Personality and Character Analysis: Ginger Xal (also known as Ginger Simmons) is socially awkward and blunt, partially due to her extremely high intelligence quotient, but she is also empathetic and deeply moved by human struggle. Every day is an adventure for her and she infinitely curious. She is also accepting,  open-minded, and wise. Despite her intelligence, she is socially naive and can sometimes be easy to manipulate. She is also stoic and can be emotionally unavailable. She is a loyal friend with a desire to help people, even if emotions confuse her.

Character Arc: Ginger Xal was born on the planet Colu during the overpopulation crisis. Her parents, along with many others in her species, were drained of their intelligence, an act that she considered to be a form of genocide. Her parents were rendered disabled and unable to take care of her, so she grew up taking care of them.
  Fed up with the treatment from her higher ups over decades, Ginger tried to rebel by hacking their systems. She succeeded, but was caught and sentenced to death. She managed to escape narrowly and make a life for herself undercover on Earth as a biomedical scientist.
  Ginger met Dick in her human disguise, when she was in a restaurant and a creepy man tried to hit on her. He swooped in to save her by pretending to be her boyfriend. Being the logical person that she was, she didn't understand what he was doing and accused him of being a creep as well. The creepy man didn't back off, so Dick was forced to physically fight him off.
  Afterward, Dick offered to drop Ginger off somewhere safe. She thanked him and accepted the offer. They continued to run into each other and began to enjoy each other's company more and more. When she felt like she could trust him, she told him what she really was, expecting him to leave, but he stayed.
When she realized that she was physically attracted to him, she bluntly told him this and asked if he was interested in physical relationship.
  He told her honestly that he had a long list of exes and that he had a hard time commiting to people, but he wanted to connect with her emotionally first. He admitted that he actually had feelings for her, but she didn't have to return those feelings. She told him that she did, too, even if she wasn't sure, and would like to be with him as well.
  Unfortunately, she had a difficult time processing her own emotions as well as his, and she was emotionally unavailable throughout most of their relationship. He eventually opened up to her about this. She felt guilty and thought that he deserved better, but she didn't know how to express it. Instead, she broke up with him, even though he wanted to work things out.
  She reunited with him years later when he and his team needed her help and made amends.
