Kai jumped awake, seeing he was laying on his back against some sand. Hearing some waves of the ocean a few feet away, he realised he was on a beach. The red ninja felt his head ache with his vision slightly blurry for some reason, he moved a hand brush his amburn brown hair out of his face. His heart started racing when he looked up to only see the dark grey clouds, seeing how they seem to go on forever with no end to be seen. As Kai sat up on his rear, he felt nothing but pain shoot through his body, luckily it was bearable. Seeing he was wearing a green uniform instead of his red one.

He was still on the dark island, remembering what just had happened what felt like moments ago. Kai assumed he must have fainted or passed out after his friends had escaped from this terrible place. Remembering the plan Lloyd had told him in secret. Kai would pretend to be him, running around to distract the stone army and Lord Garmadon while Lloyd would get everyone off the island before he would seal the island. Containing all of the dark matter to the dark island, permanently sealing away the darkness that had took over most of the Ninjago. It took numerous times for the blonde to finally convince his friend to help in his plan to save everyone within of all of Ninjago, knowing he was risking his life at most to protect everyone. The moment when Kai looked back as he jumped off the ship running on the beach, making enough noise to draw attention to him. Making eye contact with his friends, his sister look back in pure horror and disbelief. By the time they saw what kai was doing, it was too late for them to try to intervene with Lloyd driving the makeshift boat away from the beach.

That was most Kai could remember now, after returning his focus to the beach he heard a loud explosion before he must have passed out. He forced himself to get up onto his feet, looking around see no one thankfully. Kai took in a deep breath, noticing a small dot of red in the distance. The brunette felt his fear raise, as thoughts started to cried in his head. Running to the spect of red, his heart seemed to pound in his head. Kai stumbled as he stopped himself at the the clothing in the ground seeing no one in them. He fell to his knees, reaching his hand out to touch the clothing only to felt a lump apparently inside. He pulled the clothing up to see a couple things fall out, some golden looking sand and a little red note. Kai picked it up, felt his stomach in his throat as he eyes read the words out.

“Save everyone, even if it means you are the only one who dies.”

The words ran through out his head, trying to understand what was happening. Hoping his little brother was still alive and didn't do something that he would do. Kai touched the golden sand, feeling sick enough feel something raise in his stomach. Most likely to be bile. Kai started to choke out a sob, feeling his eyes water and beginning to stream down his face.

“Lloyd….” Kai cried softly, burying his face into the red clothing with his body shaking uncontrollably. Letting out a loud scream of agony. Not paying any attention to the loud vehicles closing in on him with stone soldiers ready to capture the mourning the loss of his friend.

Making the brunette jump awake from his nightmare, shaking horribly. Panting from lack of air in his lungs. He coughed softly, wiping his eyes knowing he was crying in his sleep again, this wasn't the first time Kai found himself crying with that same haunting day from his nightmare. It still felt like yesterday that Kai lost Lloyd when in real time it has been little over a year since that day. However he wasn't the only one mourning the green ninja, it nearly destroyed Garmadon along with all of Ninjago seeing a kid sacrificed himself for everyone's safety from the dark island. The red ninja didn't know his sister's nor his friends reactions since he hasn't talked to any of them yet. Luckily he learned about the memorial day for Lloyd from the internet but it annoyed him, everyone only knew him for his death rather for him being the lovable and misfit of a kid.  

Hearing a knock on his door to his room made Kai jump in his bed, grabbing at his chest in an attempt to calm his heart.  

“Kai are you awake?” a husky voice questioned the brunette.

“Yea.. hang on Garmy..” Kai let out a sigh,  getting out of bed. Feeling his stomach kick a bit as he reached the door of his small room, it had a bed, closet and a couple bedside tables with plenty of blankets on his bed. He opened his door to a middle aged looking man, grey strands on hair noticeable difference from the dark brown hair. With stumble on his face, making him looked more tired with bags under his crimson red eyes.

“Same nightmare…?” Garmadon said, brushing his hand through Kai's hair as he nodded. Kai's hair was down, he had lost touch with his prized hair style but now it was a curly mess that occasionally covered one eye.

“Do you want some hot chocolate? Or something to eat?”

“No, I'm okay but..” The brunette bit his lip, feeling his heart ache a little. “Could we talk.. about the baby and...this?”

Garmadon looked taken back from the request but he cleared his throat.

