Chapter 7

Laurel smiled as she woke up the following morning feeling like a certain itch that had been driving her crazy for the past few years had finally been scratched and while at first she was concerned when she felt that she was alone in bed, she smiled when she heard the sound of the shower roaring and remembered that Ollie had always been an early riser, at least after his tour in the military and she smiled as she saw him exit their now shared bathroom, with only a towel wrapped around his waist.

"Hey, how did you sleep?" Oliver asked her and Laurel smiled.

"Better than I have in years. Though I do wish you would have woken me up before you got in the shower. I would've been more than happy to join you." Laurel said with a smile, which Oliver returned.

"Really, I thought you'd still be tired from last night." Oliver said and Laurel smiled as she looked around to see their clothes from the previous night still scattered all over the floor and remembered last night.

"We've got five years worth to make up for. No point in wasting time." Laurel said and Oliver chuckled.

"Later, don't you need to get ready to drop Jasmine off at school, since we both agreed that it's a bit too soon for me to be taking over some of those responsibilities quite yet and then you need to get to work." Oliver said, since Laurel worked for a non for profit law firm called CNRI, which was short for City Necessary Resources Initiative, which was a law firm located in the Glades that provided legal services to the low income residents there. In fact, Laurel was next in line to run the firm after her current boss retired.

"Speaking of which, what exactly are you planning on doing for work, since I don't want you to just go back to relying on your trust fund, since that sets a bad example for Jasmine." Laurel said.

"Actually, I was thinking about doing something similar to what you're doing, only instead of a law firm, I'm thinking of opening up a community center in the Glades. A safe place for kids to go after school, so they can play sports, hang out, a safe space to help them stay out of the system." Oliver said and Laurel smiled.

"I think that is a great idea. It's about time a one percenter started paying attention to the Glades. After all, the people there are just as much a part of this city as the rest of us." Laurel said.

"Agreed. I'm just trying to figure out how to convince my mother of that, since we both know how she feels about the people in the Glades." Oliver said, since right now Moira was the CEO of Queen Consolidated and she had no love for the Glades, which was a problem, since Oliver couldn't fund something like this off of his trust fund and while he knew that a non for profit would likely get some federal assistance, to make the center everything he wanted it to be, he'd need the money from his family's company to fund it.

"I'm sure you'll figure something out. Maybe try to get the rest of the board on your side by calling it a PR stunt or something so that they can outvote Moira on it, since sadly, you lost your shares of the company after you were declared dead." Laurel said.

"Even so, I didn't have enough of them to really have much influence in the company, especially after I rejected what my parents viewed as my rightful place at the company. But I guess I should take advantage of Thea being home, since maybe she can help me structure my proposal." Oliver said.

"You know she'll give you a lot of crap for asking for help like that." Laurel said.

"Maybe, but at least I'll get to spend some time with my little sister before she goes back to school." Oliver said.

"Still, I feel like even with Thea's help, what you're trying to do is going to be an uphill battle until she takes the reins." Laurel said.

"Maybe, but at least I can try, but now you should really start getting ready for the day." Oliver said and Laurel nodded reluctantly, knowing that he was right as she got out of bed to start her day.

Later on that day found Oliver back at the Queen Mansion, where he was picking Thea up for lunch before she went back to school and while they ate, he told her about his plans.

"Look Ollie, I think it's a great idea and if I were running QC, I'd immediately greenlight the funding for it, but unfortunately mom's the one in charge she has too many board members in her pocket to ever greenlight the funding for it and even after I graduate, I'm not ready to take over the company yet." Thea said and Oliver sighed, since he'd figured she'd say something like that, but still, it didn't hurt to ask.

"Well, I guess that I'll have to find another way to fund this clinic." Oliver said and Thea smiled.

"Well, you could always try looking at Queen Consolidated's competitors, like off the top of my head, Wayne Enterprises." Thea said quickly.

"Not a bad idea, but you came to that conclusion very quickly and even though I've been gone for a while, I can still tell when you're hiding something Speedy. What is it?" Oliver asked, since could tell that they were getting to the real reason Thea had asked to have this lunch with him.

"I see you're still as sharp as ever. I met someone while I was at school." Thea said.

"So, when do I get to introduce this guy to my gun collection?" Oliver asked and Thea took a deep breath.

"Actually, it's a she." Thea said, taking Oliver aback.

"Wait, what?" Oliver asked, not harshly, just out of surprise.

"Yeah, her name is Helena. Helena Wayne. She's the daughter of Bruce Wayne and she's studying law at Hudson University, which is where I met her. We were roommates freshman year and things just kind of developed from there." Thea said.

"So, you're." Oliver asked.

"Gay, I don't know, maybe I'm bi, but what I do know is that what I feel for Helena, I think it's the same thing you feel for Laurel. I love her, but I haven't told her that yet, since I wanted to come out to my family first before I did." Thea said and Oliver smiled.

"So you're happy with her?" Oliver asked.

"Honestly, she's the only thing that's brought me real happiness since I thought you died." Thea confirmed.

"Then I'm happy for you Speedy and I want to meet her. Does mom know?" Oliver asked.

"Not yet. I was still working up to the courage to come out to her when I found out you were alive and when I did, I knew I wanted you to be the first one I came out to and yes, you can tell Laurel, since I think she already suspects, having gone through this with her sister too, but will you be there when I do come out to mom?" Thea asked her brother.

"I'm insulted you feel the need to ask. Of course I will. And please ask Helena to reach out to her dad to see if he's interested in helping fund my project, since honestly, considering the fact that Wayne Enterprises is at least twice as big as Queen Consolidated, I might be able to take this to a larger scale." Oliver said and Thea smiled and nodded.

"I will and in case I haven't made it clear already, I'm really happy you're back." Thea said.

"So am I." Oliver said as they continued their lunch.

I know you were all probably expecting the traditional Thea/Roy pairing and I was originally going to go that route, but I decided that since I'm trying to make this series truly my own and I'm trying some new things out. I hope you like this twist and yes Roy will still appear in this series, just not as Thea's love interest.
