seeing stars

nov 26, 2020

You place a shiny coin on my heart

An offering of love and freedom, a work of art

You don't want to buy my eyes that give you shooting stars when you wink

And you're not paying for the tears that fall down my face as I blink

You want to buy me some time to let me love and dream of you

But how much did that coin cost, what will it come to?

And will I let you pay?

"Do you really want to throw it?" I say,

Throw it into our swirling orbit

"Yes," you reply, because how can you deny gravity? What can you do but absorb it?

I'm not sure how.

But you look into the inky void,

And see galaxies, starboy.
