"The sunset really is so pretty woah" Hobi said when he sat on one of the towels. He had just come back from whatever he was doing and joined the others.

"Kook I got you your favourite beer" he said and the other nodded.

"I picked up your snack from the store too" Tae added and jimin knit his eyebrows "Why are y'all treating him like you owe him something" he asked with a short laugh.

"Cool kids stuff, you wouldn't understand " Jungkook answered and he huffed.

"I'm not a kid and you're not cool" he replied and Hobi hissed.

"I don't know man... He's kinda cool honestly" he said.

"Hobi you can stop sucking up to him, he's not gonna get you that date with Lisa's sister" Yoongi rolled his eyes.

"None of us is sucking up to him, he treats us the same" Namjoon said and Yoongi scrunched his face in disagreement.

"Speak for yourself bro"

"He does spoil you sometimes, he brings you his dog and gets you dinner when Joon isn't there" Jin pointed out and Yoongi sighed.

"Not to be ungrateful but, I would really feel cared for if Jungkook lost against me... Or teamed up with me" Yoongi said in a dramatic way, looking at the blazing horizon and running a hand through his hair.

"We both know I'm not losing, but if you'd wanted the feel what it's like to play on my team you could've just asked" Jungkook said, taking a sip from his drink.

Jimin watched their interactions and smiled softly, it was clear that they all cared about one another. Some relationships were stronger but there was something tying them all to each other, an experience? Or past? A place? Jimin couldn't really tell, but he really wanted to know.

"I guess I gotta wait a few years for that to start happening to me" Jimin joked and Jin laughed "I remember Jungkook hated me in freshman year, he used to say I was too cringy with my jokes and loud ass laugh"

"He used to say 'Stop bringing that dad reincarnation everywhere Joon it's lame' " Namjoon mimicked the other by making his voice just a little deeper, and exaggerating Jungkook's muscles.

"Yeah he be rude like that" Jimin laughed and Jungkook threw his bucket hat at him "You're being too sassy kid" he said with a playful tone and Jimin took the hat, putting it on his head.

"I'm the cool kid. I smoke a lot but it's okay because I'm the cool kid and I beat everyone at basket ball" Jimin mimicked as well, his fabricated deep voice was so ridiculous it made everyone laugh including himself. He threw his head back and giggled to his heart's content with a hand slightly covering his mouth.

Jungkook smiled at him and got up towards where his chair was and stood right behind him, leaning slightly down closer to his laughing face so that he could be in Jimin's visual field. He tapped his shoulder to make him open his eyes, and Jimin's life was sucked out of his body when he saw a clown mask right above him. He scurried up in fear and everyone was laughing until Jungkook revealed himself.

"Got you good" Jungkook laughed and he whined, charging at him and pushing his chest "You're the worst type of people Jeon Jungkook I fucking hate you, you scared the shit out me" he let out his frustration and Jungkook just chuckled, not budging from any of Jimin's attacks.

"Calm down kid, you're gonna look bad in the pictures" Jungkook announced and Jimin raised his head in confusion. Suddenly the taller stepped aside and Ryujin appeared holding a birthday cake.

"Happy birthday Jimin!" they all said.

"It took so long to get you distracted man, even while watching the sunset you were looking everywhere" Yoongi said.

"We were getting bored waiting back there Jimin" a new voice said and it was Jungkook's girlfriend Lisa.

'Why does she know my name... Why is Ryujin with her I thought she had a crush on Jeon... Why is Lisa even here... When did they get here...' Jimin was so confused and overwhelmed with all the information.

First, his new friends held a surprise birthday party for him even only knowing him for a month, and he could cry just because of that. Second, the girl he's been talking to also cared for him enough to come all the way here for him. Third, Jungkook's girlfriend was gorgeous and he can't understand how Jeon scored her at all.

"I don't know what to say... Thank you so much for doing this" he simply replied, a couple tears forming in his eyes. The dark blue sky was darkening the place and the many candles were the only source of light. He looked at each of the people and smiled brightly, crouching down as he let the emotions overwhelm him.

