Day 288

~~~
I just wrote 2 pretty angsty chapters in 2 days.
The vibes are ones of accepted failure and projecting my negative emotions onto my characters to watch my readers cry.
I got 8 comments that can be boiled down to "the doctor is interesting, even if she's kinda insane, and HOW DARE YOU HARM THE SMOL BOI IS HE GOING TO BE OKAY WHEN IS HE GOING TO BE SAFE??? Also what a cliffhanger"
Which is adorable. And is definitely something I'd write if I were a reader.
But full honesty: I laughed when I read them because that's exactly the reaction I wanted.
It's like watching people fall into your trap, even though you vaguely warned them it was going to be horrifying and they should be aware of the the danger.
And by vaguely I mean the tags were:
(I edited out character tags/tags with character names)
And here:
(Edited out character name)
I warn them that it's gonna be bad, and yet they never expect how bad it'll get.
Also, to give you context:
Character A is electrocuted and falls in his cell, gets knocked out, then wakes up strapped to a metal and padded thing (think Bucky Barnes' chair to wipe his memory, or Rey or Poe's interrogation chair) with an awkward but knowledgeable and slightly deranged Doctor B in the room. Doctor B explains who she is, and then admits that she's here and working with Nazi Group because they let her do unethical experiments on humans and give her funding. Then she tells A that she's been given him to experiment on and the chapter ends with "she touches the tip to the soft skin of his inner elbow and presses down."
That's literally the last sentence.
I'm super giddy over that line, I feel it really sets the scene for what we'll be coming back to in chapter 40. See that was chapter 38, and chapter 39 is A's friends and family figuring out how to rescue him. So we get to see 38: A getting tortured kinda. 39: family trying to come up with a plan to save him. 40: A being tortured for real. It's going to be great.
Anyway now that you got to see the kinda creepy and kinda unstable mind of me watching my readers respond to the angst I give them, let's move on.
The carrot is leaving the White House tomorrow and I can't wait.
I will be in exams until 12:30pm and I won't be checking anything, I need to focus on my exams and not mess up, but as soon as it's 12:30pm I'll be checking in on what's going on and on everyone here.
I'll leave a message on my board when I go offline, but I figured anyone who reads this deserves a heads up.
Also, there's a lot of talk of people trying to crash the inauguration and attacking state capitals, so please stay safe no matter where you are. Luckily for me, my state capital is about 4 hours away so my school will have some notice in case things get dicey.
Plus the gossip spreads quickly in high school so if something happens, I'll know.
But the nation guard is there in DC so it should be alright, they're taking a bunch more precautions than usual, both Covid and against rioters/terrorists.
Because that's what the people who attacked the country's capital a couple weeks ago were: terrorists. A terrorist is someone who does a (usually) politically charged event to spark terror in the nation. A terrorist can be of that same nation, they can be white, they can be Catholic/Christian. Those people were terrorists and it's time we as Americans left behind our stereotypes of terrorists being middle eastern, Muslim people. 9/11 happened and it was deeply traumatic, but does not give us the right to discriminate, to turn against our fellow human because of skin or religion or place of birth.
It's time to let go and fight terrorism with the knowledge that they are usually extremists who want to kill anyone who doesn't belong. Not Middle Eastern, not Muslim, not young men who have an accent. Just people who can't accept humanity for being a diverse species.
Okay this was not supposed to be a PSA but that was good.
Stay safe kiddos, remember to be intolerant of intolerance.
Love you all <3<3<3
