each other at the same time!" he yelled at me. I glared slightly before resuming.
"And he hit Goyle," I said, pointing to him. Severus looked at him and frowned.
"Hospital wing, Goyle," he said calmly.
"Malfoy got Hermione, look!" Weasley spoke up and Severus looked at Granger. Pansy started giggling again.
"I see no difference," he said coldly and she ran off crying. Weasley and Potter started shouting at Severus and some other Gryffindor's joined in.
"Enough!" Severus snapped.
"Let's see, fifty points from Gryffindor and detention for Potter and Weasley," he said and I smirked.
"One for Leah, also," he said and I crossed my arms.
"Why me?" I asked angrily.
"I don't like you," he said simply and I glared.
"I'm sure my father will be pleased to hear it," I said. Severus narrowed his eyes but held his ground. I know he's being a hardass simply because he can't show favoritism but I'll be damned if he's going to give me detentions for no reason. We all entered the classroom and Severus began his lesson, but soon the door opened and Creevey entered the room.
"Yes?" Severus asked curtly.
"I'm supposed to take Harry Potter and Leah Loveland upstairs," he said.
"Loveland, go, but Potter must wait until the lesson is over."
I smirked and stood up, taking my bag. I started walking out but realized Creevey hesitated.
"Well?" I asked impatiently.
"Sir, Mr. Bagman wants him. All the champions have to go, I think they want photos..." he said nervously to Severus.
"Very well, Potter leave your things here, I want you back here later to test your antidote!" he snapped.
"He's got to take all his things-"
"Very well! Potter get out of my sight!" he snapped and then shot me a look that meant I was to leave also. We walked out of the potions room and up the stairs.
"Creevey," I said coolly.
"Y-yes, Leah?" he gulped.
"What are these photos for?" I asked with mild interest.
"The Daily Prophet I think," he said.
"Brilliant," I smiled and Potter looked at me.
"You actually want to be photographed?" he asked distastefully.
"Not everyone can be as famous as you. I want my moments too," I said sourly.
"Leah, what's gotten into you? How could you have laughed at Hermione? Or come up with those badges?" he asked angrily.
"I laughed at my own house also, and I didn't make these badges. The others made them, and I wore it. You didn't see me flashing POTTER STINKS around the whole school, did you? I'm really sorry, but I want to be friends with everyone, and it's sort of hard!" I defended.
"You threw me under the bus and didn't even defend Hermione when Malfoy called her a mudblood. He's completely controlling you!" he yelled and Creevey was watching awkwardly.
"He is not controlling me! I make my own choices!"
"He's always got his arm around you like you're his property! You can do better, Leah!" he said and we were at a standstill.
"He is better. He's the best I could have possibly asked for," I glared.
"Ron, Ron was your perfect shot at a great relationship, but you blew him off! He's better than that stupid git! He's a filthy arrogant Pureblood!" he spat.
"I'm a Pureblood, too Harry! It's better than a Half blood, or worse, a mudblood!" I snarled and then I saw his face fall.
"I didn't mean that," I muttered.
"Yeah, you did. I still have your back in this tournament, but we can't be friends. I'm sorry," he shrugged and I looked back at Creevey who was in shock.
"Whatever, come on Creevey, where are we going?" I asked him and he silently led us up the stairs to some random room. I walked in angrily and sat down on the couch.
"Even you have a badge!" Potter said in exasperation as he saw Viktor. Viktor gave me a slow smile and I managed a small one back.
"Leah, iz something wrong?" Fleur asked with a frown.
"No Fleur, I'm fine," I said bitterly. She gave me a questioning look before sighing.
"Oh good, our other champions are here! Excellent, excellent, it's time for the wand weighing," Bagman nodded and I saw Ollivander standing at a desk.
"Oh, Ms. Loveland, it seems we're meeting again," he smiled.
"It would seem so," I nodded.
"How's your sister? I saw great things in her," he smiled and I clenched my jaw.
"She's dead," I said, and the room fell silent.
"I'm very sorry... ah Rita, why don't you take over?" Ollivander asked nervously.
"Certainly... I'm Rita Skeeter from the Daily Prophet love; I've heard many things about you. Ah, but Harry Potter...the boy who lived. Right, let's start with the girl!" she said and then pulled me aside.