"Noooo Jimin's crying now" Jin cooed and went to hug him.

"Was it my mask" Jungkook asked in the middle of everyone's encouraging and nice words to Jimin.

"Jimin come on get up, we have a celebration to do" Ryujin said and he got up, finding Lisa right in front of him and quickly drying his tears "This is bad... it's the first time we meet and you gotta see me like this" he chuckled.

"Are you flirting with my girl?" Jungkook asked with an incredulous expression and he shrugged "It was rather a very subtle way of saying don't judge me by my puffy eyes, but go off I guess. Afraid I'll steal your girl?" Jimin joked and Jungkook huffed lightly.

"You're so cute" Lisa said and he chuckled. He turned to Ryujin and hugged her tight "Thank you for being here, I really appreciate it" he said and she smiled brightly as always "Of course! I couldn't miss your birthday"

They sat together, Namjoon had made a small fire to light up the space and Tae played music for them.

"This cake is delicious" Jimin said after taking a bite.

"Yeah it really is, it's from my aunt's bakery" Ryujin said and Yoongi nodded in acknowledgement "I gotta stop by, I could eat this everyday" he replied.

"It's not by getting fat that you'll beat me in a game" Jungkook pointed out and Yoongi groaned "Lisa shut his ass up. I'm tryna enjoy my time over here" he complained and she laughed "True babe, let the boy enjoy his sweets" she said sitting by his legs. Jungkook simply rolled his eyes and looked away over at the waves building and crashing.

Ryujin was playing with Tako the entire time, Jimin smiled at her and turned to find everyone looking at him "what?"

"Jin asked if you wanted another drink" Hobi said and he shook his head "No thanks I'm good"

A few more anecdotes later, the girls got up and started getting ready to leave, Ryujin said bye to everyone and nuzzled against Tako one last time before she got up. Lisa pecked jungkook's lips, and it was pure coincidence that jimin looked at the younger girl at that exact moment and witnessed the hurt look on her face.

"Yeah we gotta leave, I promised I'd drive Ryujin back before 10" Lisa said and they nodded.

"Happy Birthday again Jimin" she added

"Hope you enjoy the rest of the night" Ryujin continued and he thanked the both of them.

"Bye girls, drive safe" Hobi said and they left for good.

"How do Lisa and Ryujin know each other" Jimin asked in curiosity as to understand why Ryujin hung out with her, while also being jealous of her.

"Ryujin met Lisa when we hung out all together once, her and Jungkook weren't together yet back then. They clicked and became friends, that's it " Tae explained, explicitly stating how she didn't know they were going to become a couple.

"Makes sense"

They were now listening to some songs playing, looking at the fire and just chilling. There was no need to be talking all the time and they all realized that.

Jimin loved this. He really enjoyed going out of his way, feeling a little cold with the breeze, joking with the others with no taboos, just being carefree. He wanted more of it even.

"Who wants to go for a swim" Jungkook said and they looked at him.

"You'll freeze if you go"

"It's too damn cold"

"Hell nah"

"You're on your own"

"I'm down" Jimin said and they all shrieked.

"Jimin don't do it just to challenge him, he'll always find a way to be crazier" Hoseok explained and he shook his head.

"I'm not doing it for that reason... Jeon knows I don't care about that too much"

"I thought you were doing it to challenge me too" Jungkook deadpanned and he sighed.

"Well now you know... Anyway, I just think it'll be fun. We have towels we have clothes we have fire, we'll be fine" Jimin said and started taking off his jacket.

"Wow he's really going for it" Yoongi exclaimed.

Jungkook agreed and took off! his shirt as well as his shoes, leaving his pants on.

"Jungkook worked out extra last month look at that" Tae pointed out, and he smiled shaking his head.

"Jeon are you coming or what!"

