You know, a common question people are asked is what would your superpower be?

And here's the thing: it's implied that it's what your ideal superhero power. 

Everyone immediately assumes you'd want to be the hero.

So here's my answer:

Firstly. Who would want to the hero, when the villain has no limits but their own morals? Heroes have to stick to the moral code of the masses, they have to be good and pure, they must always think of the lives of the many vs the life of one or lives of the few. They have to be in league with the government, or the police force, or some other organization that's also good. Or at least, recognized as good by the society.

But villains. Villains follow their own morals and nothing else. Villains are whatever they feel like being. Villains don't have to bend their will to fit with what the people demand, they are unapologetically themselves. Villains get to value the lives of one or few over many, because nothing's holding them back. Villains can be solo or a group, they don't have to be connected to a wider network. 

Heroes may be for freedom, but villains get freedom.

So yes, I'd be the villain, or at least anti-hero in this.

Secondly. People always answer with simple powers: flight, lasers-for-eyes, enchanted senses, command of nature. And that's all well and  good, but think deeper, think harder, think smarter.

You need to be able to fight or at least be useful in missions and such.

You need to be able to blend in with the masses, in case of a chase or quick get away.

You need to be able to live a normal life outside of your job.

And, you're not being constrained in these powers, so go wild. Don't hold back.

That's why my superpower would be shapeshifting, where I can turn into anything alive, as long as my imagination doesn't run out on me.

So I could look like anyone, any animal, any mythological creature or being. Thus, I could shift myself to become myself but with another power, alllowing me to fight.

I could also then blend back into the masses.

And, because I could look like anyone I imagine, I could easily live a normal life.

It's brilliant, foolproof, and best of all, I'd finally be able to describe my characters because I could literally turn into them.

Also, you know, be able to impersonate anyone and take over the world easily. Because world domination.