"Why am I so special?" I asked and she laughed.
"Oh dear, your whole family is dead, you're a Slytherin befriending Gryffindor's, and your dating the one and only Draco Malfoy! Lucius's boy," she purred and I wrinkled my nose.
"Ugh, you have a thing for Draco's dad," I wrinkled my nose.
"Oh, he's just too dreamy dear. Anywho, the youngest champion I'm assuming?" she asked, pulling out a quill.
"Yes," I nodded and she smiled.
"I'll be using a Quick Quotes Quill dear. So, at the age of twelve-"
"Fourteen," I snapped, and her smile faltered.
"Right, a fourteen year old capable of breaking every boy's heart at school is entered in a dangerous tournament that could end her life. Do you feel that this is unfair? Are you nervous?"
"No, not really. I don't wish to compete but I'm not nervous or frightened," I shrugged.
"Oh, a fearless one! So, how did you get your name in that Goblet? We'd all love to know!" she smiled.
"I didn't put my name in," I said coolly.
"Of course not, of course not! You know, everybody loves a rebel. Would you say this is an act of rebellion, or are you just hopelessly misunderstood?"
"A rebellion obviously," I said sarcastically.
"Yes, you have that bad girl vibe to you. Tell me, are you friends with any of the other champions?"
"Viktor Krum," I nodded.
"Oh, how lovely Viktor Krum, the famous Quidditch player; anyone else? Perhaps...Harry Potter?"
"No, we've had one too many disagreements to remain friends."
"Pardon me, I hate to interrupt, but we need our champion back, Ms. Skeeter," Dumbledore smiled, coming up to us. Thank god.
"Of course, Dumbledore," she smiled, and then winked at me before strutting off. She creeps me out.
"Ah now, Mr. Ollivander, please carry on with the weighing of the wands."
"Of course, Ms. Fleur Delacour?" he smiled and Fleur handed over her wand.
"Hm, nine and a half inches...rosewood, and oh my," he said, looking at her in shock.
"An 'air from zee 'ead of a veela, one of my granmuzzers," she said proudly.
"Yes...I have heard veela core wands can be very temperamental, but if it works for you, then that's wonderful! Orchideous!" he said and handed Fleur the orchids he made flourish from her wand.
"Alright, Mr. Diggory, your turn," he smiled and Cedric handed over his wand.
"Mm, this is one of mine," he smiled and examined the wand.
"Containing a male unicorn hair...ash...twelve and a quarter inches; excellent condition," he smiled and produced a stream of smoke before handing Cedric his wand back.
"Mr. Krum, if you please," he smiled and Viktor passed over his own wand.
"Yes, a Gregorivitch wand. Hornbeam and dragon heartstring?" he asked, and Viktor nodded.
"Yes, rather thick, and ten and a quarter inches. Avis!" he said and birds burst from his wand.
"Good, now Mr. Potter," he said and smiled as he motioned for Potter's wand.
"Yes, yes, I remember very well. Holy, eleven inches, and containing the feather of a phoenix. Very good," he said and then made wine stream from it.
"Now, finally, Ms. Loveland," he smiled at me and I took out my wand and handed it over.
"Ah, I remember this one too. Very powerful magic coursing through this wand; I'd told you you'd do great things," he smiled.
"Terrible, but great," Potter muttered and I gave him daggers with my eyes.
"Right well, Birch, unicorn hair core from a very feisty female. She nearly killed me," he chuckled.
"Hm, eleven inches, very good. Quite a pure wand you've got there, are you upholding that reputation?" he asked with a small laugh.
"Of course not," I smirked and a couple of people laughed, but of course Potter didn't. He made green and silver sparks come out and smiled.
"Perfect condition, Leah," he complimented and I nodded as I took back my wand.
"Okay now, lets get some photographs for the Prophet, dears," Rita said, ushering us into the center to the room. She had Potter and me in the middle with the others behind us. Potter was barely smiling and I was giving my famous smirk.
"Perfect, now let's do some individuals. Leah, come on over here," Rita said and she let me pose freely. The others got their individual shots, and then we were able to leave. I hurried out and found Draco in the Great Hall.
"I hope you know Rita Skeeter has a thing for your dad," I said in disgust as I walked up.
"I didn't need to know that," he said with a frown. I laughed and then frowned as well. Father was calling.
