You woke up on a Saturday morning hugging your L toy, you didn't remember falling asleep with it, but you did vaguely remember a dream. You must have grabbed it in you sleep while you were dreaming. Today was your birthday but you didn't want to do anything or celebrate because you just don't like socialising. Your parents had sent over a present from where they were staying overseas, so you got up and went into the lounge room taking your L you with you, where the neatly wrapped present sat on the coffee table, you opened it and saw a whole stack of manga. Just what you wanted. You smiled and read the card along with it.

Dear (y/n)

So sorry we couldn't be over for your birthday, but while we were out one day we saw a manga shop and bought a stack for you. We will come and see you in a few weeks we promise. You may be living in your own but you're still our baby girl.

You put the card aside and stacked the manga into your shelf, you flopped back onto the floor and hugged your L toy tightly.

"Damn it would be amazing if you were real..." you mumbled to yourself.

Just then you saw a lightning strike outside with a huge bang.

"TITANS BETTER NOT BE A THING ON MY BIRTHDAY!" You said getting up and running out the front to make sure there was no fire.

There wasn't a fire but there was something else, something with what looked like wings, and it was holding something else. You stood in disbelief at the sight before you.

"Man, switching worlds is dramatic"

That voice... you'd heard it before.

The creature laughed as the smoke drifted away. And there before you, stood a shinigani, with a scared L in his hands.

"Well there you go L,, this is the kid you've been watching"

You felt like fainting. Did ryuk just come and drop L in your front yard. How could you see him without touching the Death Note? How was any of this even possible?

"Wha-" was all you could say.

"That actually worked?" L said to the shinigami.

"Yeah, its shinigami magic duh" Ryuk replied.

"Uhhh..."

"I think you broke her"

L walked over to you and tilted his head in confusion.

"Are you ok?"

"WHAT JUST-" you were cut off by L putting a finger against your lips.

"I'll explain in a minute, but to you have any apples?"

You nodded slowly and went inside to grab one, you came back out and threw it to Ryuk who caught it in one go.

"Thanks kid, see ya L"

And off he flew.

L pulled you into your house and kicked the door closed on the way, he sat you down on your sofa and sat opposite you.

"You're aware that once people die they go to nothingness?"

You nodded.

"Well nothingness is like the shinigami realm, boring and bland. But you can watch other worlds, so I decided to watch you once you caught my eye. And when I found out about your love for the anime that takes place in my world, I thought my birthday present yo your could be me" he explained.

Your mouth dropped open. He literally gave himself as a present. Before you could say or do anything, you felt his arms wrap around you and your head be pushed gently into his chest. You sat there shocked for a moment before feeling your eyes tear up. You wrapped your arms around him and smiled as tears ran down your face.

"That's the best birthday present ever!" You sobbed happily.

"I thought you might say that"

"Are you going to stay?"

"Yes. For as long as you desire my love"

You died a little inside. On top of him staying forever, he just called you 'my love'.

"Please stay forever" you said burying your face into his shirt.

"Then forever I'll stay"
