An Open Letter

You didn't expect to read this, did you?

An open letter from me.

You didn't expect to hear this, now did you?

Now let's see what feelings will be freed.

You said you merely tolerated my presence, I know

And you're not one to make jokes about that

So I guess, if you won't force me to go

I'll just take it, and sit where I've sat.

I'll admit, it hurt, I thought you really did like me.

But I guess I should have expected nothing more.

However, I will just let it be

I won't let my heart sink to the floor anymore.

I've let other's words hurt me too many times to give in

And they've said much, much worse

And I guess, in that way, we are quite akin

I know words have hit you, for us, it's a curse

I know you're probably feeling quite sore

It's a lifestyle we both have to live with

And I know that for us, we've been keeping accurate score

Of losses and wins, and any chance of our victory's a myth

So keep your head high, and I'll see you soon

You're a star in the roughest of nights

You're shining, not reflecting, you're more than a moon

Of the other Madrigal-esque knights

You're my choir partner, and I'll take a vow

Not to leave you hanging when the going gets rough

And I'll be your friend, starting way before now

I just hope that will be enough.

And to others reading who don't know my story

Know that the positives apply to you too.

You're more than a side-character, you deserve glory

You're the Dipper or Mabel Pines, not the Mary Sue.

You can go out and create your own destiny

You can do anything that you put your mind to

You can be whomever you want to be

You can be the hero, your duty, you'll do.

I believe that you can make it

And you'll get through the rough times now.

You'll be shining through work with a grin and your grit

And you'll get there, if you allow.

Spread the love around, like in Sister Act

Or maybe you've never heard of it

It's a true word, it's a fact

That this world now is full of things we'd love to omit

There's hatred for sure, it's a dark, dark world

People hating on others for the color of their skin

But things can change, that attitude can be hurled

When we understand that each and everyone is someone else's kin

We're all together

And that may seem cliched

But it's up to us whether

We decide to let that grow or fade

Personally I'm rooting for the former

I wanna see love win, not die in flames or bashed by a deformer

But I know I won't change the world without change in me

But together, I know that we can make it happen, you see

We have power in these words, use them.
