yay I finally remembered to actually write the information page!

So basically, yes. Writing contest. There's not really an occasion, I just feel like it :)

I got a lot of good ideas for prompts and it was hard to pick one, but ultimately I decided on a prompt inspired by the suggestion from RavenSpiritLin. It's a little cliché, but it's a super fun prompt in my opinion. Some of you have probably written with this idea before, but it provides a lot of opportunity for variety and it's one of my personal favorites.

PROMPT:

You or your OC fall into your favorite book (or movie, TV show, video game, etc.) universe. The actual protagonist of said universe is nowhere to be found, and it falls to you to take their place.

LENGTH:

Oneshot. I don't really care how long said oneshot is. Take however many words you need for your character to do whatever you want them to do.

JUDGING:

As previously mentioned, I'm a judge. But if I consider you a close friend, don't think you'll win just because you're my friend. If you're interested in judging as well, PM me, but just know that you can't enter the contest if you judge.

I will be judging based on narrative, description, editing, and obviously creativity - how you twist the cliché into your own style.

PLACEMENT:

depends on how many entries there are.
1-3 entries: 1st place
4-6 entries: 1st and 2nd place
7-9 entries: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
10+ entries: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and some honorable mentions
I'm not expecting there to be more than ten entries, though (Hint hint this is your cue to prove me wrong /j)

PRIZES:

Winners will get... drumroll please... bragging rights lol

TIME LIMIT:

Ah, yes. The dreaded question: how long do I have to write this thing? Entries will be due on February 29 (leap day hehe). That gives you about a month. If your entry is a couple days late, that's fine, just be reasonable. I'm not gonna accept a oneshot that comes two weeks after the end of the contest.

OTHER RULES:

I hope it goes without saying plagiarism is unacceptable. I'm trusting you not to steal another person's work for this.

Absolutely NO smut. Shipping is fine, though.

Make sure that there is a trigger warning at the top of your entry if it contains any content that could be triggering. This will not affect whether or not I read and judge your story (with the exception of smut)

Use an original character who you created and developed as your main character.

Please don't be offended if I don't know the world that you yeet your character into. I won't be judging it based on the world.

I will most likely be putting the links to the entries in another part of this story (with credit to the authors, of course). If you are not comfortable with that, let me know and I won't put yours on there. I'll still give you credit as a participant, I'll still put your name there, I just will leave the link to the story out of it.

Ping me at the beginning of your entry. It can be a part of a oneshot book or it's own individual book, as long as you follow all the guidelines listed above.

Failure to follow these rules will result in worse placement and/or disqualification from the contest.