One minute Jimin was right besides them and the next, he was running to the shore. The entire thing was a reckless decision because they decided to go in with their pants, so they will have to stay naked from the bottom half waiting for them to dry when they get out, but it was irrelevant at that moment.

"It's not as cold as I thought it would be" Jimin said with a smile, a bit too soon because the further they went the colder it became.

"Don't go too far guys! Stay where we can see you" Jin shouted from their spot.

"My pants are not ideal for this stuff" Jungkook complained about the baggy clothing. Jimin laughed and hissed when the water rose to his bare stomach.

Suddenly, Jungkook threw some water on him and it was so cold that it felt like his skin was burning.

He groaned and was quick to return the action, laughing when they both ending up completely soaked.

It was dark, the moon reflecting on the ripples of the water created the only specks of light they could see. They would somehow shine against Jungkook's torso or Jimin's face, but they were in no case bright enough to help them see each other surrounded by that endless water.

Jungkook let himself sink lower, raising his legs and floating atop. He looked at the full moon above them and rested his gaze on the stars around it.

"Have you ever gone star gazing in the sea"

"Let me guess, that's what you're doing right now?" Jimin asked as he played with the water around.

"Well it was a coincidence, I'm mainly doing this to avoid the fish that could be swimming around here"

As soon as he said that, the color drained out of Jimins face, and he chuckled nervously.

"There's no fish on the beach dumbass"

"Maybe not during the day because of all the agitation and warmth, but the night is cool enough for them to come up" he explained.

"Jeon let's go back" Jimin said and started pulling Jungkook by the arm as he was still floating.

"What are you doing " Jungkook chuckled and almost sunk down from the surface "Shit I was gonna drown" he added, getting up on his feet and looking down at the smaller, whose chest was almost all covered with the water.

"We should go back, I don't wanna be bitten by some piranhas or something " Jimin frantically replied.

"Piranhas don't live in the ocean"

"well I don't know about the ocean life as much as you but I value myself enough not to take chances" he explained and continued dragging him out, not getting too far because of the weight of the water.

"Relax kid, I was talking about small fish, they swim at the bottom, too deep to touch you as long as you keep your legs up" he laughed and went back to star gazing again.

Jimin decided to give it a try, and it really wasn't too bad after all. It was quite peaceful and the stars were very bright that night. They stayed like that for a while, until Jimin broke silence again.

"Why did you start smoking" he asked and waited for an answer but it never came.

"Huh?" he insisted and Jungkook rolled his eyes.

"I hope you realize we can't have conversations while doing this" Jungkook replied and breathed in again when he felt himself starting to sink "Just focus on your breathing and don't drown please" he added.

"I'm bored"

"Sounds like a you problem"

"Should I dye my hair"

"I don't care"

"Did you ask Lisa out or did she"

"Geez Jimin, shut up"

"You're just bitter I can float a little easier because I'm lighter than you Jeon"

"Just look at the damn sky and be quiet"

"But I don't wanna"

Jungkook got up on his feet and pushed Jimin shortly under the water, making him bat his arms and legs around to pull himself up.

Salty water had gone through his nose and he was coughing a fit trying to get it out. His eyes were teary at the feeling and as soon as he felt okay enough, he went to attack Jungkook again, punching his chest since he felt bullied.

"I hate you I hate you I hate you" it went on and Jungkook was laughing right until he saw the tears and halted.

Jimin was storming out of the water towards the guys, and Jungkook knew that if Jin found out he made him cry on his birthday he would kill him.

"Heyyy Jimin I'm sorry, come back" he said as he followed him and pulled him by the arm, sushing him like a child.

"I'm sorry I was just joking, don't tell the guys okay? Here you can down me if you want just don't cry" Jungkook tried and Jimin still wanted to get away from him in anger.

"fuck you, get away from me"

"I don't think I can do that" he replied and pulled him back further where they can't see what's going on.

"What are you doing Jeon I'll kill you"

"Here, why don't we have that chat you wanted" he suggested at they sat in a shallow area.
