It was one of those days, one of those days where L refused to sleep. You had do get him to sleep or he'd fall asleep on the desk when the case is at a high.

"L go to sleep" you said.

"I have work" he replied.

"Sleep is more important than work L"

"This is the Kira case"

"But I care about your health. Now go to bed"

"You know I won't fall asleep" he replied.

"The I'll help you" you said.

He tilted his head in confusion as to how exactly you were going to make him sleep. You grabbed his arm and dragged him down the hall to his room. You shoved him into the bathroom to put on some pyjamas as you fluffed the pillows and brushed down the blankets.  He came out in his usual white shirt and grey sweatpants. For once in his life he wore something different, wow.

You sat him on the bed and forced him to lie down, pulling the blankets over him and sitting at the end of the bed.

"I'm not leaving until you're asleep" you said turning off the lamp.

"That could take a while" he said.

"Listen L, just relax. Calm your mind and listen to the sound of my voice ok?" You said.

You took a deep breath and began to sing and old lullaby you used to get sung to you.

You continued this song twice until you stopped to rest your voice for a moment, you looked down at L, why by now was almost completely asleep.

You brushed the fringe away from his eyes and smiled down at him.

"Get some sleep..." you said.

You stood up to leave but a hand grabbed yours and didn't let go. You turned to see the half asleep L had taken your hand into his and not let go.

"Stay..." he said barely beyond a whisper.

You smiled and crawled in next to him.

"Keep singing..."

"Ok..."

You ran your fingers though his hair and began to sing again.

You kept playing with his hair as you sang watching him drift to sleep.

He was out like a light with his hand still holding onto yours as you finished the song.

You smiled at the sight of L sleeping peacefully before you.