“Of course, do you want to talk in the living room?” He asked Kai, feeling some tension growing in between them.

Since that night, Garmadon had showed more kindness towards Kai, mostly because he was carrying a baby. The brunette not knowing he was pregnant until a couple months in, the older man explaining what he had done to the red ninja. Within a couple more weeks Kai had started to suffer from something, his chest aching every time he was with Garmy or whenever the warlord showed kindness, getting him food or a change of clothes. The red ninja realised he had fallen in love with the warlord and had attempted to bottle his emotions. However by the time Garmadon was about to escape from the dark island with Kai, he admitted his feelings. Of course the warlord rejected him, telling the young adult that he was just suffering from a case of Stockholm syndrome.

This did cause some tension in time they lived together in a small cottage Garmadon had found for them. Including separate rooms for them, mostly to avoid any “unnecessary” cuddling even if they shared different beds.

“I… still think I have feelings for you..” Kai softly blurted out, making the older male stop in his tracks. Causing Kai to crash into his back since he wasn't paying attention.

“Kai I already explained to you it's not real-”

“Well sorry but it's true I can't stop thinking of that damn day!” the pregnant boy yelled, interrupting Garmadon. “That day where we fucked and we both enjoyed it! Out of the times I was forced to get fucked, I wanted it to be you instead of the thugs of freaks!”

At this point Garmy knew he couldn't calm Kai down with a normal hug or a small embrace.

“I'm sorry but I want to be with YOU! I want to go out with You! I want to replace that horrible woman that abandoned Lloyd! I want to be a parent for lloyd too, I don't want to be without you!”

Silence shorty fell between them after Kai's sudden outburst, Garmadon staring at the brunette, who was staring at the floor. Thinking about what he just said, growing emotional quickly with tears returning to his eyes.

“I.. even a kiss on the lips or cuddling when I'm afraid..that's all I'm asking..” Kai mumbled loud enough for the older man to hear, beginning to wipe his eyes.

A pair of arms reached out, grabbing Kai and pulling the pregnant boy into an embrace, squeezing his shoulders tightly. Nuzzling his face into his hair, letting out a sigh. The brunette didn't expect a hug, confused by the surprise affection from Garmadon. The younger male buried his face into Garmadon's chest, wrapping his arms around him, returning the hug. Squeezing tighter, clinging onto to the man as if he was going to leave Kai all alone.

“So, you still want a relationship between us rather than the friendship we had built…?” He asks, kissing Kai's head.

“Yes...you're basically dating me, you care for me as if we were actually married for years- ow” Kai protested before getting flicked before Garmadon in his forehead.

“Don't move onto conclusions. You wish for attention from me so I will give needed attention to you but if this moves onto a more serious we are both to blame for it.”

Garmadon holds Kai, comforting him before sitting down with the brunette resting against his head on Garmy's shoulder while he was sitting in his lap. The man had his arms around his new lover now, holding him closely. Kai had his eyes closed, smiling feeling better to have his feelings finally accepted. Maybe they could get more advance with their new relationship, Kai would ask his lover of they could perhaps get engaged or even elope together. Even the thought of them getting married and acting like couple made Kai's heart melt a little. Thinking maybe they could even adopt pets together like some couples seem to do. Garmadon thought it wouldn't be half bad, even better than his previous marriage with the woman he once loved. Now he had a difficult time explaining how he felt about her, mostly hatred from her abandoning Lloyd in an attempt to find a way for them not to fight when Garmadon never wanted to fight his own son. Kai clearly hated him at first but Garmy will admit he did purposely tease Kai as much as he could when they meet on the bounty. Kai was so adorable when he was mad, he was something similar to a tsundere, something Nya mentioned.

He surely would spoil Kai more now, knowing the pregnancy will had more effects on the young adult then him. He didn't have to impregnate Kai, he could have recreated Lloyd or attempt to revive him with some kind of potion. However he knew Kai felt he cause Lloyd to do something so drastic, from how reckless Kai was around Lloyd when he had mentor his son. The young adult seemed happy knowing he was going to have his friend back.

“...I guess I got lucky I have you.” Garmadon softly whispered as he kissed Kai's head, noticed the brunette had fell asleep on him. He smiled as he watched the sleeping beauty on him, his chest moving up and down. Garmy softly placed his hand on Kai's stomach, feeling the small bump almost feeling a small kick.

“I love you...Kai”
