You were always a horrible sleeper, as if insomnia wasn't enough, you also had really bad lucid dreams, well- nightmares. So you always tried to stay awake as work. Too bad you have a night shift with L today. Keeping an eye in Kira is no easy task. And it makes everything harder when you're dead tired. No matter how hard you tried today was just one of those rare days you actually slept.

"What? Where am I?"

You heard faint screams and flames crackling behind you. And when you turned, you almost had a heart attack. Your house was on fire, your family inside.

"MUM, DAD! NO!" You screamed, running toward the burning building. Tears running down your cheeks. As you approached the house, it collapsed. Fell in and burnt your parents alive.

You dropped to you knees and started screaming, tears streaming down your face. You felt a pain in your gut from all the crying.

And that's when you heard him.

"I win..."

Kira.

"AHHHH!" You screamed as you woke up and broke out in tears.

L turned in his chair at the sound of your screams and rushed over.

"(Y/n)?!"

That's exactly how your parents died, and having constant nightmares about it doesn't help your emotional state.

Heavy sobs shook you body and you cried at the memory. The whole reason you joined this case was to catch Kira and get revenge. You could hardly breathe because of your crying.

"(Y/n) deep breaths" L said.

You took three deep breaths, you were still crying but it eased up the sobs.

"Now tell me what happened"

"Well, I just had a really bad lucid flash back dream of my parents death and Kira was there, I didn't see him but I could hear him" you said in a small, sad tone.

"I'm sorry about your loss, but just remember their in a better place now and we will catch Kira and justice will prevail" L said pulling you into a tight hug.

Your tears soaked through his shirt as you hugged him but he didn't care, he just wanted to make sure you're ok.

"You've had a rough couple of days, I can take the rest of the night shift, you get some sleep" he said.

"No, I have to-"

"(Y/n), you need it" he said.

"Ok" you sighed, wiping the tears from your eyes.

He want back to his spot on the sofa in front of the screens and patted the seat beside him, you walked over and sat next to him, he wrapped a blanket around you and put an arm around your shoulders.

"Just get some sleep, it's all going to be ok"

You nodded and let darkness take over.

All night you were stirring, and because you fell asleep on L's shoulder, it was kind if annoying for him. And he felt really bad for you.

Solution? Easy. L ended up cradling you in his arms all night as he watched the security tapes and cameras.

By 7 am you were still fast asleep and it was about time for the rest if the force to arrive.

"L, good-" Mutuda said as he walked in with the rest if the police force, only to be cut off by L shushing him.

The task force were confused and came over to look. What they saw was you, asleep and cradled up in L's arms, snuggled up in the blankets and gripping into L's shirt with one hand and your face buried in his chest.

"She had a really rough night, she needs the sleep be quiet" L whispered.

The task force nodded in understanding and set to work.

L looked down at you in your sleeping state. And though to himself.

'God, she's actually really cute...Aaannnddd I've fallen for her'
