Untitled Part 1
~LE BEL OCTOBRE~
This is the most beautiful October
That I can ever remember.
Actually, it is stunning,
Colorful, breathtaking,
inspirational
And I am truly thankful
To be here in this part
Of our lovely world
Where it is so peaceful.
The towering aspens
Are amassed with golden leaves.
Our mountain ash recently began
Shedding its leaves but the clumps
Of bright red berries resemble
Tree ornaments as they cling
Desperately to the branches.
The sole, majestic maple out back
Steadfastly holds onto its brilliant
Golden leaves until the bitter end
When the biting, north winds and
Cruel frosts will compete to expose
And leave it naked to suffer
The northern winter's harshness
Our apple orchard is aglow,
My Finnish rose bush
That I recently planted
Giving a final growth spurt
Has delighted me with its
New branches obscured
By thumb-nail size leaves,
In glorious shades of crimson.
The richest tones of amber
I can ever recall on our property.
Wow! Such wondrous sights!
I believe that our unusually warm
September was a gift that opened
Our sleepy eyes to what was already
Here but needed a touch up
Of paint to remind each one of us
Of our inherently picturesque surroundings
But, oh dear! I'm so spoiled now!
How will I ever cope with the
Dreariness of nondescript November
Always looking over my shoulder?
I'm dreading the first, mushy
Snowfalls but must remember
Soon it will be festive December.

A/N The inspiration for this poem came from my dear
friend/poetess, Lisa ( lisaner) who composed the beautiful poem,
Warm Winds, which she dedicated to me. I continue to miss her dearly
as the years go by. She set such a fine example with her contributions
to Wattpad that I consider her to be one of the best role models that I
have known on this site. I wish to reciprocate by dedicating this composition to Lisa .
Even after eight years I still miss Lisa terribly. She had such a unique style of writing . .
that I always enjoyed reading her work. God bless you, LIsa. October 19, 2024
My dear Lisa, my memory of you will never fade.
Your beauty is as vivid as the fall leaves I have portrayed.
Nothing in this world will ever persuade me to delete
This piece from my autumn poem parade.
