"VRINDA'S POV "

Yawning and getting up from my bed, stretching my arms, I looked out from the balcony of my room. New York City at Christmas time looks etheral. Bustling streets, snowfalls and warm gingerbread aromas all around.

I love States. And New York is my most favorite city in States. Completing my law graduation and masters from Harvard I recently shifted here. And I was having it all. A loving family back in India, a best friend who loves me more then life and of course a boy friend who loves me the most. One of the reasons I always wanted to run to New York to end this long distance with him and settle with him finally.

Going back inside washroom, I brushed and washed my face looking into the mirror.

That's me. Vrinda Shah.

And right now I'm too lazy to bath but I have to because I've to shop for Christmas and of course I've a surprise date for my boyfriend tonight.

What can be more good then proposing him for marriage at a Christmas night.

Right!!

I chuckled at my own thoughts thinking about Rehaan. Rehaan Sehgal, my boyfriend and a lawyer working in the best law firm of NY.

As I took my bath robe and was entering bathroom, my phone rang and I looked at the caller ID . A smile automatically appeared on my face.

"Vriii !" My best friend Anjali screamed over call.

"Whattt" I screamed back and we shared a chuckle.

"You can't imagine what happened right now" She exasperated

"Jeez woman. Calm down and then speak" I said but she paused and I saw her video calling me.

I smiled picking up and she grinned then showed me her left hand.

"What.... Fucking Goodnesssss. Anjaaliiii" I screamed jumping and she laughed as I saw her adorning a diamond in ring finger.

"Neil proposed few minutes back. I can't literally tell you how happy I am" She was overwhelmed with joy and happy glistening eyes and so was I.

"I can see it Anjali. I'm so happy for you that I can't even speak" I grinned at her.

"Baby, here" A voice from phone came and I looked at Anjali and chuckled.

"Baby, you're being called. Tell Neil Congrats from my side too. And tell him, I need a good party" I said

"Let's celebrate tonight." Neil spoke holding Anjali by shoulders as he came on screen.

"Neil. You finally did it my boy" I grinned and he chuckled nodding.

"But no. Not tonight. I'm gonna do what you've done some time back" I winked and he raised a brow.

"Propsing Rehaan" He asked and I nodded smiling.

"That's amazing Vri . Okay then tomorrow for sure. We'll celebrate together" Anjali said and I nodded.

"Great then I'll see you tomorrow. Bye" I told and cut the call.

Going inside this time, I took a warm shower and got ready in a turtle neck sweater and pants and taking my overcoat and scarf, I wore my boots, took my purse and car keys going out of my apartment.

"Well, isn't that Vrinda " I heard a voice and turned to look at the woman.

"Zara. Hey" I smiled waving at her and went towards her.

Zara was one of my very good friend, my senior at law school.

And we were basically neighbours too.

"Where to ? " She asked

"Ah, just breakfast and some shopping. You wanna join" I asked.

"Ah no. I've to visit my parents today" She told and I nodded.

"So, have you applied to any firms" She asked

"Yep. I've applied to some. And I'm eagerly waiting for the results. I hope it's Rehaan's. " I crossed my fingers for the best.

"Hey, that's my firm too " She told and I chuckled

"Yep. Yours too. Okay, I gotta go. See ya" I said and went out.

Taking out my car from the apartment parking I drove to the market nearby picking some fresh veggies and fruits.

Then driving to the supermarket I picked up the groceries and had my breakfast at a local cafe before heading back to my apartment.

As I reached back, I firstly called Rehaan and he picked after some rings.

"Hey baby. What you doing" I asked

"Hey love. Just some work" He said and I smiled like a teenager at the notion.

" So well, where are we going tonight" I asked

"Um, may be we can't anywhere. I've got work issues" He said and it was like all my excitement died.

"What. Why. Who the hell works on Christmas vacation . It's public holiday since days here" I whined

"I know right. But there's a case I've been handling. It's important. Can't leave that in middle" He said

"But you can do it tomorrow morning Rehaan. It's.. Our day" I mumbled

"I know baby. I promise I'll compensate for it . Just not possible today" He said and I sighed.

"Okay. No problem. Work first" I told

"That's what I love about you. Work first" He repeated and I sighed yet hummed.

"I lo.. " Before I could say he hung up.

Sighing I threw my phone on the couch and slumped there.

"Well, guess you've to wait" I said to no one while looking at my over coat which had the ring.

Well what if this has been cancelled. I had one more thing to celebrate hence I picked out my phone and texted Anjali.

Plan's on for tonight. See you at River Cafe.

I texted and then taking my Mac book, I skyped at home first in India and then taking the Christmas tree outside the door, I started decorating it.

Thankfully getting help by the kids from the nearby apartment.

