It had been years since you and L had been to whammies so you finished your cases and took the first flight back to England. Due to bad timing, you arrived at midnight that night so when you walked back into the orphanage, it was dead silent and full of sleeping kids. You sat by L on the floor as you both went though your luggage, spring out your clothes on the floor of the main room. You had both thrown random things into bags when you left because of the short notice flight so your stuff was all mixed up. His jeans were in your bag and your shirts were in his.

"I've missed this place" you said.

"So have I" L sighed.

"It still smells like home..."

"What dies home smell like exactly?"

"Chocolate, jam and sandal wood"

"Did you just being Mello and Beyond into this?" L laughed.

"Maybe" you replied.

Suddenly you heard something from down the hall, crying.

"Do you hear that?" You asked.

"One of the little kids must have had a bad dream" L said.

"Poor thing"

Just when you said that, you heard the floor boards creek and the a door open. You kept quiet as you heard footage creep down toward your direction.

You looked over to the hall and saw a little girl with a teddy bear standing by the wall with tears running down her cheeks. She looked about 3 or 4 and wore a pink night gown.

"Are you ok?" You asked.

She shook her head.

You beckoned for her to come over, she did hesitantly come over and sat next to you.

"What's wrong?" You asked putting a hand on her shoulder.

"I had a nightmare..." she said rubbing her eyes "I usually go see Near but he's asleep... so I went looking for one of the big kids..."

You handed her a box of tissues and she wiped away her tears.

"What did you dream about?"

"There were monsters chasing me and I couldn't run very fast..."

"Aww, poor thing"

You wrapped your arms around the little girl and hugged her gently. She hugged you back slowly calmed down.

"Are you L?" She said pointing to the raven haired boy on the other side of you.

"Yes, the last time I saw you you were only 3 months old" he smiled.

"You've met her?" You asked.

"Yeah, before the Hollywood murders I came to visit and met all the new kids, doubt they'd remember me. You were working on that hacker case"

"I remember that"

"Are you (y/n)?" The girl said.

"Yep, you've heard of me?" You said.

"Yeah! Everyone's heard of you! You and L are the coolest people ever!" The girl said getting happier.

"I just realised I never caught your name" L added.

"I'm Alison. But my code name is Addy"

She jumped out of your arms and sat in between you and L.

"I thought you had cases, why are you here?" Addy asked.

"We wanted to visit and take a brake from all the detective work" L said.

"How long will you be here?" She asked.

"Probably a month or so" you said.

"YAY! I get to hang out with my heroes!"

You and L exchanged looks that screamed 'this is adorable!'

"So you mentioned Near before, how old is he now?" L asked.

"He's 5. You know him?"

"He's one of our successors" you added.

"Cool! He's my bestie, but I think he's cute..."

HOLY SHIT THIS GIRL HAS A CRUSH! TOO CUTE.

"Mello is kind of cute too but he likes Matt"

"KNEW IT!" You exclaimed.

You and L high-fived, you'd thought that for years but never got any evidence.

"Do you like Near?" You asked.

"Yeah... I want to be like you and L! I heard Roger and Watari talking about how L gave you a bouquet of strawberries and said he loved you on your birthday!"

You looked up at L with a red face and saw he looked pretty much the same.

"News sure does spread around the orphanage fast"
