Part 4 (1-16-18)

I am the last of my kind. My parents always told me to find my purpose in life. I was told to find love and start a family. So that's what I did. I met young man named Jonathan. After a few years of hiding it, I told him of what I do. Everyday I would create songs to make the sun rise. I only told him because I was expecting twin girls. I knew they would have to carry on with what I do.
The children were beautiful. Eva and Stella grew up as any kid would. On their 5th birthday I began to teach them of what we are. Every morning I would take them to my field and sing, bringing the sun with it. But we had to be careful. The things that killed my parents won't stop at anything to get their hands on one of my girls. So when I found out I was pregnant again I swore I would never let them be seen. Eva and Stella were being hunted by the shadow people. Everynight they would try to get in the house or into their minds. Everything they would touch would crumble or become corrupt. My duty was to keep peace and prosper from disaster. Later that year after the girls turned 12 I had twin boys. Adam and Orion were quiet. Though they always sought out adventure, I had top keep them inside. Eva grew into a beautiful young girl with curly brown hair and the signature violate eyes of our species. Whereas Stella has auburn hair and violate eyes.
"Mommy? Why can't we go outside?" Adam was persistently asking. I could never bring myself to tell the innocent 3 year old. His blonde hair settled perfectly as compared to Orion. Orion took after Eva the most.
One night the creatures had come for the girls. It was my mistake to not lock the house before leaving though. Adam had snuck out of the house when I was teaching the girls one of the final lessons. Adam crept around the deck being as quiet as his toddler feet would allow. He watched as Eva, Stella, and I sang towards the water. As black figure took him by the wrist causing him to let out a shill scream as the darkness surged up his arm. Turning around the the sudden disturbance I saw a man holding him and he simply vanished. The damage was done. The girls followed closely in toe as I ran up the hill to find a nearly lifeless body of my son on the deck. I had to see little Orion break all of my rules and run out of the house. His brother was lying there as the darkness absorbed him. The tears streaming down my face dripped on him. Eva and Stella, who were 15, had to bare this, but worst of all, Orion lost the only person he knew to darkness. He future was pushed into depression. Slowly moving Orion took my hand.
"Mommy? It's ok mommy. Brother is in a better place. He wanted to say sorry before he left. He thinks you're mad at him." I look at the toddler. Not a single tear was on his face but I could tell he was special. He could talk to his brother. He was giving me closure. I thought I had fail him and I knew I did.
Weeks went by but nothing made it better. I finished the girls training and explained that they would train Orion. That night I took the gun from my closet and walled out side. Reading each letter I wrote made this harder.
To Jonathan,
This kills me to know what you will have to go through. I can't thank you enough for not leaving my sure when you found out.
Your Dearest

To Eva,
My dear, life will get better. I want you to go on with my legacy. Have a happy family after you finish school. You and Stella are my pride.
Mom

To Stella,
Listen to your father and continue life. You have a wonderful future ahead. Don't waste it in mourning. You and Eva will have to teach Orion everything I tought you. Be brave.
Mom

To Orion,
I know you won't understand. You are far to young to know what is happening. When you grow up things will be better. Your sisters will take care of you. Everything good in your life will happen because I did this. Your brother and I will be together. I will talk to you when ever you want.
Love,
Mommy

I looked at the gun once more before going to place each note on everyone's door. As I left the gun seemed wrong. I couldn't do it. Instead I called upon the shadow men. "Veni in umbra hominibus. Tu suscipe me sicut Adam tulit". Silence fell as a figure appeared out of no where. "Bellum ut te postremo dedit in". Our latin conversation carried on of a few moments until I gave in and took his hand. The pain shot through me like a thousand knifes repetitively stabbing me then darkness.