"So why do you like Christmas" The little girl asked.

"Christmas... Well.. I get to eat cakes and desserts" I said and they all chuckled followed by me.

"So what you gonna put tonight in your stocking" The other one asked

"It's a secret" I whispered

"You know I'm gonna ask Santa for a big teddy bear" The little Girl hushed in my ear

"Ugh. No ways. I'm gonna ask for latest video game" The boy said and I looked at both of them.

Typical fight between a little girl and boy.

"What about you Vrinda " They asked

"Um, I don't know. You tell me something" I asked

"Husband may be" The girl said and I looked at her and laughed.

"Honey, that anyways I'm gonna get in some days" I winked and she raised a brow.

Well she couldn't do it totally but she looked cute.

"Okay enough talks. Where's the star" I asked and the boy handed me the same and I put that on the top.

The Christmas tree lightened with the fairy lights and star and I smiled.

"I'll be back" I said and went inside and came back with two gift wraps.

"Merry Christmas" I grinned and they smiled widely.

"Merry Christmas" They sang and I chuckled as they got busy with their gifts while I prepared my lunch and had that.

It was evening already when I next saw and hence I got into my sweater dress and boots and wrapping myself in over coat, I took my bag and car keys and stepped out.

Locking my door, I drove to the restaurant and saw my best friend waiting for me.

"Wedding beellllzzz" I screamed and she laughed hugging me.

Why people have to look at us as if they've seen ghosts. We just screamed in happiness, you can continue your silent food affair.

"I'm so so happy for you both" I added and they smiled.

"Let's get inside. It's so cold. And I'm hungry as hell" I said

"When you're not. " Anjali mocked

"Oh shut up" I said and we all laughed as we went to our table.

"What happened to your plan tonight" Neil asked

"Rehaan is busy. Cancelled " I said a bit sad.

"Always busy " Anjali muttered

"Anjali.. " I started when she spoke.

"Yeah, yeah fine. He must be very busy. Understood" She said raising her hands and I sighed.

Well, Rehaan and Anjali have never liked each other too much. I guess they both bear each other because of me.

"So what about your job now" Neil asked as our order came.

"I've applied to three biggest firms of NY. Let's see what happens" I told

"But you've always wanted to work in the one" Anjali said

"Yes I want to. But we can't predict on our choice right. I don't wanna take risk by applying in just one firm and not getting anything in hand . Hence I've applied to all three of them. Because we all know how hard it is to get into AK Law Firm. It's The Biggest" I said pressing the last two words.

The dream of every single lawyer.

"And you're that. You've fought the cases of your internship period and you've proved yourself. " Neil boosted my confidence and I smiled.

"Just don't tell me the reason for getting into AK is Rehaan" He added

"What no not at all. I mean it's a plus point but I've done it for myself solely" I cleared

"Good. Then take my help. Let me talk to the boss" He said when I glared him.

"Fine fine. He won't. " Anjali declared

"I wanna do it on my own. I want to challenge myself" I said and he smiled.

"You do it sisso. Because I see one of the most fierce lawyer NY will be having soon" He spoke and I smiled as we had our soup.

"I'm just waiting to recieve an answer back for my E-mails . Let's hope for the best" I told and they nodded.

"So planning the wedding here or in India" I asked

"India" They both said in unison and I chuckled.

"Perfect. I too am missing mom- dad and Jay. They didn't visit me this year neither could I. I'm waiting now for you both to move your asses for wedding so that I can also go to India" I said

"Yes madame. Anything else" Anjali asked and I smirked.

"So tell me why did you cut the call early today. I actually saw something on your bed when in morning you called." I wriggled my brows smirking.

"Shut up. Don't make my personal space your crime scene " She said and I smirked more.

"Clearing my doubts my Lord . Well, do use that proof which I saw till wedding atleast. We don't want uncle and aunty to actually disown you before wedding " I winked and Neil laughed while Anjali stuffed my mouth with some pasta .

After a while we completed our dinner while celebrating the couple with some cake and red wine.

"Guys. I'll be back. I need to use restroom" I said and they nodded where as I stood up and went towards rest room.

As I used the washroom and came out walking towards my table, I bumped into someone.

"Oh I'm sor.. " I was saying but the man unaffected moved away.

"Rude. I was saying sorry " I said turning but it was like it went to deaf ears.

"Walk next time with eyes up rather then floor" That rude man spoke without looking back and walked away.

Rudest man Ever !!

And I turned walking back but before that I saw someone else coming out of the rest room and what I saw shocked me from head to toe.

A couple was kissing their guts out... Wrong word... Making out, and it was none other then my boyfriend Rehaan Sehgal with my friend... Zara.

What The Actual Fuck!!

And just then the bell rang. It was 12 am.

Wow!!
