Reader POV

It's been hours since work started, where's L? He hasn't answered his phone and no ones seen him.

"Um... Work on whatever, I'm going to look for L" I said picking up my car keys and waking out of HQ. I jumped in the car and thought for a moment. Where would he be? I'll check his house. I drive down the street and tossed up what he might be up to in my head. Maybe he's sick or hurt? Maybe he's overslept for once in his life? Maybe he's catching up with the guys from Whammy's? Soon enough I made it to his house and knocked on the door. No response. I put my ear to the door and heard something? What was it. The door was locked. Damn. I looked around and checked under the doormat. A spare key as I suspected.

I unlocked the door and quietly closed it behind me.

"Law-Law?" I called out.

I got no response but I did hear something.

"Lawlipop?" I said in a more confused tone.

I walked around his house and listened against all the doors, finally I got to his room and leaned against the door. That's when I heard it. Crying. Was L Lawliet actually crying? The L? He barley shows emotion...

I quietly opened the door and saw him curled up in a dark corner only his computer light was on. The rest of the room was pitch black.

"Lawliet?"

I saw him look up at me with red, teary, bloodshot eyes.

"W-what are you doing here?" He asked.

"I came looking for you because you didn't show up to work, we were all really worried" I said walking over to him.

"What's wrong?"

"I don't know" he said.

"I do, you've been bottling up all your emotions and they're finally coming out, now just talk to me, what's wrong?"

He wiped his eyes and hung his head.

"The whole world is counting on me, this is the first time I've ever put my life in the line, I don't want to die, I'm too scared. Everyone sees me as L the world famous detective, but it's all just a mask, I'm just Lawliet. I'm not perfect..."

It was so wired to L like this, he's never shown emotion to anyone, this must b so new for him. All the peer pressure and stress must have finally gotten to him.

I crawl over next to him and put and arm around his shoulders. He sniffs and rested his head against my shoulders.

"The truth is. I'm terrified of Light. I know he's Kira, I just know it! But... All my deductions are leading no where and the thought I could drop dead at any moment is... Too much" he sobbed.

I pulled him into a comforting hug and gave him a tight squeeze.

"No matter what happens, I'll always be here for you, I'll make sure you make it out of this alive, I promise" I said.

"Promise?" He asked.

I pulled away and put my hands on his shoulders.

"I promise in my life, I won't let anything happen to you"

I quickly kissed his forehead and hugged him again.

"Just remember I love you ok?"
