Chapter Fifteen
After dinner, G.G grinned at Jade in a way that made Jade uneasy. Meadow and Duncan had already left the ballroom and headed up stairs so that Duncan could put up his leg in bed. Lawson looked in amusement from G.G back to Jade.
"Uh, what?" Jade asked, screwing the cap closed on her second water bottle.
"It's time..." she rubbed her hands together gleefully.
Lawson laughed, got up, and placed a kiss on the top of Jade's head. "Have fun."
G.G pointed at him. "You need to update your profile, mister."
"I did last month!"
"Do it again!" G.G countered.
Lawson ran a hand through his hair. "Yeah, okay, but I need to talk to dad first."
G.G waved him away, "You have plenty of time."
Libby showed up at the table and handed both Jade and G.G a tablet. She sat down in the chair Lawson vacated and set a third tablet in front of her.
"Yes! You're doing it with us!" G.G said doing a little dance in her chair.
Libby shrugged, "Why not."
Jade frowned, "Can someone explain what's going on? I'm so confused. In fact, I have been all day."
G.G looked at her sympathetically. "I'm sorry. We can be overwhelming. But I wanted to talk to you about this more privately as some people in this family just joke about it and it's not a joke."
"Okay, so what is it?"
"About two years ago, I was doing my thesis project for my psychology degree and I came up with...well, primarily, it's a dating website."
Jade's jaw dropped. "Seriously, and you want me to..." she looked at the tablet.
"It's not your typical dating website though. It is similar to some in that it does ask you a lot of questions about yourself and what you're looking for in a partner. But it goes much, much, deeper than most of those sites. I ask anything and everything. I also look into what attracts you physically. There are comparison photos of different eye colors, eye shape, noses, arms, legs, torsos, etc. Both in parts and photos of actual whole people. You're not going to finish with the website today. For most people, it takes a week, sometimes more. It's very extensive."
"Wow," Jade bit her lip nervously thinking about what kinds of questions there could be.
"When you're done, we'll do a one-on-one interview. Some of it will be the same questions, others will be different. But I'll be able to see how you really react to the questions, what you're hesitant on answering, what makes you blush, etc."
Jade blushed at that and rubbed her cheeks. "Well, that's, um, great. But I'm with Lawson, so I don't really need a dating website matching me with someone."
Libby grinned, "Lawson's on the site also. Don't you want to know if you're a match?"
Did she? The thought of not being matched with Lawson terrified her just as much as being matched did. And did she really want some dating site to tell her if she and Lawson were compatible or not? So far, they'd been getting along great. If she didn't matched to him, would she over think it and break up with someone that she truly liked just because a website told her to?
A hand on her arm startled her from her thoughts. "It's not life or death," G.G smiled at her reassuringly. "I can already tell you and Lawson are an amazing couple together. I don't need some test to tell me that. From what he's told me about you, and how he looks at you, and you look at him...you guys fit. I know you do. If you don't want to do it, I totally understand. But, please, no matter what, don't over think things about Lawson. It's pretty simple to me. He likes you and you like him. There's nothing wrong with staying in the moment and enjoying it as things happens. Nothing in life is a guarantee. Even my matchmaking."
Jade nodded. "Thanks. I think...I think I'll try it."
Author note: Sorry for the delay in adding more chapters, my degenerated disc disease has been brutal this year and I've been in a ton of pain. I hope to get more chapters up soon!
