Chapter 58

"Are you ready for this Oliver?" Tatsu asked as they walked through the offices of Queen Consolidated, towards Oliver's new office as the new CEO of Queen Consolidated, since they'd announced that at a press conference prior to Moira's arrest going public.

"As ready as I can be. And are you sure you're okay with your new cover Tatsu? I know it's not what you signed up for." Oliver said to his old friend, who was wearing a business suit similar to his, since Tatsu's new cover was going to be as Oliver's personal bodyguard, while John had taken a job as the head of Queen Consolidated's security in general.

"It won't be too different from when we first met, except this time we're both here on our own free will. Plus, I have rent to pay and I know that Laurel feels more comfortable with having someone of my skill watching your back that she won't have to worry about trying to sleep with you, since while she knows you'd never betray her like that, that doesn't mean that she doesn't trust others to try and tempt you." Tatsu said and Oliver nodded, since that didn't surprise him, since Laurel had always been territorial over what was her's. Even when they were kids.

When they arrived at the door, Oliver took a deep breath before he opened it and embraced his new life as a corporate CEO. Something that he'd never wanted to be, but knew that he had too, since right now, he was the only candidate the board would back right now and that if he didn't do it, who knew what would happen to his family's company.

Thankfully, before he'd taken this job, Bruce had given him some tips on how to not only be a successful CEO, but also how to balance being the CEO of Queen Consolidated with being the Green Arrow, since it had taken him awhile to get it down, and Oliver couldn't exactly ask Kara, since her powers likely made it easier for her to balance her life as a CEO and as a superhero.

When he opened the door, he found that the office had already been cleared of his mother's belongings had already been cleared out and security had already brought a box of his own belongings and left it on the desk for him to set up as he pleased.

"Everything alright?" Tatsu asked Oliver, seeing the look on her friend's face.

"Yeah, it's just, I don't know, a part of me wishes that my dad was here, since I know that while working here was never really my dream, it was his to one day see me in this office and running the family company." Oliver admitted.

"We don't always get to see our families grow the way we want them to." Tatsu said sadly and Oliver realized how that might've sounded.

"Tatsu, I'm sorry if I was insensitive. You know no one blames me for what happened to Akio more than I do." Oliver said.

"And you shouldn't. It wasn't your fault. It was Shrieve's. You should've gotten a medal for what you did Oliver, but you never got the recognition you deserve." Tatsu said.

"You know why it was kept quiet and for once I agree with Waller's reasons, since if China had found out about what Shrieve did, it could've triggered a war between the US and China." Oliver reminded her.

"I know. And I also know that keeping it quiet will allow you to better maintain your cover, but still." Tatsu said.

"We both know that the end result of that mission didn't warrant a medal. And you should know that better than anyone, since it cost you more than it ever cost me." Oliver said and Tatsu nodded.

"The anniversary of Akio's death is coming up soon." Tatsu said and Oliver nodded.

"Have you talked to Maseo?" Oliver asked, even though he was pretty sure he knew the answer.

"No. He will not answer my calls and even if he did, I am uncertain I'd want to speak to him, since he is not the man I thought he was. He's a coward who ran from what happened, ran from me when I needed him the most. When we first met, I thought that you were the coward, the man that couldn't be trusted, that would abandon us when it got rough. But instead, you were the one who stayed by my side until I sent you away. You're a better man than Maseo ever was." Tatsu told him and Oliver smiled.

"Trust me, I plan on having a few words with Maseo over his choices if I ever see him again. Which is probably why he's staying away." Oliver said and Tatsu nodded.

"But anyways, we should get set up. You've got your own office outside mine across from my secretary's desk and I've given you and John full clearance to all branches of this facility and company to ensure that you can get in anywhere you need to. One of my plans as the CEO is to re-evaluate and update our security protocols." Oliver said.

"And you say you have no skill to be a CEO." Tatsu said with a chuckle.

"That was one of Bruce's tips. I'm still amazed that none of his enemies have tried to steal Wayne Tech." Oliver said.

"He runs a tight ship and I'm sure that you will too. But now, you should probably settle into your new office and prepare for your board meeting this afternoon." Tatsu said as she took her leave and left Oliver to settle in.
