P.S. This will be partially the same the original...

"GIVE HER HELL FROM US PEEVES!" the Weasley twins shouted as they flew away from Hogwarts. All the students were cheering as loud as they could, except for two. Lauren frowned at the twist in her stomach. Something bad was going to happen soon. Something really, really, bad. Harry was also silent. As he sank to the ground Lauren turned to see him.

"Harry," she whispered. She crouched down next to him as his eyes widened in fear. Lauren could tell that it was Voldemort. He was making Harry see something. Something bad. Maybe it was the very same thing that was making Lauren's stomach do a gymnastic routine. Finally he spoke. One word. One word that stopped Lauren's instincts. One word that drained the blood from her face and caused her heart to stop. One word that frightened her, the first thing she'd ever been truly scared of.

"Sirius." Harry whispered.

Later.....

"You must be joking." Hermione insisted. Lauren laughed anxiously.

"No," she retorted. "You must be joking if you think we're not going to go after him."

"It could be a trap." Hermione explained.

"And if it isn't?" Harry questioned. "He could die, Hermione. I can't let that happen." Lauren nodded in agreement.

"Sirius is the closest thing to a blood relative wither of us are going to get, and you expect us to sit back and relax because you think it might be a trap? Not happening. Not while I'm alive." she declared.

"We're going after him." Harry announced. "Anyone who wants to come is welcome."

The Department of Mysteries....

Harry, Lauren, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and Luna tightened their circle. The Death Eaters had surrounded them and Lucius Malfoy was trying to persuade Harry to hand over the prophecy. Then, a familiar laugh came from behind Lucius, and another Death Eater appeared. Next to Lauren, Neville stiffened.

"Bellatrix Lestrange." he said. She laughed.

"Neville Longbottom, is it? How's mum and dad?" she cackled.

"Better now that they're about to be avenged." he replied, holding up his wand. Lauren shot out a hand and stopped him.

"Don't." she whispered. Bellatrix's eyes widened and her evil grin grew.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't my dear cousin's little brat." she said. "I look forward to watching him cry over your dead corpse." All seven of them immediately turned their wands on Bellatrix.

"I think you will find that will be easier said than done." Hermione offered. Bellatrix laughed again.

"Now!" Harry shouted, and the seven yelled

"Stupefy!" at the Death Eaters before sprinting down the rows of prophecies. They ran until the Death Eaters caught up. But when Ginny's reducto spell caused the whole room to start collapsing, they sprinted through the door and fell.

They hit the ground with a thud. Harry stood up and saw an archway in the middle of the room, on a platform. Voices were coming from the arch, but he didn't know what they were saying. He looked up and told the others to get behind him. Then, the Death Eaters attacked. They were thrown to the ground and Harry's friends were grabbed, so when he stood up, they all had a Death Eater with a wand pointed at their throats.

"One last chance,"Lucius said to him. "Give me the prophecy, or watch your friends die." Harry spun around, looking at his friends. Lauren growled at the Death Eater and slowly reached for her knife. But before she could unsheathe it, a flash came from the room, and Sirius swaggered up to Lucius.

"Get away from my godson."he said. And he punched him in the face.

More flashes came as the order arrived. Lauren broke free from the Death Eater and ran towards the fighting. Tonks had grabbed the others and had put them out of the way. She ran towards Lauren, yelling at her to take cover, but Lauren wouldn't listen. Lauren started to fight a Death Eater instead. They fought for a few minutes before he disarmed Lauren. She watched as her wand jerked out of her hand and onto the floor. She turned back to the Death Eater and shrugged. Then she pulled out her knife and attacked. The Death Eater's eyes widened, as he was unprepared for a fight like this, but then he was blasted backwards and Lauren turned to see Mad-eye Moody standing behind her.

"I think you dropped something," he said, holding out her wand. She smiled, took it, and re-sheathed the knife.

Lauren ran over to Remus and helped him fight.

"Lauren!"he said. "Go back with the others!" Lauren shook her head.

"And let you have all the fun? Never." she said sarcastically.

"Lauren, you are going to get yourself killed. You're only a 3rd year! You don't know enough to fight Death Eaters." Lauren stopped, her eyes flaming. She growled and held up her wand.

"I'll have you know,"she began, shoving Remus out of the way. "that I was trained,"she continued, shooting a spell that froze the Death Eater like an ice sculpture. "in Dumbledore's Army." she said, shooting another spell, one that blew up the frozen Death Eater into pieces. She turned to Remus. "So I would appreciate it if you didn't underestimate my abilities."she finished. Remus stared at her and nodded.

Suddenly, Bellatrix's voice rang through the air.

"Avada Kevadra!" she yelled. Lauren whirled around just in time to see Sirius fall through the veil - and not come out the other side. There was a moment afterwards, when everything was silent. Everything was frozen. But then that moment ended. And Harry screamed.

Remus rushed over and grabbed Harry, preventing him from running into the veil after Sirius. Lauren's reaction, was a bit different. She stared at the veil without even seeing it, her eyes replaying Sirius's death. Then the knowledge that he was gone hit her. Hit her like a truck. She didn't even feel her legs give out from under her as she sank to the floor. She didn't feel anything at all. All she knew was that the world was collapsing around her and air didn't exist. Mad-eye came over to her.

"Lauren," he said, in the most gentle voice anyone had ever heard from him. She stared up at him, her eyes so full of grief and despair that it was painful to glance at her. But she didn't cry. She had too much regret and grief swallowing her for there to be the strength to cry. after Harry had ran away, Remus rushed over to Lauren. She didn't move. He studied her for a moment before checking to make sure she was breathing. She wasn't.

"Lauren," Remus whispered. Lauren glanced at him, at the pain in his eyes.

She wasn't the only one who's world was collapsing. The last friend that Remus Lupin had, had just died in front of his eyes. Out of Messr. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs, two were dead and the other was a traitor. he was the only one left. First James and Lily, then Anna, and now Sirius. The only thing he had left now was Harry and Lauren. A boy that the most powerful dark wizard wanted dead, and a girl so stricken by grief that she'd lost the ability to breath, left in the care of a broken werewolf.

Lauren stared at Remus, and finally the grief subsided enough for her to explode. She gasped and burst into tears. The sound of her cries was worse than Harry's screams. They were full of grief and despair, loss and heartbreak. Sirius was gone. The only living person Lauren considered to be her parent was dead. She was officially an orphan now. It really was true that you didn't know what you had until it was gone.

Days later....

They were back at school. Lauren had partially recovered from her loss, but she knew that the gap in her heart would never be filled. Her heart was torn in many places, with gaps for where her mother and Sirius used to be and it would only get more ragged and broken as she went along. But she wasn't alone. Colin would pass her little notes and muffins during the day. He was the first to coax a smile out of her, to let her believe that the sun would still rise and set. Marian and the others didn't treat her with pity or sympathy, which Lauren was grateful for. They understood that she just wanted to ignore it, that it helped her for things to be normal. But sometimes, she couldn't ignore it. Sometimes it would build up and she needed to burst again. Harry felt the same. So, occasionally, they would sneak off to the Room of Requirement and they would grieve together.  The Room would transform into a small area packed with tissues and soft pillows. Through their grief, Harry and Lauren grew closer and they realized that they still had family left, and the closest thing to a blood relative they had, was each other.
